Most of these games will come out in 2008. There are a few that may be moved to 2009 though.
So, do you think next year could be the best year for gaming ever?

Devil May Cry 4 is good enough for me to make 2008 better than 2007

It will be great, no doubt. I think 2001 was better.

I dunno, 2007 was/will be pretty amazing too.

Yeah but 07 lost a lot of promising games. Although 08 will lose a lot as well (please not RE5).
No Half-Life in 2008 = 2007 better.

Traditionally, the longer a console has been out, the better the games that come out for it are, as developers come to grips with the system, better sequels are released, and so on.
So based on that alone, 2008 will be better than 2007, and 2009 will probably be better than 2008, etc.

Don't we say that about pretty much every year?
Things you missed:
Sam & Max Season 2
A Vampyre Story
Machinarium
I'm sure there's more, but sure - 2008 is going to be awesome.
Props for the ü.

Yeah, Wii Fit should definitely not be on top of the list if even on the list at all

Isn't every new year always declared "the best year for gaming ever"?

If MGS4, DMC4, and GTA4 had not been delayed, it definitely would've been one of the best years.

You can add:
Far Cry 2
Spore
Left 4 Dead
And you have Turok in the list twice.
On paper 2008 does look better than 2007 but games always get pushed back.
2009 is already looking like a great year.

The potential exists for 2008 to be a good year for games, but probably no better than 2006 or 2007. I don't think there's any legitimate reason to assume that 2008 will be the best year ever.

Meh @ all of the above.
What'd you do, OP, just look at the EB release list? It seems like you just wrote down whatever was on there.

I just went through the release dates at IGN and picked out the games which interested me or had a good amount of hype (Wii Fit).

2001 was amazing.
2003, 1999, and 2004 were pretty good too.

no it won't be the best ever, those awards fall to the nes era because there werent 5 god damn systems to get to enjoy everything.
But gaming is big enough now to where every year is good.
although ask me again once spore is out, because that alone may change my mind.

It's got potential. 2007 had potential until a ton of the really interesting games slipped into next year... hopefully that won't happen again.

Probably...if FFXIII comes out in Japan before the end of the year, then most definitely. There's just way too many good games coming out. To name a few I'm looking forward to:
Final Fantasy XIII (hoping for 2008)
Metal Gear Solid 4
Devil May Cry 4
Lost Odyssey
Soul Calibur IV
King of Fighters XII
Street Fighter II HD
Street Fighter IV
Tekken 6
Super Smash Bros
No More Heroes
Ninja Gaiden 2
GTA IV
Silent Hill 5
White Knight Story
Motor Storm 2
Wet
Little Big Planet
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Infinite Undiscovery
Final Fantasy: Dissidia
Final Fantasy IV (DS)
Archaic Sealed Heat
Dragon Quest IX
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2
It's a Wonderful World
Yakuza 2
Yakuza 3
Resident Evil 5 (Maybe? Probably not)
I know some of these already came out in Japan, but I'm talking about U.S. releases. If they announce an FFVII remake for PS3, I just might cry (VERY wishful FF fanboy thinking)

2007 has been one of my favorite years, I don't think 2008 can compare.
