they're losing too much money on them.

As you can see from the Gamestop memo we obtained, Gamestop is no longer offering Xbox360 Product Replacement Plans on any new console. The plans currently out there will stay good until they expire. When we asked our source why this is happening, we were told it was because GS is losing too much money on the program! You can read this all for yourself, we included three different copies of the document, as it was taken with a cell phone and is a bit hard to read. You should be able to read one of the enhanced ones, though. Check for yourself at the link!

As if GameStop can't afford it.

Fuck. Here's hoping mine doesn't expire before the 65 nm chips are all over the stores, I was planning on cashing in on my plan then and praying my 360 doesn't break.

I took my Nov. 2006 360 back a few weeks ago with my PRP.

Oh microsoft, them 360's are fragile.

I can confirm. We were told to stop offering them about a month ago actually.

I'm not surprised really. My store was swapping out something like 2-3 360s a week sometimes.

Any second now, Al Sharpton will come from the shadows saying that this is console profiling. Fight the good fight Al!

The only product worth getting from them, was the replacement plans for the 360's, since one was sure , once paid for it, you would get what u pay for, another 360, thanks to the redlights...

Its like every other kind of insurance, if you dont need it, they will sell you all you want. If you need it, go fuck yourself.

You live on top of a mountain, you can get flood insurance. Live next to a river? Good luck.

Well, this sucks. I really hope they change their minds about this in the next few months.

Doesn't surprise me really. Actually, with all the PS2's that were breaking previously, I'm surprised they were offered this generation at all.

I think this may just go to show (again) that, for the most part, these plans aren't worth it. Stores only want to offer them if they are making money, and if they are making money, overall, the consumer is worse off (obviously, a few individual consumers may be better off, but as an aggregate group, they are worse off).
