If ten is perfect then you might as well move it to 11 and still use ten for those once or twice a year games that are better than anything else around.
The issue at hand is that there seem to be a lot more than one or two games this year getting 10s. Like every hyped up game. And usually from the big sites, because most of those games that were getting such seemingly perfect scores are now out of the top 10 at GameRankings (besides Orange Box, which I guess is going to suck up two spots for the 360 and PC versions; or three if you count Half Life 2), so the majority of reviews are bringing them back down.
Yeah, it's not easy to objectively "score" a game (or anything for that matter) because ultimately, there is more subjectivity than objectivity in reviews in general. It's too bad game reviews are stuck in a numerical ratings system as I think I'd get more out of a Pass/Rent/Recommended/Highly Recommended kind of a summary accompanied by a detailed and articulate explaination of what the reviewer liked and didn't like instead. The review could be more subjective as long as they carefully explained why they felt the way they did, then it leaves more to the readers' interpretations of the review instead of leaving the reader to agree or disagree with the reviewer's opinion.

I only use reviews to gain information about how a game is like. I know when I wrote reviews for an RPG gaming website, I tried to be extremely detailed explaining most everything about the game, so someone could figure out whether or not it appeals to them.
I learned long ago to not trust reviews. Without a doubt, I'm a big JRPG fan. I watched many JRPGs I like get terrible review scores over the years, like some Tales games, Wild Arms games, some Suikoden's, Brave Story, PoPoLoCrois, MS Saga, .Hack//GU, and many more. I ended up enjoying many of them more than an FPS, extreme sports game, etc. that got all 9's. Part of the reason is that I love JRPGs and never get sick of some story elements repeating themselves. Also, I may have different emotions than some reviewers, because many reviewers may not be likely to cry during a few scenes, while I might (there are a few RPGs I became teary eyed during the storyline).
The only thing that drives me crazy is (although I've been a tad guilty of it before), when fans of opposing consoles post reviews of games that got low scores (like a Lair, Red Steel, etc.) and using it as evidence a console is terrible. Or even going the other way around posting all high reviews of certain games, proving that one console is the best for that.
Since many look at me being a Sony fan, I'll bring up SotC as an example. I feel the games are good, but they aren't high 9 good to me. While Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, which got mostly 7's-8's, ended up being one of my favorite games that same year.
I sometimes wish scores were thrown out the window, and just concentrate on how a game is like.

I think that game sites are starting to buy into the hype alot more then they used to. Looking back at Bioshock the hype on that game was huge. Then the game came out and it was getting perfect scores. I think the game was overrated due to the hype. I feel like alot of games are starting to fall victim to these things.
On other news, Im gonna dig deeper into the witcher tonight even though the frame rate is all over the place. Man did the ATI 19xx series cards become outdated fast or what?

The 7800GTX is similarly shitty... the 256MB one really never was very good, so it's nice that the current stuff is such a huge performance leap. I mean, I can still run stuff fine at a 360-quality level... sometimes a bit better, but being greedy, I want more. Much more.
And as for hype... it's really difficult to write a review for a hella hyped up game where you have to explain why it sucks. Because you know there's gonna be a shitload of backlash. Hence why I would never review Halo 3 (well, and I never played the single player, but it probably sucks...)

I think it depends on what you're looking for in a review. Are you looking for a writers opinion of a game or are you looking for a buyers guide?
More and more reviewers are leaning more towards the type of reviews you see in other forms of media (books and movies being the big two) but there are still some sites that attempt to review a game objectively (Gamespot) so whatever you're looking for in a review, there are sites to suit your needs.
Also, I think gamers are too immature when it comes to the scores of games. Movies have scores as well but you don't see people say "Roger Ebert is stopping hundreds of thousands of people from going to see this movie because he gave it 2 1/2 stars" (I actually saw someone say that about Gamespot's 7.5 score of Ratchet and Clank). So the problem is not the score, but the way the score is blown out of proportion.

Why do you have to bash the best game on the PS2?! If you don't like the system and Sony as a company, just say so!
;)Naw, it's like that on all platforms. Although I tend to favor Sony on most forums, but outside of forum posting (like AIM/MSN, real life, XBL/PSN with voicechat, etc.), I'm much more even on console manufacturer support (My closets to being best friend in real life has heard me say more praises about 360 than PS3, another friend hears me say I really like Nintendo, there are some who here I just love RPGs, and there are those who hear I like Sony). I only do this in forums (don't ask why). If no one believes me, you can find out. ;)
SotC is great and all. I'll admit I only rented though. I would like to buy, but my PS2 collection is loaded. I felt GT3 was a bit too high scored around release, and I'm not even into TM Black much (I prefer a little more lighter TM, like Head On).

My issue with the first 2 games is that nothing felt... solid. It's difficult to explain... I guess it was a complete lack of polish or something. And I hated the last level of the single player. If you're going to make me drive a warthog for the entire level, at least make it fun to drive that damn thing. Piece of shit always feels out of control. I didn't play through a lot of the single player in Halo 2, but I do remember the bridge level, mainly because it was impossibly boring.

I know what you mean about the ending, it should have been cool, but I found myself crashing/going really slow as not to crash so it wasn't all that it could have been unless you're really good at controlling the warthog.

I think scores are unnessecary in the first place, as if you can quanitfy the amount of "good" in the game. What makes a 7.5 different from an 8? Or a 93 different from a 98? I just think that 10s should be used for games you would reccomend wholeheartedly, without reservation, as the best of their type. I believe Virtua Fighter is one of those. It goes without saying that if you hate VF or fighting games, that 10 isn't going to mean much to you, but then the review isn't really written to you.
What means perfection, anyway? Couldn't you say that SMB3 loses a bit due to not having a save system and being such a long game/difficult to finish in one sitting? What if someone felt the 2 player play was weak and wanted simultaneous play? It's all opinion anyhow, so why not open up the whole review scale?I could not agree with you more. "Scoring" games - or movies, or books - just seems totally ridiculous to me. Gunm said it well in his post. A detailed explanation of the game summed up by something like "buy immediately", "buy if you are a fan of the series", or "rent first", etc. would be my ideal system. If someone wants to turn that into numbers, that's their god damn problem.

I caved and bought not one, but two simpons games today. DS and 360. 360 one I didn't pay for, just store credit, but still. The 360 game is such a guilty pleasure for a fan of the show and plays quite well. It's just very, very shallow.
The DS one is very technically impressive with lots of video, voiceovers, and impressive animation. It's also very fun but shallow. Both of these won't stay long, but will be enjoyed while they last.

Friend brought over Guitar Hero 3.
jer7583: Does The Simpsons game for 360 bring back any of the nostalgia from the arcade game? I'm really considering it. Can you explain what you mean by its shallow? Just linear not much to do besides point A to point B?
I realized I'm getting sick of shooting games. Call of Duty 4 will probably be my last. I still haven't gotten Orange Box though I'll pick it up next year when the price drops and I'm out of my FPS slump.
I'm placing a big order with buy.com soon. Once I can sell my 60GB PS3, 11 Blu-rays, Bluetooth headset, HDMI cable, and Warhawk for $500 I'm ordering:
Logitech Z-5500 5.1 surround sound, the HD DVD player (7 free movies), and the XBL Vision camera.
Going to be so fucking awesome playing with real surround sound finally after almost 2 years of 360 HDTV goodness but TV speakers.
Games to get for rest of 2007: Call of Duty 4, NHL 08(eventually), and Assassin's Creed(pending if the reviews are good).
jer7583

I think that the arcade game is probably the best comparison here, but a more modern version of that, in that it uses state of the art graphics and cameos from the show to great effect.
I say it's shallow in that there's nearly no challenge to this game. Most deaths just have you switching to your partner character while the dead one regenerates. Most failures allow to to infinitely restart from just moments before. enemies are a pushover so far. But if you just go with it and enjoy the ride, that won't be a problem.
It's also shallow because there really isn't much thought process beyond the advance and stomp all over these enemies stuff. But it is fun, it controls well and integrates show elements to the gameplay better than about any other licensed game. Rolling around as the homerball, transforming into "clobber girl" as lisa and such are all fun diversions to mix up what is basically a "run into group of enemies and hit X" game.
All of the non-game elements, sound, visuals, writing, etc. are all top notch. If you're a simpsons fan at all, it will have you laughing on a regular basis. I really couldn't see myself playing it twice, because there's no variety and the experience would be EXACTLY the same a second time, but it's quite good. A lot like lego star wars in some ways. Easy, simple, but full of fanservice and fun. I just like the simpsons a lot more than lego star wars.

I kid. It's like Doom 3 mixed with Call of Duty. Better than Doom 3 on almost every level and the squad mates that you're with at different points of the game are all voiced very well and take away the lonely feeling that a lot of these types of games have. Fun if you like FPS's (I do) but probably not the best option available of the 360.

Also, re: Huskies. My family used to have a dog team. This slowly turned into just a couple of huskies, and the last one died when I was very young (coyote trouble). I could never imagine having one of those things in an urban area. Way too much of a "fuck you, I'm-a gonna go wander around for a few hours" attitude. But Time Crisis 4 isn't Super Mario Galaxy OR Mass Effect.. I'm so confused.
I'm really surprised how good the Simpsons game is. I just finished the "game engine" level and that was actually pretty clever, and the game has started to get a little challenge. It does just drop you back in immediately where you died, but still. I'm also surprised an EA game takes so many digs at EA and at the games industry in general. Odd that it took a licensed product of all things to put forth some criticism. And the most hateful of comments were directed towards marketing/advertising, of all things.
It's also a stunning looking game and quite fun. You're always using two members of the family, and it does smart things like automatically having the other character catch up or automatically do tedious sections, so you don't end up repeating areas too often. Lots of little details done right on this game.
Another fun 360 mulitplayer co-op GRAW2 session. Followed up by almost 40 minutes of fiddling with the GHIII wireless guitar for PS3. Damn thing refused to sync no matter what I tried (did everything suggested in the activision support pages and more). I ended up having to give up and submit an RMA to activision/redoctane. I hope this can be resolved as I just want to play the game. :(

So, I thought, hey, I liked Enter the Matrix, despite the reviews. It was a fun little shooter. Why don't I try Path of Neo? I'm sure the reviews are just as wrong about that one too.
...
My playtime with the game might be the worst hour of my life, so far. Hitting the attack button doesn't always attack, sometimes it counters the attack that the enemy hasn't started yet. Sometimes it doesn't do anything. Pushing a direction does not always move you in that direction. Pushing a direction does not always move you at all. Pushing a direction while attacking does not cause you to attack in that direction.
The box/advertising claims that the game will take you through the action scenes of the Matrix movies. Instead I spent an hour, without explanation, running around Far Eastern locales, assaulting Asians and ghosts with terrible kung-fu. All I wanted was them to give me a gun, but instead I get this terrible, hard-to-control hand to hand combat and swordplay that isn't easy enough for me to forgive. I pretty much spent an hour jamming the triangle button. With varying degrees of success. And the graphics/collision/character models disappearing glitches... don't get me started.

I was a bit disappointed in Guitar Hero II myself (didn't play it anywhere near as much as the first, although I bought it late). There wasn't much music I liked. However, part of the problem is that although I love the gameplay of Guitar Hero, the music doesn't really suit my taste. I'm into mostly Rap/Hip-Hop, J-Pop, and Techno. Very strange combination of music. Usually DDR has the music I like, so that's why I play it the most.
Although, I'd shit in my pants if there was a Guitar Hero (well, Guitar Freaks is somewhat this way) that was J-Pop with Japanese anime backgrounds. :D

I've never played the game myself, but I did watch a kid sit in our store and finish the whole thing in a day at my old job years ago. Wait until you get to the ending. It might be the worst thing ever.
I'm not sure what model that madcatz controller is, it's wired and it was among the first batch that Madcatz released for the 360. It's white and has sort of pointy hand grips, and the start and select buttons are on the top of the controller rather than on the face.

I know I know. I have to make some sacrifices right now though, and the way Sony has handled the PS3 I thought they were on an upward slope in July/August. They have slipped back down to mediocrity in my book though. Maybe not that much mediocrity but I think the PS3 was a major impulse buy at at least. The 360 is all I really need gaming wise.

And you're likely talking a savings of mere cents to make a controller have an RF wireless transmitter inside and then a dongle vs. putting in bluetooth, if anything. Bluetooth was designed to be cheap. Heck, it only costs $20 to get the main receiver added in to a Dell laptop. The accessory component is much cheaper.
That PS3 controllers aren't all just pure wireless is very confusing.

It's a lot easier when everything is kept uniform. It's because the bluetooth can only be used by SCE at the moment. They'd have to release an update in order to allow third parties to use it. It hasn't been considered much as of late. Although to an extent, there's less of a chance of controller drop-outs using the dongle. The news about it was here (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/10/05/guitar-hero-iii-not-so-wireless/).

GS keeps getting worse and worse. Here's what's screwed up. Yesterday, I went to EB to trade Enchanted Arms and Armored Core 4 on PS3. Enchanted Arms got me $6 before bonuses, while Armored Core 4 got me $10 before bonuses. AC4 sells for $39.99 used and Enchanted Arms sells for $17.99 used. Oh well, I just badly needed store credit, needed to downsize my PS3 just a little (still at 15 disc based games at least), and I didn't want to deal with the trouble of shipping stuff to maybe get more (I doubt anyone wanted those games anyway). Still got $27.60 after bonuses.
As for GHIII, I'm falling into its hype and want the game now on PS3. However, the price kind of turns me off a little. I like the gameplay of guitar hero, but not a huge fan of the type of music.

GS is awful, this should be no surprise. They are getting very close to giving 1/4 of their used price for trade in. I rarely trade there except in cases where you can scam and get more than you paid, or when something has gone unsold on ebay several tries. GameStop are leeches getting fat off of other people's work.
Ninja Gaiden Black is so good. I think I'm really starting to "get" the gameplay. I've tried and gotten too frustrated several times, but I just beat alma with relative ease and I'm really getting into the game. Alma was always where I started giving up in my past attempts.

Man, playing Mega Man Legends again is... weird. When I first played it, it was on an original PS1 controller. Using a Dual Shock now, the analogue sticks are just sitting there, useless, taunting me. This game was released after the original Dual Shock controller, yet does not use the analogue sticks. Fuck, you can't even move while locked on to a target!
I think I'm going to have to dig out a PS1 controller just to play this game.
On the plus side, the voice acting in Arc the Lad doesn't suck quite as badly as I remembered. On the down side, you can only turn it off during fights - it's still there during cutscenes, in all its ear-bleeding glory. Being able to turn it off during cutscenes would really be great. That way, I could close my eyes and pretend the crappy dialogue just doesn't exist.

Man, playing Arc the Lad just makes me appreciate the Fire Emblem games so much more.
Put simply... Twilight of Spirits sucks. I was enjoying playing as Darc until his character took a complete 180 for absolutely no reason. The plot is the RPG standard, the characters are all ugly, the dialogue is atrocious, and the voice-acting doesn't help. Some of the text can't be sped up, and comes in painfully slowly (not as bad as parts of FFT - think Chibi Robo). The "radial" movement is very nice, but the combat seems a little... quaint. Forget Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics - this isn't even Shining Force. And yet, I'm going to keep playing. I'm a sucker for the genre, and god knows when Zack & Wiki is gonna finally show up in the mail.

downloaded the VF5 demo to make a final verdict on if I'm going to purchase it or not on the 360 (if I do get it, it'll be next week at CC when it's $40). I played it on the ps3 and didn't care for it much so maybe the 360 will be different.
other than that, started disgeae on the psp and I'm enjoying it so far. between that, jeanne d'arc and tekken: dr on the psp, i'm really enjoying that little handheld a lot right now. dementium finally comes in the mail tomorrow, then dragon quest monsters joker next week.

Folklore is sooo good, my RPG of the year. Mana do you like it? Haven't really heard any feedback from you on it.I'll just say I absolutely love the demo and purchased it around two weeks ago (Meijer had another 15% sale). Didn't get to play the game until 7 days ago (since my copy was waiting for me at home). Since Sunday, I've been swamped with work to do trying to finish up my project (which is why I went TWO days this week without playing a videogame, and the time I had I only played a game for 20 minutes). It's like through the day I'm busy researching, then in the night I'm building and testing my project, and normally don't get back to my apartment until 9-9:30pm. By that time, I'm already worn out and end up eating, taking a shower, and sleeping. I'm going to take today or tomorrow off and play some games.

I know many times I was quick to judge a game I played at a store, friend's house, etc. But when I spend time with it on my console, things change, sometimes.

Virtua Fighter 5 on 360 gameplay has been tweaked/updated compared to the PS3 one. The PS3 one is the inferior version now, not just because of lack of online... but also because it is outdated.
Competitive scenes will be moving to the 360 now to get their VF fix.
Yes... All 40 hardcore VF players... :(
When I get my 360 back I'm going to try to make VF big in my area!(Tried to do so for VF4 EVO and failed)...
Tekken though... Tekken is always strong in San Diego. :)

Oh yea... I'm currently starting up where I left off on in Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations... I usually play my DS when I'm about to knock out in bed... but man the text/reading in PW really makes me snooze fast lol... That's probably why I've been playing it off and on for the past two months.
I'm playing Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles on and off while I'm out... and the occasional practice mode fix for Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection while I'm at home.
I still have a STACK of PS3 games I need to open/play... I don't think I'll get around to it until Thanksgiving weekend or at worst, Christmas time...
I could care less though.

Mario non-believers, your reckoning is at hand. Sunshine was merely the journey between Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy. This is the true next 3D platformer of all time. I'm trying to avoid info, but what I've seen is glorious. Not unlike the first time picking up an N64 controller and experiencing the joy of Mario 64's fluid 3D movement.
Talk all you want about your jungle gears of war, and RPGs, this is the true GOTY.

Well, I remember at the age of 14 (that's what age I was when N64 came out), I badly wanted a Nintendo 64 because Super Mario 64 looked awesome (I owned a PS1, but at that time I wasn't really into it much, due to being more of a Nintendo fan). I didn't get my N64 until 9 days after launch at Meijer, then Super Mario 64 two days later (finding N64 consoles and games was very hard at the time). I remember that was a day I had a half day off of school (along with the full day off on Friday), I spent the evening playing Super Mario 64 and the all of the weekend playing Mario 64. I showed my friends and made them buy an N64 too. Seriously, I stopped playing everything and I continued to play the game constantly. I ended up beating the game around the end of the month (this was October), and got all 120 stars during Thanksgiving break. Playing Super Mario 64 was definitely one of my best gaming experiences of all time, but I have one problem with it......lacks replay value which other Mario games had (I can replay Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, etc. over and over again).
Although, it's tough to say if it was my favorite game in 1996, because I really, really liked NiGHTs into Dreams also (The game was short, but had much higher replay value and still unlike anything I played). I'm not going to lie that the entire reason I want a Wii very badly is because of NiGHTs: Journey of Dreams (I even created the NiGHTs Facebook group a while ago).
I can say now I've played platformers I liked more than Mario 64 (like Ratchet, maybe the first Ape Escape in some ways, etc.), but Mario 64 was still great. That's why I was extremely hyped for Mario Sunshine (bought my GC for that game), but it didn't work out.

I'm hoping that it's because Sunshine was a disappointment while Galaxy is spectacular.
At least, I hated Sunshine when I played it. Awful camera, boring setting, shit dialog that you're forced to sit through. And seriously... why am I cleaning up the world? Just to spite Nintendo, I started littering hardcore after playing that game.
I won't get into the racist implications of Toad saying "What's all this g oo k [censor]?" when referring to the mess that evil mario had left. Choose your words wisely, Nintendo.

Anyway Sunshine was an interesting diversion and not a bad game at all but didn't do enough new. Galaxy looks so much better. Chac I loled at that line in Sunshine too.. I'm sure NOA had no idea, but it just sounded awful.

Mostly because of Sunshine--Nintendo's admitted more than once that they're hoping to redeem for the GC Mario, not unlike Bungie with Halo 3 after 2.
I grow much less weiraes about sequels to less-than-ideal games when the developers admit they botched up a bit and are seeking to make it right.
That, and Galaxy looks to be the best Nintendo game since Mario 3. Here's hoping. Yeah, I'm riding the hype train. It goes really fast!

Can't make an ebay sellers account (have just a buyers account) because I don't have my own credit card and I have a name conflict with other ways of verifying my identity.
I'm not about to get a retail job to buy a Wii, because:
Mana Knight working retail = very bad thing (although I never worked in retail, fast food, etc. before). Although, working in retail might make me better socially.
I ended up selling my GC and GBA Fire Emblem games, but I'd like to get into the series with not as big of a backlog (the only reason I got rid of them was due to my massive backlog. I liked the games and all. Hopefully, by next year I'll have them.

It's okay, because I went out and bought the sequel to a few games where the story follows each other (I even saw Harry Potter: CoS before I saw the first Harry Potter movie).
Well, I looked at Gamestop.com and found out a few locations have 4+ copies of Disgaea on PSP, meaning I might not get a display case. I'm really debating about going there this afternoon to get the game. I really like Disgaea, but there's no denying I won't have time to really play it (maybe I should wait and use my credit on Uncharted or get more credit and eventually get GHIII). I'll probably still get Disgaea on PSP anyway, since I cannot resist.

You pretty much nailed why I like R&C as well. Here is some other reasons why I like R&C and it's my favorite platformer. Take everything you said and also add in the story in it is usually really good, the humor in it is top notch, music in certain levels is addicting as hell, also it has great replay value, and the graphics (Especially R&C:TOD) are jaw dropping. Eh, difficulty balancing issues, generic storyline, generic characters, Control issues, level issues. Every game ever made has enough flaws to justify calling it crap, EVERY game. In a way, every game ever sucks.

The first time I noticed how much detail the games have was in Going Commando. The R&C games have awesome views of the cities when you first step off the spaceship. The camera is positioned to show Ratchet in the corner and it focuses on the city/planet ahead of you and there are always a ton of things going on like flying cars or crazy lights. It's a really cool effect that shows off what the developers made.

I think assassins creed is gonna be pretty decent, the only thing that worried me was how he said the controls take some time getting used to, but remember that came from the same guy who said it took him 3 days to "get" skate.'s controls.
Yeah, Assassins Creed looks too good to pass up. I usually ignore reviews for games I really want to play and get them anyways. I'm sure I'll be doing so with Assassins Creed.
Now that I think about it I'll have a week to enjoy AC before Uncharted comes out.

I was thinking of Riviera...which was good on the GBA, but I'd rather not spend hours upon hours "practice" fighting again :\

Had it been any other console I would have just left it.I have to agree with the 360 being loud, which is 50% of the reason I buy the PS3 version of some multi-platform games. Loud consoles just bother me, which is why I hated playing CD based games on my PS2 and hated playing certain games on my Dreamcast. I like peace and quiet around me. This is a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hafGdCMaN5M) of the sound my 360 makes when playing a game.
Because his batteries were dead and he refused to pay 20 dollars for 2 rechargeable AA's.But to an extent, AA rechargeable batteries aren't as good because their nominal voltage is 1.2V compared to an alkaline battery at 1.5V. Over time, the maximum voltage of a rechargeable NiMH battery decreases. Well, being an Electrical Engineer and building a robot once, we were taught this. ;)

PS1 (Original launch model in 1995. Although it worked fine, I decided to get a new one two years later for Christmas. Someone wanted to buy it from me, so I let me)
PS2 (Got it just after launch, but decided not to keep it and bought a PS2 later when the price dropped)
Saturn (I rebought it, which I listed)
SNES (original version)
I use to sell game consoles all the time, but now I mostly keep what I have. Although, I don't like keeping too many around, since it takes up too much space, and I only have 7-8 TVs for all my game consoles in my bedrooms.

I once had a friend who heard a pop and his PS3 stopped turning on. The only other main issues I heard was a few with HDD issues (not the PS3 console itself, just the HDD failing), a few that stopped reading discs (an early launch model where the disc reading laser got stuck), and a maybe a defective HDMI. The only issue I have with my PS3 is HDMI handshaking, maybe < 1% of the time (where I just got fuzz and have to restart my console).

Though I just got it for free off Sony's retail site, so I've been playing more. And I have to say, it's not as bad as my first impression. It's still got some major problems though. That's what really makes it suck the most. It's close to being really good, but it's marred by these glaring problems that should have been addressed.

Played more Zack & Wiki and Arc the Lad. I've come to the conclusion that the two games are polar opposites. The former oozes creativity and charm, and is absolutely fantastic to play. The latter is an impossibly by-the-book SRPG. Not only does it have pretty much every cliche in the genre, it's even stolen some from other genres, too. The whole time I'm playing, my only thoughts are "fuck, not another random battle", "shut your god damn mouth and let's fight", "dear God, didn't I predict that would happen five hours ago", and "man, I really want to switch characters right now". Blech.
