Story:

EA producer Scott Blackwood recently told EGM that they never planned to make downloadable content for SKATE.

"We didn't want to go back and ask [people] for more money to get more shoes and shirts...That's not how we wanted to enter this market."

It's a classy statement from the makers of a new franchise that's in the often criticized clutches of EA. But now we're left confused, wanting DLC, the prospect of future expansions, the hope of more. Yes, it's hypocritical. Yes, we've been brainwashed. Or maybe it's because what gamers really desire is unplanned DLC...if such a thing could ever exist in this market, which it probably couldn't. So never mind. Carry on.

This is from the company that asked us to pay for cheat codes.

Maybe they learned from past mistakes? I half expected them to charge for the new jerseys in NHL 08 too, but they were released for free via a code.

True... I was too.

Still it's EA they always have something up their sleeves.

I really hate when people post a news article and then only puts "Discuss" at the end.

Doing DLC is fine. The only reason we hate it is because all we've seen (with a few exceptions) are downloads that try to pry as much Microsoft Bucks out of our hands with as little work as possible done on the development side.

Give us something with value. Something that, unless we hated your game to begin with, we can't possibly pass up; and we'll happily buy it.I call it: The Orange Box phenomenon.

I hate when someone uses acronyms without establishing what they are first. It seems to happen a lot more often online then anywhere else. I expect it from stuff like forum posts but the OP implies he copied this excerpt from a news article (no link).

I'd typically agree with you but it's not like we're talking about CNN here.

Skate or Die is not a game that is going to shake anything. After all these years there is going to be a Skate or Die. A game that was litterially set in the world of "Bill and Ted" and "RollerBoys" .

DLC would be fine if they didn't fucking require you to PAY for them. How I miss the days of Dreamcast DLC where you never needed to pay for what you downloaded.

Wasn't that stuff already on the disk? And they just made you download a tiny file to allow you to use it from the disk...atleast that's how it worked in samba de amigo.

Epic didnt want to charge for GoW DLC but MS made them do it. People that worked on the game are probably not going to have the final say in things like this
