Hey there. This isn't a game, but I need a new card to run my games better. I currently have a GEForce 6600 and I was looking at this BFG 8600. It is on sale (after rebate) for $113.

See what you think. I am running: AMD Athlon 3400 (2388Mhz) with 1024 MEG of ram (that's what my NERO system info says). Any advice if I should get this card or not. I don't wanna spend over $125, really.

Thanks!

Abandon everything, pony up, and just spend about ~$200-250 for the new 8800GT.

Trust me, you'll be thanking me when you see how significantly better it is than the POS 8600.

Here's some benchmarks. Notice how the 8800GT completely DESTROYS the GTS, which is better than the GT.

I see that from the benchmarks that the 8800 is MUCH better. Now, I have to value if I should wait it out or upgrade now and ugeade again later.

I am a FPS hog and I like DOOM3, QUAKE, UNREAL (any), FEAR, and Half Life (any). I also dabble in the Painkiller and Serious Sam series too.

But is THIS card (liked above) a good deal for under $125?

I suppose, but it's hard to compare.

I'd probably go with this.

Unless you insist on the rebates.

Cool. I will keep it in mind. I am already thinking about the 8800 now. Thanks for the help! Thank you!

Spend a few bucks and add some more ram if you can (with the video card), it will make a big diff.
