I love M. Night Shamalyan, I really think this one is going to sneak up on some people.

Nope. I've already ranted on why M. Night is overrated. His movies have good atmosphere but terrible plots (exception is Sixth Sense). I can go watch a different movie with both.

no, I am not, considering the carnage in the review section of my newspaper

The movie got pretty good reviews in my local paper. I also have enjoyed all of his movies thus far. I want to go see it.

i thought all of his movies were average except for sixth sense, which was excellent. i'd be down to watch this movie for the discounted price of $6.50 (through my business) :)

Roger Ebert gave it 1 star. He said the plot of the movie is "stupid". I didn't read the whole review because he always gives away too much. My girlfriend wants to see it, so I guess I'll be seeing it.

Actually the movie has gotten mixed reviews all around. Check out www.rottentomatoes.com to see everyones opinion.

BTW...I did like Signs better than Sixth Sense and I like Stir of Echoes better than Sixth Sense (the two are similiar in theme).

Signs was a total shitfest, and Sixth Sense had a more predictable ending than the results of sticking your dick in a Piranha Tank. The only thing "M" has going for him is the middle name "Night". That sounds cool as hell.

Plus that lame docuimentary didnt help his image too much IMO.

why is everyone so stuck on the endings. that is gay to like a movie b/c of its ending. The way the intensity builds up during his movies is the best part. not the stupid ending.

I'm making it my mission to make one of the most epic, touching movies of all time, and then having the ending be a scene where the main character wakes up (as a college kid now late for class) and says "Oh, what a terrible dream!!!" and end the movie like that. Intense crap is still crap; it's just making me waste more of my time to see proof of its "quality". All movies should have a tag at the begining that says "Terrible ending", "Boring dialogue", "Scene with a penis", or "stupid-ass plot" so I don't have to waste my time. Seriously, saying "I don't care bout teh ending cause teh build up is teh best!!111" is basically the same as saying "Well, I don't care about plot and closure, as long as there are pretty pictures and cool noises." I think you're smarter than that, jug.

I enjoyed all of his other movies so I'll be seeing this.

I like M Night Shyamalan, and regardless of rottentomato's reviews I watched the trailer and want to see it to decide for myself whether or not it's good. I also enjoyed Signs... as well as the Sixth Sense.
So yeah, I'm pretty excited, and I will be seeing it.

And like Secret Window said, the ending is the most important part of the story, so Reality has a point. (But the movie in between definitely counts. if the movie was total shit but the ending was good, I wouldn't want to suffer through it). So, actually, I'd be more inclined to watch a great movie throughout it with just a bad ending then watch a shitty movie with a great ending.

I agree, I prefer them in this order:
1.) Signs
2.) Sixth Sense
3.) Unbreakeable

You have to read these two reviews. One by Roger Ebert and one by the Suntimes. They're like night and day.

Ebert's Review (http://www.suntimes.com/output/ebert1/wkp-news-village30f.html)

AP Review (http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movies/07/29/review.the.village.ap/index.html)

As for me, 90% of the time I see a movie exactly the same way as Ebert does. We just must think similarly. So I'm going to wait till it's free on TV.

I know I am going to see it. I've seen all of his movies and have enjoyed most of them. My order for his movies goes 1.Sixth Sense 2. Signs and 3.Unbreakable. I thought Unbreakable was pretty good and not that bad of story/plot or mood, but was poorly implemented.

I am really looking forward to it, but i've heard that the end is very predictable and its not as good as his other movies.

I just read a pretty extensive plot summary on another website and it sounds like the dumbest idea for a movie I've ever seen in my life. I was going to see it tomorrow but now I definitely won't.

I heard that it was predictable a third of the way in. Nonetheless, I'm still going to see it.

My thoughts exactly. 100%. Reality's Fringe is my new hero. :applause:

I read both those. Ebert's is dead on. It was awful. Saw it this morning. I'm pretty open to movies and like most things, but this was boring and contrived and just plain dumb. I loved the Sixth Sense and Signs and didnt like Unbreakable.

Much of it just didn't make ANY sense about people's motivations, and the main girl in it couldn't act very well at all.

I saw it this morning as well. It BLOWS. M. Night's worst movie yet, by far. What the crap was he smoking while he directed this?

Anyway, it's a good waste of 2 hours. And this is coming from a person who liked all 3 of his prior movies.

After watching Signs, I am not all excited about this one. His movies seem to go downhill. I thought the Sixth Sense was excellent, Unbreakable good, and Signs (water wtf, WATER...) was okay. I will probably still see it though...

I loved all of his other movies and I'd been dying to see this since it was announced.

It was the biggest disappointment in my life -- even moreso than the Matrix sequels and those made me sick.

I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but basically everything that is hyped up in the commercials must've been about a different movie. It starts out great, don't get me wrong, but then it just becomes so.....STUPID.....I'm sorry, I just want my money back.

My friends and I saw it last night in addition to the Manchurian Candidate. Surprise surpirse. The village was painfully bad. Not bad as in "Oh man*laugh, chuckle* this is terrible" bad, but as in "God, when will this end, I want to leave" painful bad. I haven't been bored out of my mind like that snce Underworld. Go see the Manchurian Candidtate as it is a great movie on its own, and though predictable, is WAY less predictable than the village. Which is sad.
