Stolen from slickdeals:

EDIT: Thanks for the update. Looks like this lappy may be going on sale for $348 FRIDAY at 8 a.m.

Added screen shot of the deal, or check out the link to the "secret" sale.

I saw the display unit last weekend and I got around to tracking down a CSR today. He told me they had stock already but were holding them for the Nov. 4th flyer.

You might luck out and get someone to sell it to you early. :) If not, go take a look at the display if it's out and ask about stock. If you have a 24 hr. Wal-Mart grab it Nov 4th in the wee hours before everyone shows up later that morning.

I took pictures as proof. They are just from my cell phone so I'll snap something surreptitiously with my digital camera next time I'm back, sometime this week.
Item # reads 568055 and bar code is 99802232990.

The specs:
Model AS5315-2153
Acer Aspire Celeron 530 (one of the new ones based on Core 2 Duo architecture - this isn't a clearance laptop!)
80 GB HD
7.0 lbs. (specs I got elsewhere say it's 2.8 kg, so not 7 lbs but a little over 6 lbs.)
15.4" WXGA widescreen
802.11b/g Wireless
1024 MB DDR2 RAM
DVD/CD writer - says it read and write DVDs and CDs!
Windows Vista Basic

From what I can find it's a 960GML Chipset with Integrated Intel X3100 GMA graphics

For those who don't want to wait out all night in the cold on Black Friday, this is the best deal I've seen B&M with no rebates since the $299 BB deal. I bought that and the Celly 520 runs better than I thought it would. This Wal-Mart Acer also has more RAM than the BB Gateway did.

Wow, I am usually a desktop guy, but I think I may grab this if they ahve it at my Walmart for college work.

What do people think about timing to buy this on Friday? WIll I need to camp out or something? Or will I be able to be at the store at open and buy one?

Yeah, but you have to deal with Black Friday which sucks.

This isn't that great of a deal for a few reasons...

1) Acer is a hit/miss brand, so if you do get, be sure and get a replacement plan (If Wal-Mart offers one)

2) It has Vista... Don't plan on using it until Jan or late Dec.(that's when Microsoft is releasing the update). Vista isn't the most user friendly right now with this setup. Even with 1GB RAM it isn't gonna run so smooth.

3) It isn't too hard to find a good deal on laptops now. The best is to buy one a week before it goes on sale and then price match it the following week. That is what I did last summer, got a $850+ laptop for $400+ $125 full accident protection plan w/printer, wireless router, carrying case, and some Anti-viurs I never used.

what does that integrated card compare to desktop video card wise? Like a 9800 or something? Just asking, would it play the sims?

I am sure that it will play The Sims, I don't think there is really any new computer that wouldn't play it, but you would definitely need to drop another Gig of RAM in it.

Celeron? I'd rather slit my wrists. Has Vista on top of that? I'd slit my wrist parallel to the length of my veins then. xD

Just a heads up:

There was a NATIONAL Wal-Mart ad this morning on the CBS Morning Show.

Good Luck getting one...
