So I was thinking we should get all the CAGs together who are still interested in playing TF2 on a regular basis. I plan on sticking with the game for a good long while and would like to have fun playing with other CAGs who are of like mind.

ThatDamnDave did quick survey of CAGs in the old thread and I'd like to see how many are still into this idea. I can host or someone else can volunteer, however you guys usually do this.

I joined a few games the other night after trying to read up on how things work (never played TF and first time with TF2), and most of the players were complete jackasses even though I made sure to hop into unranked games so I could try stuff out without screwing up people's ranks.

I wanted to like this since I can't use my headset for Halo 3 (no audio sliders suck), but if I can't even get a chance to learn how the fuck to play, I wont bother. The rest of Orange Box is pretty damn awesome.

Keep trying, you just got some bad people playing with you. I had never played before I got orange box, now I play all the time. Trust me, keep playing, its one of the best multiplayer Shooters ever (this coming from someone who plays most all shooters somewhat)

I know what you mean, I was trying to show some friends around TF2 this weekend who were new to the game and they got a little frustrated because everyone else seemed to know what they were doing. It takes awhile to get the roles down and figure out strategy and such. But once you do start to understand good tactics in this game it becomes pretty addicting. I'm learning new things all the time in public matches usually from people who are kicking my ass.


you should try a CAG match, it's probably the best low stress way to learn.

So I'll host this thursday. I'll start it at 6:00 PST/9:00 EST and run it for 2 or 3 hours.

My strategy before was to keep some open private slots for invites but the previous 2 times I did it, folks were still getting the "game is full" message. It might be that the game will only open during the lobby?

I love this game. I find myself playing this almost every night!
I am really loving the different classes. I have a lot of fun with the engineer, soldier, and demoman. However, I like to step out of my comfort zone and play as the sniper and the scout.

quick question about the grey matter (25 headshots) acheivement, does it have to occur in ranked matches or can you get it in player (or whatever the casual matches are called) matches? Also, do you have to complete the matches for the headshots to count? The only reason i ask is because when i started a player match i had 5 headshots according to the acheivement counter thingy, i got like 3 more and then checked the my acheivements and it still said 5. Anybody got an answer?

You have to be sure you get a headshot, just hitting them near the head won't count, usually it says critical hit if you got a head shot. A quick way to get this is to play on 2Fort and you can bring in the head shots easy.

I just got Orange Box the other day. I was a pretty big TFC player back in the day, but now I don't have the comp to run TF2, so unfortunately I have to play it on the 360. While it's still fun, I still feel I lack some ability to do things.

Anyways, I'm looking for some half-decent players to play with. I've only maybe played with/against 2-3 decent players on LIVE.

On 2 Fort a round is consider the period of time it takes for either team to get 3 flag captures and win.

Have you ever had guys be exploiting on the map with the launchpad control point where they build turrets on top of the map? Being on defense and successfully defending the CP when the other team is cheating is one of the best experiences ever.

During our nightly COD4 matches some CAGS expressed interest
in playing. I know some people find TF2 a bit overwhelming since
it has a pretty steep learning curve, and its hard to find people who
will teach a new player during a game.
I would like to try a set up some sort of tutorial/practice games
so those who have had a rough time getting into TF2 can get a basic
understanding and feel for the characters and gameplay.
If anyone is interested please post here and lets see what we can get set up.

Team Fortress 2 got a patch over the weekend. Just googled it as I was wondering what the update was when I fired up Orange Box for some Half Life 2 Episode 2 on Saturday. PC version got a bigger update. No patch or update for the PS3 version yet.

The 360 updates are completely different, as revealed on the Steam Forums; most of the console tweaks were fixes rather than new modes or major adjustments. The game now prevents hosts from selecting sizes above bandwidth limits, along with improving handling of bandwidth spikes, which should help with the infamous lag on the console version. I agree. the CAG Fortress2 Friend list may be full, but the majority of these
people are not playing with other CAGS. Much like the COD4 list.

WTF!?!

Ever since the patch came out, I can't seem to stay in a game for more than 20 minutes at a time. if I host a game, people get dropped like flies. Twice in one game, everyone but 4 people in a 14 player game got dropped. Anyone else getting this?
