- oblivion is a must buy
- forza if you like sim racers, burnout if you like arcade, pgr3/4 if you like somewhere imbetween
- dead rising, viva pinata, tomb raider, marvel ultimate alliance are worth looking into

otherwise, i'd say guitar hero III, pgr 4, or beautiful katamari. I'm sure there's some decent ones on xbla too... geometry wars and hexic (i think that one's still free) come to mind.

Bioshock is great not a lot of replay value and it's short. Rent
Orange Box amazing. Portal Rocks(short but fun with some replay value.) TF2 is a ton of fun. HL2, EP1-2 are great. BUY IT!
Halo 3 It has it's faults. But it's Halo. It's fun. The online is fun. The story is good. The forge and theater are fun to play with. BUY
Rainbow 6 Vegas I love this game. I can't begin to tell you how many hours of spent online with my friends.

Perfect Dark Zero Often overlooked. This is a fun game. BUY
I haven't played it yet but Call of Duty 4 looks like a buy for sure. If you like WWII type stuff CoD2 or 3 isn't bad.

Oblivion The odd thing is it's a FPSish RPG. It's great it's HUGE. It isn't for everyone. But at $25 used(Blockbuster) it's BUY
Forza 2 If you love racing Sims and fiddling with stuff. It's seriously a great game. BUY
Virtua Fighter 5 I was very bummed when I found out at first this was going to be a PS3 only game. I LOVE my VF. I think it's the best fighting game out there. So I was greatly happy when I heard it was coming out on the 360. (it's out now) BUY IT!
Condemed is great and cheap. BUY
Burnout Revenge Just pure crashing FUN. If Forza isn't your type of race game then this one might fit the bill. BUY
Dead Rising I loved this one. BUY
Earth Defense Force 2017 I just really enjoyed this game. It's not perfect but new it was a "budget" title and I just found it really entertaining. BUY
Beautiful Katamari I love these games. But again a not for everyone kind of game. It's funny, weird and different. BUY
Lego Star Wars It's star wars AND legos. It's funny it's got replay value. BUY!!!
Viva Pinata Another great different game. I get tired of all the FPS/shooting games after awhile. Again a not for everyone kind of game but I love it. BUY
Lost Planet I enjoyed this game. If you can find it cheap BUY
Tomb Raider Legend At a long time of bad games we got another GOOD Tomb Raider game. BUY
Ace Combat 6 Dogfighting. Weeeeee BUY
Guitar Hero cause it ROCKS!!! Fun at parties also. BUY
Gears of War I really enjoyed the single player aspect. Never really got into the online of this one. Get a good deal on it and BUY

Tomb Raider Legend & Anniversary are really good. Anniversary can be found for $30-$40..and Legend can be found for like >$15..nice buys.

Kameo: Elements of Power is a GREAT game. It's beautiful, it's fun, it's challenging--but not ::rips out hair::..and can be found cheap :)

Crackdown is just fun. Seriously.
Saints Row is also fun.

Eternal Sonata is a fun RPG and it's pretty long. It's one of the better RPG's I've played in awhile.

On XBLA, Puzzle Quest is ridiculously addictive. Pac-Man Championship Edition, Puzzle Fighter, Every Extend Extra Extreme, Uno, Feeding Frenzy (I love that game!), and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 are ALL good!

But there's lots of demos on the marketplace..so def check them all out. Same goes for the XBLA games :)
