I purchased a halo 360 edition and wanted to transfer my save game data over from my premium 20g to the new halo 360. Well after lots of research I found i needed either the Xport or Xsata and after searching my area i found one store with a Xsata.

Well I used the Xplorer software and did a backup image of my old premium system. Then I pluged it into my halo 360 and did a restore image on it. When i got done the HDD on the Halo 360 is not recognized. But i can see there is data on it with explorer program. Anyone know if I can restore this still? What did I do wrong?

I tried to go to their forums at 360gamesaves.com but they wont let me access their forum until I am validated by a admin.

Ofourse, you could have just got the free transfer kit from Microsoft...

I assume that your old 20GB from the premium is OK and still has the data on it, if so I would say get your hands on one of the official transfer cables and do that. As for the drive, you're fucked .... just kidding, can't you just go in and reformat it?

Transfer cable only allows the transfer of info from a 20GB to a 120GB, plus it blanks the 20GB when it's done with the transfer. 20GB to 20GB isn't supported.

thank you for clarifying that for the people above.

I guess I'm screwed. All so I could keep my Original xbox saves on my 360 too. Now I have to return my halo console back to costco but they don't even carry it anymore. I still cant believe that thing doesn't work.

The only way you could carry your saves over to the Halo console would be to move the drive itself onto the Halo console and use it there, which would look a little odd.

I do know that when I get the 120GB upgrade for my Premium and used the transfer cable and SW, it was painless. Took about an hour or so and I didn't have any issues.

Um, why dont you just transfer your game saves to a memory card? That's what I do.

Just to add a little to the clarification, 120-120 isn't possible either with the MS transfer kit. There's only one reason to want to do that, I suppose, for the "continuity" of the darker 120GB color that comes with the elite.. But I use my older 120 with my elite and it's fine. :) It's the same principle as the halo 3 one.. for the color... (considering they made a nice orange, or something like that for the Halo edition..)

Now if I ever need a spare 360... I can get an arcade bundle. :)

That's what I was going to ask.

I prefer the datel transfer kit over xsata. It easier to set up with the tutorials on 360gamesaves.com. Plus, its good for gamesaving (My gamerscore used to be ~71,000 for a reason)

I think the problem is it sounds like you did a full image backup/restore instead of just backing up the individual saves, correct?

It has been a while since I've used my XSATA but I am pretty sure it basically tells you, in regards to a full image backup/restore "We allow you to do this but it won't work to backup to a new drive"

Can you reformat the new drive, and then just try to transfer the save files over? (using the explorer software that comes with it) Again, it's been a while since I've tried it, so I'm sorry I can't be more specific. I am fairly certain it is doable though...

 I'm sorry but you are bragging about cheating? No, I was just trying to say that gamesaving is a good way of bringing up your gamerscore. Its not like I'm going online and modding or hacking.
