View Full Version : QQ: Hard-drive = Big Memory Card?

So, a quick question. Can the hard-drive act like a big memory card?

I'm taking GH3 over to my brothers and of course he doesn't have any of the songs unlocked. So am I able to take my Hard Drive and switch it with his to access all my unlocked content? Or is it going to overwrite some of his items or cause confusion between the console and the HDD?

I'm worried if there is any internal memory that would conflict with my HDD that would leave my HDD with less data or his 360 with some confusion.

So basically, can you use your HDD as a memory card?

Sorry if this is a repost.
Thanks.

Should be fine.
Sign into your account on the other machine to be sure. It wouldn't overwrite anything of his because it wouldn't know his hard drive existed. It just sees that there is one there.

k, so there is no internal memory that could screw it up?

I'm not entirely sure what your referring to. The internal memory doesn't store anything permanently.

It's like starting the 360 without a hard drive.
It starts fine and you can play games, you can't do any xbox live or save but it won't complain about it.

Yea, I knew the memory gets erased after the console is turned off. But, I wasn't sure if it stored anything like profiles or console settings that could react with my hdd.

The profiles are saved onto the hard drive.

Yes. Exactly as a memory card.

Just pop it into his 360 and sign onto your profile, everything you've unlocked will be available to you. It will not cause any problems.

Why do you even need to bring your HD? You can recover your tag on his 360 and access your unlocked content. Unless you're talking about DLC you don't want to download again.

What are you on? Recovering your profile does not recover game saves. Recovering a profile will not unlock his content. Unless I'm on a completely different planet, I'm pretty sure you know what the hell you're talking about.

Also if you've played a lot of games that save to the profile (mainly those are arcade games), it takes a lot of time to recover. Mine is about 15MB

If you have ANY xbox live arcade games you do not want to do that because you won't be able to play Xbox live arcade games offline then OR use xbox live gold for other profiles.

Some games save unlockables to your profile. When I was at my cousins house and played MUA under my profile on his 360 and put in all the codes it saved the extra charcters on my profile. So when I brought my elite and recovered my gamertag on the new 360 it gave me all the characters. I do think you need to have your gamertag linked too I have it linked to my hotmail account.

Yeah it does a double registration with Live! purchases. One registration to the purchaser's profile and one to the console.
