When I called TRu inc. their call center (india?) stayed on the phone with me for 30 mins trying to resolve the xbox coupon fiasco. They are working on it. The coupons expire in 04/04 so we have plenty of time (for the prices to lower). I also learned a few things/tricks that I will try to use in-store today. I'll get back to you all.

how/why do you hijack a thread like this one? BBB has his/her "codes of the day" and i have mine and hopefully others will contribute. Do you really want to read another thread each day and keep hitting refresh? is that how everyone feels? if that's how you, SuperNothing, feel I will no longer post any codes. the funny thing is that if i post codes on a new thread, I may be asked to move them to this one... or CAGers may miss out on some of the hot deals. or i may post similar codes somewhere else and waste everyone's time. what would be my motive? doesn't everyone benefit? try to do good and someone will always complain. what a waste of my time... would you be feeling this way if you saw a code for a game you wanted?

also, the management at TRU has NO idea this promotion exists. They thought I was insane and mistaken. Showed him a printout and he said that I must have faked the ad to scam them and wanted to confiscate my printout - the funniest thing I've ever heard. I wasn't trying to purchase, just wanted to see when it starts instore. Told him he's a fool and he should call corporate to alert them to this new "scam" going around. He wanted my contact info in case I was correct, so I wrote my screen name "Mr. Rhee" on the printout and the local rejection hotline phone number. FYI the Xbox codes still aren't working yet. Weird thing though, it shows free shipping is available for Simpsons Hit & Run but doesn't give you the option for free shipping at checkout. That would make this a better deal, since S&H + tax adds almost $10 to the final price.

Yes it should have free shipping, I was just pointing out that the free shipping on certain games is not linked with the free shipping on orders over $25. It is a completely separate offer.

I think the $25 minimum is for orders placed thru AMAZON, not TRU. and usually doesn't apply to video games, but in this instance there is an entire page that lists lots of TRU games that qualify for free ship. Place the order, then call AMZ to adjust shipping, if they don't tell them to cancel order or give you a small credit for your next order. Sometimes works YMMV.

When I get a code, I'm sharing it right away. Why?

If YOU (and I mean YOU) bought something today and I already had a code for it that I kept to myself, it would suck if you find out tomorrow that you could have saved $20 if you waited a day. But if you found out that I had ALWAYS had the codes all this time, it would suck even worse.

So maybe BBB is out getting more codes. If he's sore that we're all posting too many codes then that makes no sense.

if some of you think that because the codes are all out there, that you're missing out on all the deals... that makes even less sense.

If this was BBB's board, then it should not be called "TRU code of the day". It should have been called "BBB's codes" and been post-locked for only BBB to post. I ran across this board and decided to post my codes because there was no better place to post them on CAG. think about the title of this board people. if you didn't benefit directly from some of the codes that's you're own decision. if I started another thread that was so similar to this one, cheapyd may have absorbed mine anyway and who has time to read another board with such a similar thread?

and yet, none of this answers the question: "Where is BBB?" There can only be a few explanations for his/her disappearance.

We'll find out soon I hope.

In the meantime, if some of you only want BBB to post codes here, let us know so we can hold our breath and keep codes to ourselves. fine by me.

another thing... it appears BBB had one of the coupon books that TRU gave out when a SYSTEM (PS2/XBX) was sold, bundled within the blister pack. The books contain $400 worth of codes. all neatly bound and with online 6-digit codes for use on TRU/AMZ. I'm not going to or want to spend $260 for a ps2/xbx bundle just for the coupon books. there are smarter/faster/cheaper ways. some codes are not free, cheap, or easy to obtain and you need reliable sources and informants. I don't have the booklets, I have sources that provide the codes, sometimes 1 sometimes plenty. as soon as I get them, you'll find them here or wherever my posts belong... this site or another site... just don't be jaded by "1-a-day was so much better." ... who needs the suspense... most of us want as many coupons & deals as possible TODAY so we can go buy the games NOW.

plus when you have more codes, and since they are stackable (more than one code can be used in the same transaction) you will save more on SHIPPING when ordering more games together then one at a time.

I ordered 1 game for $5+ shipping but 7 games for $8. 7 games for $60 +/- after 7 coupons.

those of you that are ungrateful, you can stay that way. I'm here to shop and save. maybe those that are ungrateful should contribute some codes/deals of their own instead of bashing the people with the codes. the term "gift horse" comes to mind.

I ordered a ton of stuff from Amazon and I have not gotten charged any tax except if the item is from another store(like TRU or OfficeDepot) that has a B&M store in my state of PA. If you're talking about the games from this thread, they come from TRU and I think there's a TRU is about every state.

Anywhere you find one of these B&M stores, you end up with sales tax from Amazon. Not too bad considering how deeply most product is usually discounted by Amazon -- well not the video games, but everything else.

So techincally they are not a rip-off, they are just abiding by the law.

And as bmulligan points out - the shipping cost is not included in the calculation.

Considering that the Xbox versions are still selling at full price, I'd say they will be around long enough for the Xbox faithful to pick them up once Amazon fixes the codes. The only versions flying off the shelves are PS2 so I don't think there's much to worry about.

even if you scanned them in, they state: coupons are void if copied.

These coupons are very small & double-sided so you would have to manipulate the image so the in-store clerk can scan the bar code on back. I had a few of them that were already redeemed and red-lined, and the management told me that they can't honor a copy/print out for these particular coupons but he advised me to use the codes online.

The policy is that they only have to price match it if the store selling it has it in stock. It just really depends who you ask. Because if it is a small sale then they mostly do it. FWIW--Amazon doesn't 'charge' tax, they collect it, on behalf of your friendly neighbourhood state government, who says that since Toys R Us [which is from whom these games are being purchased]has a physical presence in your state, sales tax [if any] must be collected even though you're ordering online. And some states' tax forms this year have a space to record your online purchases so you can pay the full state sales tax retroactively, and do your part to keep the machine going, because once they get tax dollars in, it's very hard for them to give a source of that 'revenue.' If you're old enough to vote, remember that on election day--in 2003, if you worked, you basically worked until April 19 just to pay all the taxes required of you [actually that was the earliest Tax Freedom Day in 11 years.]
Shipping, now, that's another issue--but I've always been impressed with thesecure packaging Amazon and its vendors use, and once it gets shipped, it usually arrives pretty quickly.

How is Dynasty Tactics 2? I like the tactics games, as long as they're not *too* in depth [I don't like RTS]. I loved Final Fantasy Tactics, Vandal Hearts 1 and 2, Heroes of Might and Magic. Liked Tactics Ogre, but it got too hard too quick, and I canNOT get into Disgaea.
Anyway, I got Simpsons Hit and Run yesterday, and Beach Volleyball Monday. Of course, Simpsons was 36, I think, in my paper's flyers this week, but five bucks is five bucks, and I clicked Cheapy's link. I'm not real far into Volleyball yet, but so far it's pretty fun. Took me a while to get into the rhythm--I lost my first five games with a total of about 4 points, but then started getting some good volleys and actually winning some. I really like the animations after sets, very lifelike [so far.] And of course can't beat the price.

Dynasty Tactics 2 (PS2) is the BEST tactics game (If you like Romance of the Three Kingdoms & Dynasty Warriors). The Graphic is Incredible compare to Romance of the Three Kingdoms series.

I went for it. I haven't actually played any of the more recent tactics games, like RotTK or DW [I just got my PS2 for Christmas.] Closest I've come so far is Gladius [coincidentally, also ordered through/via/because of this site.]

Actually, I was just thinking today, I got my PS2 for Christmas...I have gotten on average one game a week since then. I have beaten, oh, none. One of them came with the unit, and two others I bought with free gift cards [literally free, not even gifts]. I think only 5 of the games i have cost more than 30 bucks, and that's because they were all just-released games [except for GTA double pack], and the rest probably average 7-12 bucks each, thanks to info and links on this site.
Free after shipping games I can rationalize, because my Blockbuster, apart from having crappy selections, charge I think 6.50 for a week rental, so if I can buy a game I'm even slightly interested in new or in like-new condition for less than that [SHBVball], I consider myself ahead.

If only I could buy time to play all these games! I can really only play late at night or for a couple of hours while my baby's napping on weekends, but then my wife wants to play Champions of Norrath, which certainly I don't mind that she's into the game, but sometimes I want to play something else. I guess that's a personal issue :)

nope! Those sells were to get rid of that item. Probily won't be in stock anymore. I used to work at the tru destrubution store and after they sell off the item its barcode is removed and a new one is put in its place. They have say 150 slots for videogames got move some out to make room for the new stuff.
