Okay so, working at GC allows me to rent movies early, and as such, I rented both the rated/unrated version (on one disc) as well as the blu ray version.
First off, in the unrated version, he does say his yippie ki yay line. finally.. However, the audio on the rated/unrated version takes a noticible hit. It sounds awful. I'm guessing this is due to both a rated and unrated version being on the disc. No problem, just pick up the blu ray version, right? Wrong.
The blu ray version, the 50gb disc (yes, this title is on a dual layer blu ray disc) does not contain the unrated version of the movie. I'll say it once more. The blu ray version does not contain the unrated version of the movie. This is a huge disappointment to me. Sure, it's just a few extra lines, but if you read the spoiler above, you'd understand. I just can't get over the fact that it's a DUAL LAYER BLU RAY DISC and it does NOT contain the unrated version!!!
That said, there is a version that's unrated and unrated only. I haven't seen this one, i'm assuming the audio is better on it since there's no crappy rated version on there.
So, I guess this one's the one to get:

My guess Scorch on the line in question is that it might of been badly recorded/mixed/dubbed in. That would have nothing to do with the disc having the PG-13 cut or not. And yeah... Fox said straight up that the Bluray version was only going to have the PG-13 cut. Which translates into a future re-release on Blu (and maybe even HD-DVD) with the Unrated cut.
Also I believe the 2 disc DVD has both the PG-13 and Unrated.

It's not just the extra lines that sound shitty. It's the entire movie. I was saying that i don't think the audio was quite the quality it could've been had the rated version not been on the disc. Which is why I said the unrated only version probably sounds better.
It's hard to describe. You hear the explosions, but there's no etra boom.. it's like a hollow explosion. Maybe i'm spoiled with the audio on blu ray discs or something, but the audio on the rated/unrated disc was horrible.

D'OH. I thought you were saying the audio took a hit on the Unrated when he said that line. I see what you mean. My bad.

So the ONLY extra in the Unrated version is the one line?

The rating description for the Unrated also mentioned something about sexual situations. Whatever that means.

This has been well-known for a while now, it really sucks if you wanted to buy the collection. Inevitable double-dip to come.
So the ONLY extra in the Unrated version is the one line?
There was some German site that catalogued all of the changes. Basically, more blood and a lot more "fucks."

I assume it's the same on the Blu-ray collection as well?

No, but the one line I like is in the unrated. There's a lot more "fuck"s. Off the top of my head.. "shut the fuck up" "fuck you" "fuckhead".. there's a couple extra scenes, nothing really worth noting, mostly just an extra part to a scene that was already there.
Oh, and in the PG13 version, when he crashes the car into the helicopter, he said "I ran out of bullets." In the unrated, he says something to the effect of "There's a lot of people killed in car wrecks each year.. and there's three more" or something to that effect.

Let me make sure I've got this straight.
1) The audio is noticeably inferior on the regular/bare-bones rated/unrated edition.
2) The collector's edition is unrated only. Does the audio also suffer on this version?
3) So unrated includes the classic line while omitting the "I ran out of bullets" line.
4) Blu-ray is the PG-13 version only, no unrated version. How's the audio on Blu-ray?

Myself, a friend and a friend's tech geek father all noticed the inferior audio, so I don't think it's just me.
2) The collector's edition is unrated only. Does the audio also suffer on this version?
The collector's version is only being sold, rental stores did not get it in, so I was unable to view it.
3) So unrated includes the classic line while omitting the "I ran out of bullets" line.
The rated version has the line, but it's more like "mother fu*gunshot*".. in the unrated, it actually has the full line. And the UR does not contain the "I ran out of bullets" line. Which makes sense, because I don't recall him shooting at anyone in that scene.
4) Blu-ray is the PG-13 version only, no unrated version. How's the audio on Blu-ray?
I'll let you know shortly. It claims to have "lossless" audio.

I'm getting the Steelbook edition tomorrow, and that's the Unrated Collector's Edition. I've already heard parts of it, and it sounds fine, so, yeah.
Also, by my count, there are exactly 26 clearly audible "fucks" in the Unrated version (and 30 "shits," way more than the theatrical version). Nothing compared to the, like, 80-something in the original, but way more Die Hard-y, if you ask me. Can't have Die Hard without "fuck."

Eh, they've released 3 seperate versions of the previous movies on DVD. Nothing makes me believe they won't release the unrated version on blu ray at some point. Until then I'll just have to do the inevitably shitty wait... I really hope other blu ray owners do the same so Fox learns their fucking lesson. This PG13 cut was one thing for the theater (I mean it doesn't make too much sense given that most fans of the series are probably 17 or older anyway) but to not have seamless branching on the blu ray version with its 50 gb of disc space is inexcusable.

Yeah, I'll take the incredible leap in PQ over the four or five extra f-bombs. Especially since what I saw in the theater I enjoyed very much. The OP would like you to think the movie was been changed from it's theatrical presention because of his loyality to the HD DVD format.

Oh please, it has been changed. More f-bombs, no more obviously dubbed audio, and now there's no more weird cuts in the movie. They show the blood now, and all the cussing. This is one of the few unrated movies where there is actually a worthwile, noticeable difference.

um.. I don't have an HD player.. and I don't plan to get one.. what the fuck are you talking about?
I watched a bit of it on Blu Ray and it was phenominal.. the movie itself is a hair under 28GB on the disc (it outputs at 28MBPS).. the sound is great and the explosions shake the wall as they're supposed to.

OH WOW ... I was getting ready to pick this + the other 3 movies at CC today. Too bad there wasn't a box set...but now I am glad I didn't buy this today. I'll just wait for the box set with the corrections.
