Famitsu has revealed that a port of the original game will be hitting the PS2 this February in Japan, complete with updated graphics and 16:9 modes for those newfangled wide screen televisions we keep hearing about.

12/14 UPDATE: Christmas NiGHTS will be included as an unlockable.

Odd to suddenly be porting an 11 year old Saturn game. Shouldn't it at least be bundled with some other games?

Probably going to be released as part of the Sega Ages Collection. So it will more then likely be $20-$30 to import from Play-Asia.

nothing odd about it as Sega ported most of their Saturn games to PS2 like Die hard Arcade, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Fighter 2, Fighter Viper, Virtua On.

They did? I've never seen DHA for the PS2 - or was that a Japan-only thing?

Japan-only. It was released as Vol. 26 of the Sega Ages series, under its Japanese name, Dynamite Deka.

You can read about each of the Sega Ages volumes, up to Vol. 30, here:
http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/segaages/segaages.htm

The list doesn't include the latest volume, Vol. 31: Virtual-On. Apparently, in this version of Virtual-On, they added the ability to play as Z-gradt, the game's final boss.

If it has any extra stuff and is cheap, I might pick it up. Though it might be a waste of money for me since I have it on Saturn already and the money might be better spent on the Wii version

yea they often add some minor stuff. For the PS2 version of Dragon Force it got some extra too. The only game that is missing stuff is Fighting Viper, which is now missing Pespiman.

Gah, Dragon Force.

I hate how we never get the hot shit.

It's not just NiGHTS in the package, they're now including the semi-expansion Christmas NiGHTS as an unlockable:

Wow. And I just bought a factory sealed Christmas NiGHTS (Japanese version) off of eBay for like $30.

Does anyone know if this game is playable for those of us who can't read/speak Japanese? It seems like it might be a good candidate for import, but I'm not sure.

The JP Saturn version of Nights is completely playable without knowing Japanese (it's what I have at the moment). I don't know if this one will be the same but if it is, I'll probably wind up getting it.
