This seems like the stupidest idea I have ever heard. SP is going to suck if they censor it, even whole episodes will have to be changed. There's the Shit episode, the Passion of the Jew episode, not to mention all of the other racy and cuss-filled episodes. I think this is one of those shows that should just be left alone.

SELL-OUT

though they probably don't retain the rights to the series, comedy central probably owns the rights.

I know I won't be watching it. All of the charm of the series would be lost.

I am sick of this censoring bullshit. They are damn words people. Did it hurt you when you read those two words? So what is the big deal?

As you should know, the creators of South Park try to push the envelope, and this for them is totally selling out. Could someone please tell me what is so bad about cursewords?

Since you know so much about it, BigNick, why don't you elaborate? ;)

FINE, I WATCHED SEX AND THE CITY. Only because it was on after The Sopranos. It was fully of nudity and curse words, and then they syndicated it from HBO to TBS.

Many, many men watched sex and the city. I would have watched it even if my girlfriend wasn't addicted to it. It was quality telievision. Notice I said WAS ... TBS is stuck in the stone age when it comes to sensoring. They even bleep out words like 'poop'.[/i]

wow..they give you 8 years of great cartoons, a few good movies (and soon... TEAM AMERICA (http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/team_america/)-Link)and the company who ownes the rights throws the series into syndication and Matt & Trey are instant sellouts. nice.

I guess Tarintino is a sellout because they show his movies censored on tv. Hate the idea, but think it through first.

While we're speaking in the general area of freedom of speach, what ever happen to this guy?:

We never managed to get his rights back, did we?

First off...Sterns a douche.

Second, Clear Channel can so kiss my ass.

I may not like the guy, BUT he stays within the boundries that were set...now they're royally giving it to him in the rear.

Working at a Comic Book store, i fight the good fight against censorship everyday...but it a selective battle. Should people be able to buy whatever the hell they want (within legal reason)? yes. should children? nope. From that general idea, it gets kinda wonky...how much is up to the parents and how liable are the people who put it out when the children act on thier own?

Speaking of OK censoring : FUCK

Wow, never expected this to ever happen. I thought the show was way to racy for normal television, but if Sex and the City can do it, than why not South Park. Then again, since they haven't finished their censorship of the show, it might not be that different. I mean we've seen this show for 8 years now and I guess it has desensitized people/ the nation. I remember when a ton of South Park's episodes were on the news for being to provacative (sp).

i think it's ok if they get it into syndication. i mean, as long as they keep making new (good) episodes, then i couldn't care less if the show ends up being on after the local news at 6, or maybe even on after the simpsons (could we see a simpsons episode followed by "simpson's did it"?).

i imagine that episodes like "the passion of the jew" just won't be televised. not like it matters, since it seems like everytime a show goes into syndication the stations always play the same 6 episodes over and over again (seinfeld is great, but i can only laugh so much at jerry's attempts to figure out what body part that woman's body her name rhymes with).

it might be interesting to see what happens to some of the episodes, but the truth is that i will never watch one of the syndicated broadcasts, because you don't have to when you own the dvds.

Wait, so this if official, they're gonna start censoring South Park?

they are going to censor the syndicated episodes, not the episodes on comedy central. so, if you see the show on your local station that plays other reruns of older shows (syndicated television shows), you will most likely see episodes that are edited for their content. but as i said, the episodes you see on comedy central won't be fiddled with.

At least they have plenty of time to figure out how to not butcher the episodes.

Once they realize they can only show like 20 episodes, I think most stations will not pick it up

F*ck censorship. South Park is no more..

Word for the day: Comprehension

South Park on Comedy Central is going to be as usual. R rated content with censoring simply for effect

South Park oin syndication will be censored, both in language and content, but will be availble to more people thus making the brand even more lucrative.

South park is no more? Dramatic much?

some whole storylines might wind up on the cutting-room floor.

Also, cutting out parts due to "content" just won't cut it. Dramatic much? Not really..

Ok, here's the problem im having with people complaining about this, or syaing M&T are sellouts, or that Southpark as we know it is over... You can still see all new episodes, and all your favorites, on comedy central. Putting something into wider release does NOT effect the original product, especially when its still availble.

Now, if you really want to talk to people affected by changes and edits to the original, with the originals barely obtainable, talk to a Star Wars geek.

Have you ever listened to Slipknot's new album? Compare that with the older albums. Get the picture? Slipknot thought about "wider release".. look at them now.

if you are trying to say that new episodes of south park will be less edgy or watered down so that less will be cut out once the episodes hit syndication, that may be a good point. however, i don't believe it to be true.

if that's not what you meant, then i have no idea what you are talking about and chances are you don't either.

good thing you left off
"however, i don't believe it to be true. " from that qoute, otherwise you might have been wrong.

think about this...they could have a made a pg-13 South Park movie...made a shit load more money...but they made a VERY hard R. World Police will be the same thing. They have the money, they are going out there with thier opinions, and getting them out however the hell they want.

and slipknot sucks anyways (i love being condescending after a valid point :) )

i bet if it didnt get those emmy nominations none of this would be happening. I think we should not watch it once they syndicate it then maybe they'll change their minds.
