View Full Version : What School of Fighters are you from?

Inspired by all the fighter threads popping up, from which of the two main schools do you hail from: SNK, or Capcom? I'm a SNK fanboy, through and through (though Darkstalkers is cool).

4 Buttons for ever.

If I get enough requests, I'll add more schools.

Capcom. Definitely. I only recently started playing SNK stuff thoroughly, and boy have I been missing out.

You should probably go ahead and add a Namco school, what with the popularity of Tekken and Soul Calibur.

Hmmm. I prefer KOF over SF, but I LOVE MVC 2 and some of the other crazy 2D Capcom fighters (Vampire Chronicle, etc.).

However, I've gotta say I'm a Guilty Gear fanboy above anything else. Its the first fighting game series I actually really got into and can whoop all my friends at. CAN'T WAIT FOR GG ISUKA!

I'm in the "I don't like any fighters besides Super Smash Bros. Melee school".

Yes, you have. Last Blade 2 is the best fighter ever.

And this is odd. It won't let me add poll choices. Maybe someone else can make a poll with the other schools, and leave this one to the two main schools of fighting.

I played Garou the other day for the first time with my SNK-fanboy friend. I picked Freeman for no reason at all, and cheaped my way through 6 straight victories, bringing me to the conclusion that Freeman is the cheapest fighting game character ever.

And I'm buying the KOF '02/03 compilation later this year to play catch up on all the SNK goodness I've been missing.

I'm in the "I don't like any fighters besides Super Smash Bros. Melee school".

I'm from a similar school. It's the "I'm not good at any fighters but Super Smash Bros. Melee School". I think your school and mine are on the exchange program.

I still remember getting SFII:CE on Genny for Christmas when I was 10. Many faces were rocked that Christmas...

I'm siding with sneakyP and going with SNK...I think I may be the only guy ever who played Fatal Fury on the SNES before Street Fighter 2.

Capcom all the way. I don't think I've ever fought my friends in a home console SNK game, but I have memories up the wazoo of unofficial weekend SF tourneys.

I'm from the Capcom school. BUT this is partly due to the fact that I am better at Capcom games compared to SNK. I wish I could be in teh SNK boat equally. Also, I don't hate on the other company's games like people from SRK or neo-geo.com's forums tend to do. I like them both. To me, SNK has more style and a bit more innovative than Capcom. They're fresher and change things up more than Capcom (I'm still upset about the fact that Capcom Fighting Jam will include the original Drakstalkers sprites; did Capcom not realize Morrigan was ugly in CVS2 3 years ago?) At least SNK's old sprites are consistent. And Athena and Kyo go through regular updates.
Also, none of my friends play KOF so I have no one to play against unless I go to the arcade. MOTW is awesome as well and I enjoy KOF2003 helluva lot more than MVC2. I predominantly use SNK characters in CVS2 (my only Capcom character is Maki of all people). SNK makes hella good games. But then again, look at my sig.

personaly I like capcom better, I got in a little late but I guess that just gives me fair play to everything, snk fighters are nice and all but they lack the depth of oh, capcom vs snk 2. CvS2 and SSBM I don't think will ever get toped in my books.
Now if they could somehow make a game with Fox and Chun-Li that wasn't garbage...

Capcom fighting games were the first ones that I played seriously, however Samurai Shodown is my favorite fighting game of all time.

Best fighters ever: Real Bout 2 and Last Blade 2. There's plenty of good new fighters, but none that match the overall quality and balance of RB2 or LB2. People whose whole experience with SNK is the KOF series are missing out on the better fighters. Also surprised there's no Sammy school, seems like all the serious players play GG these days.

I love em both (I actually bought a Neo Geo CD so I could enjoy some of the fighters and other games that didn't come out on Saturn or Dreamcast) but I give a nod to Capcom here. Guilty Gear and Soul Calibur are awesome as well.

I don't really play a lot of fighting games. Actually, the only 2D fighters I've ever had are the online one for Xbox, and two for NGPC. Since I have Neo Geo Pocket Color, then I'll go with SNK.

I'll have to go with Capcom as SFII was my first fighter and they had megaman on their side in snk vs capcom.

As any hardcore fighter does, I love SNK's games. But Capcom was, as Mr. White would say, my first, my last, my everything.

Capcom, but not the slow Street Fighterish games. I like the faster, crazier games, MVC2, Darkstalkers, JoJo's Venture, etc. Thought my new fave is Guilty Gear, sooooo SAMMY!

I'm in the Capcom camp since I was first hooked on their games and tend to enjoy them a little more. I like all of their combo game like their vs. series such as Marvle vs./capcom vs. Darkstalkers was a great game that I wish they would do some more sequesls as well as Jojo bizarre adventure. I have played the SNK like fatul Fury, KOF, and the like but I don't like them as much as the Capcom fighters. I loved Samurai Showdown from SNK and want more sequels. I used to own at that game. I won a few tournaments of that game. My vote would have gone to SNK because of Samurai Showdown, but I like more capcom 2d fighter games so I gave it to them. I'm still trying to find a cheap Guilty gear game. Sneaky you should have included Midway for Mortal Kombat and Namco for Tekken and Soul Calibur.

CAPCOM fighters are superior . From SFII:CE, SSFIII (all), and the fighters with Marvel are just better than anything SNK has put out aside.

The fatal fury series is the only SNK series I really like (and I have a ton of SNK fighters). Smaurai Showdown is fun in small doses, and KOF is decent.

Capcom. I don't play fighting games much now, but the very first games I played were Street fighter games at my brother's friend's house. So that where I learned my stuff...

Never played SNK games. However, Capcom (namely SF) never did it for me when they were relevant, and now it looks like they don't even care anymore.

Started playing Street Fighter in arcade as a kid. I love Capcom's fighting games (Street Fighters and Marvel vs Capcom) and SNK's samurai's showdown series and Namco's Tekken series.

I'd have to go with Capcom from the two choices given. I mean how do you top the Haydoken?

My favorite fighting game of all time i think is one of the iterations of Virtua Fighter 4. It's just awesome. Soul Caliber is a close second tho. I guess I'm just more attuned to the 3-D games.
