Neo Pets?

Anyone here into Neo Pets or whatever?

I would like for them to be explained a bit more to me.
I just bought a site http://www.neoboards.com so I will have to learn a few things I guess.

I used to play alot, and when I recently tried to get back in, I found my firewall doesn't like the game, so I'm out for now. I still know a lot though.

i used to go on there quite a lot actually, but then i just thought it was pointless and went back to playing wc3/cs. my brother still plays it quite a lot though.

My kids have a few NeoPets and from what I can tell, they are just toys that light up and roll around. Supposedly, they respond to their names and stuff, but I dunno for sure about that.

I was into Neopets for like, 2 days. Then I forgot about it. I wonder if my account is still there.

Basically, you go on to their site, sign up for an account, and adopt a neopet.

After you adopt it, you join into a community of other neopet owners, where you can purchase items, food and such to strengthen, enlighten and generally grow your neopet.

You can fight your neopet in the arena and other things, but the entire thing appears to be built around playing games, submitting the points you earn and buying rare, superrare and ultrarare items.

There's probably more to it, but from watching my brother play, that's all I see going on.

it may be strange that I bought a site that I am unfamiliar with the subject but I didnt pay much and also the site has an ok revenue income to justify the purchase...
I sort of had an idea about neo pets and what it was about so I wasnt totally clueless.
