A little advice

I've decided that since Amazon won't honor the extras I'm putting my Wii on E-Bay. I already can't really justify the purchase and now with me having to buy more stuff for a two player affair, it's being sent out.

My only issue is that this is my second auction. My first one went smooth. I found a great buyer, he paid quickly, and we left each other positive feedbacks. However, my second one is a doozy. I'm afraid of people being worried about my low feedback or people stiffing me. Any suggestions CAGs?

P.S. I understand that I'm following the same method of exploiting the "5 games/2 controllers" line of nonsense but right now I'm trying to get my money back and improve my EBay rating so I have to put my personal feelings aside.

As long as you take actual pictures of the item + receipt, people will think its legit. New or Used, the wii will sell for what u bought for it.

Its not a big deal.

just dont shill bid with it like another person in the forum. You get account locked for 14 days. And thats bad. the next time you do it the consequences are more servere.

It looks pretty legit but if I were a buyer looking to purchase a wii on ebay I'd be iffy about your auction. Mainly because you have low feedback and you're selling quite an expensive item. To answer your question, yes i would bid on your item but probably not as high as I would in someone else's auction (i.e. w/a feedback score of 325 at 100%)

Not to discourage you but this is the pattern I've seen when buying/selling on ebay. Your item probably won't sell as high as others for 2 reasons,

1.) Although you said it is brand new you opened the box, you lose value in most cases once it's opened
2.) Your feedback score is very low

Oh yes and as a tip you might want to add more pictures of the Wii along with the receipt with the payment blacked out if you paid with Debit or Credit. Good luck!

I would straighten out the receipt and make sure it is legible.

You're not likely to get $10,000 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-Wii-Game-console-Sports-Edition_W0QQitemZ200177397760QQihZ010QQcategoryZ62 054QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) for it but even the low feedback ones are selling very well and Friday evening is a good endtime for an auction.

I would specify that payment must be from a verified PayPal account and you will ship only to a confirmed address. You need that to be covered by PayPals seller protection policy I believe. I don't worry about this myself for a run of the mill listing, but I would require it for something this pricey.

As far as preventing someone from stiffing you the best way to do that is to make it a fixed price listing and require immediate payment. However I don't think you can do that with only 1 FB.

The other thing I notice is you have a picture with the stuff outside of the outer box. I assume it's all sealed from Nintendo when bought new? Okay apparently a new Wii's outer box actually isn't sealed in any way? I'd probably note that it's factory sealed just like from a retail store and the components have never been removed from the box as it looks like two of us on this thread already had the same misconception.

Personally I wouldn't buy from a 1 FB seller. That said many buyers will, and frankly I doubt it will hurt your final value all that much. (But don't quote me. ;) )

Personally I hate the 5 games / 2 controllers scheme.

The second photo, with the Wii items out of the box will not help you. You should remove it. It looks opened and not new. I know when I bought my Wii it was sealed with a round sticker on both ends... but that could have changed.



I also would make insurance included. Insurance protects you, not the buyer since you are the one who has to file the claim. State this on your auction for a measure of added security. Insure it for it's full retail value.

5 games, 2 controllers is misleading as hell. Why don't you add Warioware and claim over 200 games?

If you truly are "trying to get my money back and improve my ebay rating" then post a reasonable buy it now (say $299) and drop the 5 games/2 controllers crap. The Wii will sell itself. Also, if you want to improve your ebay rating, sell a bunch of cheap crap.

You have only 1 feedback and are selling a brand new Wii (misleading at that). All this auction says to me is that you are aware of the wii shortage and happened to find one in stock and are looking to make a quick buck. I wouldn't give it a second look.

Not trying to flame, I know most, if not all, people selling the Wii are doing the same thing. Good luck.

Don't sweat it. You still have over 2 days left on your auction -which is plenty of time. Last minute bidders usually bid <12 hours before the ending time. You might get $250 since it's the holiday season.

if you selling it for 250 why not just sell it here on CAG,
many people are looking for wiis in the trading forum
plus ebay wont take out fees

I have had high price items get very few bids at the beginning, and I've also had some get quite a few at the beginning. I just recently sold my old PSP, and somebody bid $100 on it less than 10 minutes after I had listed it. But yes, most of the bids will come at the end. You should have no problems getting $250.

Since you started it nice and low it's no surprise you got some bids right away. Nothing suspicious there.

Not uncommon for things to be a good bit below the normal closing value until right before the end. But I see you're up over $250 already.

I thought I was being baited at first to put the starting price so low but looking at other auctions in my area I can see the same people I see on CL. Their auctions are starting at $500 and have no bids and some are less than a half hour away from ending.

I think for something that you know is going to sell for a lot, it's better to start the price lower. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there willing to pay $500 for a Wii, and they may even enter $500 as their maximum bid. However, if they can get it for less, they're more than likely going to try by bidding on an auction that starts out lower.

I put that the payment was due by 1AM tonight. The thing is, I didn't notice but he has two unpaid strikes against him, just not in the last 30 days. He also shows as having bid on another Wii auction really close to mine.
