I noticed Lair at Costco for $40.00. (or $39.97)

I don't think Costco prices are YMMY, but if it is please close the thread.

Also keep in mind the fees one needs to pay if not a Costco member.

I keep hoping they'll introduce a patch to make the controls better. It'd be a great game if the controls didn't strangle every ounce of fun from it.

Which is better, Panzer Dragoon Orta on XBox or Lair?

The epicness of the battles made me like the game.

Controls could use some work though....maybe a patch will come out someday.

PDO without a doubt. People aren't exaggerating when they say that the controls absolutely ruin Lair.

It's worth a rental, as some people could deal with the controls. I could not, and I bought the game. I'll probably give it another shot when it's in the $20 price range...as I really want to like the game.

I thought the game was fine as well. People hate on the controls, but they expect the dragon to turn on a time and fly like a plane. It flies more like a dragon would if they were real.

The battles and all the things that you have to do to win each of the levels are pretty entertaining.

But the challenge in a game is supposed to come from the gameplay, not the mechanics behind it.

I mean, imagine someone invented tetris, except the graphics were so blurry that you couldn't tell where one block began and the other ended. I might have a kickass game on my hands, but no one would know unless they squinted really hard.

ill wait for this to drop to $19.99. Hopefully that will be soon since the sales for this game prob wasn't too good.

controls should have had an option, but its not as hard as people make it out to be

dont fucking twitch the controller like an idiot

took me about a half-hour of playing (with a break in-between) to figure that out, once i held the controller in place and thought about what i was doing instead of yanking it like a madman, the game controlled 200 times better, sure it still had issues (the 180/dash mechanic works correctly probably only 3/5 of the time) and sometimes it got a tad frustrating but its not horrible

the game's a 7, with more development time for polish, a secondary control scheme (analog sticks though add in a difficulty settings since that would make it probably to easy, cant remember if the game had one, dont think so) and a little break in between action (you are constantly yanked in every direction in almost every single level without two seconds to yourself) and this game could've been a 9

i might pick it up when it drops in price (would probably buy one for $15-20, I did enjoy it, the graphics are mostly great, the sound is some of the best ever, the OST is to me worthy of being included in top 5 OST's of the year, movie's included, missions were mostly interesting, story was okay, voice acting was good, world and art were immersing)

this game pisses me off not because of the controls, but because of mostly being rushed (even though it was delayed), it could've so easily been a 9

I'm sure it will $20 by the end of 08 and I'll buy it for $10 (maybe 5) the next year.

I had a copy that I got for $40 on MTV.com but after I saw the reviews, I dumped it on Amazon for $55.

It should be 1.99 Download content . Suppa Man is right to a point. When you get about two thirds thru the game it is totally broken and thats why this game is shit.

So how does it rate compared to Drakken: the Ancient's Gate for PS2? I actually enjoyed that game a lot (helped that there was pretty much nothing out for the PS2 at that time).

What exactly breaks the game 2/3 of the way through?

Please be specific

i dont think it breaks at any point through, i just think the game still lacks an overall polish because it was rushed out the door for cost reasons

im sure sony said the game was taking to long and another delay and more money spent wasn't justifiable to them

i still say a control option (with using analog sticks making the enemies and game harder because it'd probably be to easy), better pacing, and more polish overall the the game and it's an easy 8.5-9.5

as it is i give it's range a 7-7.5 if you can use your head and use the controls properly, if not and you just play it out of control without thinking the game will be a 4-5 for most

Oh, I own the game and love it, I'm just curious with people saying the gameplay is broken. I had small problems at the beginning with the controls, but by the end it was all second nature and I wasn't having any problems.
