View Full Version : Ebay Stupidity......overpriced crap you've seen?

After reading and LOLing my head off with the Craigslist thread, I figured I'd start one for Ebay absurdity.

I'll start this off, since I decided to make this thread. As we all know, the Nintendo Wii is quite the sought after electronic gizmo this year(again) and the one auction listed on Ebay right now is a tad high, I must say.

The seller is hoping you'll 'make it a very happy Christmas for his kid', so, won't you? This auction is ONLY a mere $12,500 for an opening bid.

Included in the auction is a NIB Wii and USED copies of Zelda Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Even funnier than that one is an auction with a BIN of $250,000 and an opening bid of $50,000. The seller of that one wants the extra money to start up an 'environmentally friendly business'.

I kinda dare some of my fellow CAGs to email either the first or second seller and ask what kinda drugs they're on. Seriously.

So, what kind of ridiculously priced items have YOU seen and had a chuckle over lately?

OK, so I was wrong, those two auctions listed above weren't THE worst, but they were close. While checking completed listings, I found several for $10,000 and $20,000 which SOLD. Mind you, I'm pretty sure that the winning bidder probably didn't pay, but who knows.

Plus, there were several 'mystery envelope' auctions, where the seller emails you an envelope and if it says you win the Wii, you get it shipped overnight. But, the thing about the description is, it doesn't say if you get royally shafted if the 'envelope' doesn't say you 'won' the Wii.

I thought those 'mystery' auctions were stopped by Ebay?

Both of those auctions failed to list having 5 free games (Wii Sports). No one will buy them now.....

EDIT: Its not over priced, but I felt the need to share this auction with everyone. http://cgi.ebay.com/HAUNTED-ITEMS-WITCH-SPELLS-MAGIC-PICS-PHOTOS-ME-JAT_W0QQitemZ290185384300QQihZ019QQcategoryZ102514 QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD9VQQcmdZViewItem

Random qoute from the auction: My first dragon was quite put out with the arrival of the second. Very clear sibling stuff going on, nose was very out of joint for a while. They've sorted it out now, and I take care to give them different but equal tasks and responsibilities, so it's all right. Very different personalities they have, too. The elder one is very boisterous and rambunctious, the younger is much more gentle and quiet, and seems to be considerably more serious.

True and at least one of the completed listings I saw had '52 games' listed(Wii Sports, one of the other packs with 20+ games), but the total of games even if counting up all of the mini games on those compilation packs was only 41. Yet, it still sold.

people are such idiots when it comes to this and it just makes me laugh at them at this point. especially the people coming into the tru i am working at and when i tell them we have the wii's in and to be there at *insert time* and they don't show up until 3 hours later, it is hilarious. i always hope they have to buy from the sellers like this just because they will not listen at all.
