First, I'm glad to see that Chapelle got the $$ he's deserved for the last decade. His standup should command good money by itself, even without the show.
Now on to the scary part of the article:
The deal also has implications beyond Comedy for Chappelle within the network's parent company, Viacom, sources said. Another component sets up Chappelle with a multimillion-dollar deal at Paramount Pictures to star in an adaptation of the autobiography of Rick James, the funk veteran whom Chappelle has lampooned on "Chappelle's Show."
It's bad enough that the dork down the street, or across the office, or [if you're particularly lucky] the guy in the next cube over, won't let this quote die, but now they're gonna make a whole movie of it? I think I'm going to have to invest in one of those retractable beatin' sticks (The ones that expand from a 4" cylinder to a beatin'-riffic 16-18") for office nerd cleansing when that movie comes out.

I think the movie is a serious one so it's doubtful that you will hear that line at all...

I am so sick of people saying that line. It wasn't even that funny!

People are still saying the line? I haven't heard it in a while.
And that thing about the movie is old news. I think if they do a movie, it will be funny for the first 5 minutes, boring for the next hour, and then funny again for the last 20 minutes.

I thought that line had sunk into the abyss of over-used comedic quotes.

Those retractable beating sticks are called Asps. Just in case you go to buy one. And don't buy the 21" version, they're too long to be usable.

Most people who say it don't even know who he is

Hopefully the movie info is either misinformed or a serious biopic. Because the original Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories is one of the funniest half hours of television ever created (my avatar might suggest that I'm biased). But extending the sketch beyond that half hour would be bad news.

There is too much that happened in Rick James life to say that there is not enough material for a 90 minute movie.
I still want to see Charlie dress up as Eddie and make fun of "Party all the Time"

well, it's less annoying to me than Austin Powers references, thank god those died down.

well, that always happens to good (or at least amusing) things; they're either repeated until dead or spoofed till retarded.

Honestly, Chapelle is so hot now, it would be a good career move for EDDIE to just go on and make fun of himself....

No, I agree. I just think there's need to be more than "Look, Rick James is crazy and Chappelle's going to spout some catchphrases". If they did it as a straight biopic with some Chappelle craziness thrown in, I think it could be great.
