How do you guys feel about the mountains of 50 at every single electronics store?

The better question should would be "Is there a reason why I would care about the mountains of PS3 consoles?"
Ps3 is hands-down the worst console on the market right now. It takes way too much money for the company to produce them and now their prices are dropping which hurts the company even more.
Let's say it together........."Sony made a bad move!" The only thing I think that Ps3 has going for it is that it's the cheapest Blueray player on the market that I've seen.

PS3 has lost in the US.
Europe is the best shot the PS3 has for catching up in worldwide total units sold. However, even if Sony catches up with the Wii and 360 for total hardware sold, they still have a very soft attach rate on software which is not enticing 3rd parties to overwhelmingly support their console.

Oh believe me, I'll most definately spend time with my Wii and 360 after being exposed to a shabby excuse of a console that Sony has put out. And to believe........I was a sony fanboy. Tsk Tsk

It's a bit early to be calling anything a loss. Especially since the PS3 has made a good comeback early in this holiday season.
And I seriously hope you don't actually want another gaming console to die for some silly corporate loyalty? Competition is usually what's best for the consumers, aka you and me, it drives innovation and new features, along with price cuts. Not to mention, with such fierce competition it also drives the development of new games on both consoles.

Competition is good, but no one is obligated to like the competition simply because they exist. They have to earn their keep like everyone else. Otherwise, you actually DO deserve to fail.

lets take a look back... on the first year the playstation2 was a worthless piece of garbage with nothin but poorly done games. Then soon after sky rocketed becomeing one of the best selling systems of all time for a while competeing with wii sales. i dont really care about Mt. Playstation at the stores but matters to me is that i purchased my ps3 and am tremendously proud of it. I own a wii which a barely play except for the virtual console and tried the 360 and dont like it at all in my opinion i wont take any stabs at it.

Somewhat revisionist history... the buzz and demand for the PS2 was much greater, I stood in line for 6 hours for one... I had people in my dorm offering me double the price for it... after about the 3 weeks initial PS3 release, they sat on shelves... my brother worked at a Target and no one cared they had the systems back in stock.
I'm not saying the system is bad, I haven't even played it, but the interest was there for the PS2, even if they had some shakey games at the start.

The big diff with PS2 is time. PS2 launched at or slightly before the XBox. I really think that the year of difference is the reason why things are they way they are.
The soft attach rate can be explained by the dearth of good games early on. The attach rate will settle somewhere around where it is for 360. The attach rate for 360 a year ago, was much lower than it is now.
One thing I noticed about the mountain of (40GB) PS3's in the store is that they sell for the same price as the 360's. Before that $100 price difference was fairly ominous.
Sunchaser, you may have been a sony fanboy, but have you actually owned a ps3? I have owned both, and must say that the ps3 is a much nicer media centre. Now that games are generally the same on both, I prefer to play it on ps3 usually due to it being quieter, controller batter life, 7.1 sound. I also prefer the streamlined XMB over the bubblegum dashboard. The PS3 does have a ways to go with online play. But lets try and be objective about things, otherwise we come across as a 12 yr old.
Ignoring the Wii, I have my doubts that the PS3 will ever catch the 360 in N/A, but I suspect it will win in Europe, and obviously a win Japan. It really only needs to stay close in N/A. I bought games and enjoyed my Xbox 180 right up until support was dropped for it (a little prematurely, I might add), and it only sold 24 mil worldwide, while the PS2 sold 120 mil, and still going. It didn't have near the game library as the PS2, but it still had lots of good games, and was a good experience in general. We north americans tend to put too much emphasis on the importance of north america.

First of all, I'd like to welcome you to the PS3 Forums of CAG... Welcome,
Normally, I'd try to defend Sony, but since you didn't make any valid points, there's really nothing for me to defend, and you have a high rating on insignificent meter so now I'm ignoring you.

The same way I feel about the mountains of xbox 360 thats usually sitting right next to them. MS, and Sony aren't playing around with stock. 360 is selling well too, if MS can put a mountain full of consoles in every store, why the hell can't Nintendo? Nintendo is doing a good job of keeping the illusion that Wii is a hot commodity. The main thing is that, Sony has a good product, that people (children) WANT... but they can't afford it yet. So people are waiting. Mind you this time next year... after the next price drop.. we'll be in Wii Territory - in terms of price.
The main thing is... as a Consumer of PS3 products, overall, Sony is doing a good job. At least we have some good games, and a system thats well designed, works well, with more features than any of the competing system.. out the box.

You people, will this madness ever end? LoL Sony's new shiny machine will pick up in sales in the next year don't be fooled and count the old dog out just yet. They looked to have finally set on prices and $399.99 for a blue ray player that plays games is a great deal.
So in the begining it was price obviously and also the lack of playstation only games because honestly who wanted to dump all that money on something new that I could play the same games on my 5th 360 since I got one at launch.
With the level prices for the console and future big title exclusive releases the PS3 with pick up and everyone knows it. When FFXIII finally gets a release date people will be buying the system just for that game alone...
All in all just buy whatever damn system you people want and feel you will get your best gameplaying time on... let's all stop with the mines better than yours arguments..
Reminds me of the " mom hes picking on me fights"

I was one of the people who waited in line about 10 hours just to get one of these things. I've had one and I wasn't very pleased with it. Maybe my standards were set to high for this console....I don't know.

they sure are, what with the selling 650,000 in 2 weeks, and 200%+ markups on ebay.

Well, you bought a launch system. Typically a system will see crap for the first year and it's second year is when you REALLY see a decent library come to a head. The 360 is in this term right now which is why it looks to have such an awesome library (which it does).
The PS2 was in this same slump during it's first year. There were a few good games to come out in 2001 but it wasn't until the one year aniversary that we started seeing the good games (GTA III anyone). After that, the flood gates started to open and 2002 / 2003 saw a plethora of awesome games; I personally think this is what will happen with the PS3. We're starting to see good games now (Drake, R&K, Heavenly Sword) and I have a feeling that next year will see even more.
Also, Sony just recently cut the price of their dev kit in half, a tactic that IMO is extremely smart so that it'll help development time. Now if they can get some decent middleware (which they will) we'll start seeing some awesome shit come our way. Give me a new, innovative Twisted Metal and I'll be happy as a lark.

Can somebody explain to me how the fuck Mana Knight gets banned, but this shit's cool?
oh I'm so glad you asked.. Mana got banned by a pussycat 360 fanboy, who rather than just accept that Mana has his own opinion [and should be free to express it], just ban him to shut him up. How long does it take to review pasts posts and make a determination that he didn't violate any rules. ..... [looking at Cheapy D]
Now I know how the Jedi felt in Episode 3 when they found out they were being run by an Dark Lord of the Sith. - Well in this situation CAG is being run by 360 fanboys - we know Cheapy [not a fanboy of 360], at least favors it, and so do the moderators. [Start a thread like this in 360 or Nintendo forums and see how fast it gets closed]
and on that note...
Unban Mana Knight and
Elect Thomaticus (Thomas96) as a MODERATOR, and I'll make sure, this shit don't happen. [at least I come to the ps3 forums... how often do moderators come and talk in the ps3 forums or even participate with us online.. none that i've seen]
