Lots of good new stuff. Superman, Mel Gibson, etc.

And lets keep the fanboy discussion to a minimum.

That rocks. I'm in for The Fountain and Purple Rain.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a really good time, too. If you're looking for an action/comedy in the vein of the original Lethal Weapon (in fact, from the writer of the original LW) you should check this out.

I should receive one of each price for free but it defaults to the 2 $19.95.

Its always going to give you the cheaper ones for free. You have to split them up to get the larger discount.

I did it on my own last year when Amazon had a deal as part of their Christmas promotion. It was $120 for a year of Amazon Prime and a $100 toys and games GC which worked on videogames. Basically a year of Prime for $20 was too good a deal to pass up.

I liked it so much I'm thinking of just sucking it up and paying the full $79 for another year. Why couldn't you have had some deal THIS year Amazon????

First time Blu Ray Buyer (have Prestige for free, but besides that, nothing). Really like HD-DVD more, but now that my bro has a BD player (PS3), I can jump in on the deals everyone always gets with this format.
Had a $20 credit, and wanted PS3-Oblivion (as a present for aformentioned brother), and then needed $5 more for free shipping. Why not spend $20 and get movies? *sigh* Way to go Amazon, you always make me spend money!

Wanted Departed, but no other $24.99 BD, so I settled on Corpse Bride and Dog Day Afternoon. I suppose $6 per item is pretty decent, considering it's a PS3 game and two BD's. My g/f is gonna kill me.

You don't need to add the Coby headphones. They still give you free shipping even though your order is only $19.99! I'm guessing they determine you are eligible for free shipping before they apply the BOGO.

Yes, they do, but I don't know if they are individually sealed inside the box they come in.

That's a helluva deal, and the title should be edited to reflect 8 BR movies for $57. Christ I wish I didn't have some of them already.

EDIT: If you have the 10% off promo (if you bought 2 BR movies in 2006, you got 10% of all BR orders throughout 2007), it takes it off *before* the other discounts. I ordered A Christmas Story (I know, I know), Blood Diamond, Enter the Dragon, and Rio Bravo for $33.84 shipped. Huzzah!

I love the classics, that's why they're classics! Haha

Of course, I can only justify buying them if there is a huge difference in PQ and AQ compared to previous releases AND if I haven't watched it to death.

Man, their previous B1G1, then DD's 20% and B1G1's, NOW this one, I'm gonna end up in a world of hurt -_-

How old are you? :-s

21. Never been a fan of older movies.. I didnt even enjoy robocop.. the second one was wayyy better.. then it went downhill.

Species was a great flick, mainly cuz the chick was nude the entire movie.

I have to say the movies they have listed do not seem worth it to me. I have them on DVD and do not see the point in geting it on HD at this time due to price or they are not something I would watch. Oh well I really don't need more on the credit card. Also I do not see the point in geting a Bluray or HD DVD unless the movie has been made in the past 3-5 years. Some of what you all are calling classics were not shot in HD so why get it on HD. Some times the quality is wors then on the normal dvd(Halloween for example). However this is all comeing from a guy that bought Animal House on HD for about 10 bucks more then the normal DVD.

They were shot on film, which is what, hundreds of times the resolution of HD?
Film is far superior.

The movie, old or not, will look as good as the job the studio does with it.
Some classics look a hell of a lot better than recent movies with crappy transfers.

lol...obviously not every old movie or even newer movie is not perfect in HD but the ones that they took the time to remaster look amazing...go take a look at The Searchers...i was blown away when i first put that in...and for $10 a movie with this deal, it is well worth it especially if you dont have the dvd versions

Edit: I agree with what dallow said as well

Higher price always prevails so the 2 cheaper movies will be the freebies. You'll have to submit 2 seperate orders.

I'm not sure, but I THINK I read somebody say they got free shipping on just 2 - that the free shipping was apparently "activated" before the 2nd BRD was given free.

But if you are looking for something to get up over free shipping, what I've been buying lately, actually, is FOOD. Just buy a box of cookies or something. :D

I just bought my first Bluray dvd today. It was 20 bucks and I thought I might as well get it and not the normal dvd. Ended up geting Doctor Strange and now I have a use for my PS3. Picked up the reaping on HD DVD for 25 or 30 cant remember. Sucks this stuff is so high. Thought about geting Serenity on HD or Bluray but they have the collector's edition out on dvd now. I'm one for extras and would rather get more of them and the movie only in 480p then pay 10 bucks more for the movie and get less but a better picture. So unless the HD/bluray has all the same stuff as the 2 or 3 disc sets I'm going after the normal dvd. Although I will pay more for better picture and if it comes with all the same extras. So does anyone know of a site that says what extras are on the HD/Bluray and normal DVD. That way I don't have to look them up for each one and I can see what is a better buy on one page. I know the HD/Bluray should have all the same extras but some stuff tends to be on more then one disc. Anyway I'm done with my rambling.

How have you been on this site so long and missed all these Hi-Def deals?

I have bought around 30 BR's in the past month and have not paid anywhere near the MSRP for one of them. They actually turn out cheaper or on par with their DVD counterparts!

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=858316Very helpful! TYVM.

I'm thinking about picking up the 2 sets when I get paid tomorrow... I don't want some of the films, so hopefully I can ebay them for $10 or so each making it even better for the films I keep.

I'm sort of glad 300 on BD hit after I ordered initially - the HD-DVD version has an exclusive "Bluescreen Picture-in-Picture Version" of the movie (and a few other things which sound lame). Not sure if it's worth waiting on, but it at least makes me feel a bit better so I don't have to buy it and Departed... I want them but the cost is too much for me right now.

Looking over the "best of Blu Ray" titles... it sucks to read the reviews on these and feel these aren't really the Best of Blu Ray but rather a collection of "some of the first movies on Blu Ray", which is not the same thing. I like most of the movies in pack 2, but pack 1 I've either not seen the movie or don't want it. I think I'll have to sell Swordfish and Phantom of the Opera; ebay prices seem to be averaging about $10 a disc, which is exactly what I'd want for them. Hopefully this is the bottom already fallen out on these from the Amazon sale and it doesn't get much lower, but if I sell those two the reast everage $4.62 a piece, which is great even for DVD standards. I guess I'll be seeing tomorrow when I get paid...
