Hey guys, we got a new list of games this week for Clearance. I won't be able to post the entire list until Friday(next time I work) but there were some gems in there. If someone has posted this or has the full list, do what you need to with this thread(long time reader, first time posting a thread like this)

It's been a while since I saw the list as big as it is. Again, I'll try to post the rest up Friday night when I head in to work. I'm still waiting for Odin Sphere to go down, though. I may have to pick it up as it is before it just dissappears altogether.

Also, the regular markdown list..all I can remmeber is Beowolf for 360 already went down to $20 and I think that new Cars something Mater game went down too...

I've played through Okami thoroughly, and recommend it with all my heart and soul. However, holding out for the Wii version is not a bad move.

As for Bullet Witch - it's really not worth $17, have you read any of its reviews? Get it when it hits the $5 bin where it belongs; that is, if you really want it.

I got Bullet Witch when it first came out. $16 is ALMOST worth it...if you don't mind bearing with its problems. Graphics are "eh", environments are huge and open with almost nothing going on most of the time...A.i. is bad, the other weapons you have are just about useless.. but the spells are awesome and it has a decent physics engine and it IS a somewhat fun mindless shooter. There were glitches...the last boss took FOREVER to beat(he had a lot of health..).


It's a strictly average game that could've been awesome if it had a lot more development time.

Yeah, I remember the outfits. I never got any of them but I remember people getting ridiculously upset over not having them right away.


And if it came down to EDF or BulletWitch....EDF hands down. I bought EDF the day it came out and I absolutely love it..and Okami will be at the top of the list :). I only remembered it that way because the list was alphabetical.

btw, parappa for psp is so-so. not as good as the ps1 version. heck if youre psp is hack then i'd play the ps1 version instead. but it does have a versus mode which i never really tried since i played the JP version of the game.

EDF is orders of magnitude better than Bullet Witch could ever hope to be. I rented Bullet Witch through GameFly for one day and I still felt ripped off. :(

I'm holding off on Okami for the enhanced Wii port but it's a must-buy at that price, along with Tomb Raider Legend 360 and Trauma Center for no one that has it yet!

FYI ,Carmel mtn and clairmont store in San diego r sold out of okami. I got the last copy @ clairmont mesa. At both stores, I ask the employees @ each store if they have anymore. They responded "no". All the other games were in the store and the clearance price were correct. Happy shopping

But what about control? There have been a ton of rumblings with this game, centered almost entirely around the different control schemes included and whether or not Metal Slug Anthology can work with the GameCube and classic controllers. Here's the verdict: Control could be better, but you'll most likely find one that works fine for you. In our opinion, throw away five of the control schemes right off the bat. There's no reason to use two controllers on this one (nunchuck to move and Wii-mote to attack/jump, motion control for throwing grenades), and there's certainly no reason to use the "nunchuk only" control scheme that makes the game one-handed and odd. What it comes down to for us is either the Wii-mote on its side (like the NES days), using the d-pad to move, the buttons to jump/shoot, and flicking the controller to throw grenades, or just caving in the use the GameCube controller.

It's a bit frustrating to see so many control schemes and not more than two of them that really make sense though. None of the control setups (aside from GameCube and an odd motion = moving one… blegh) allow for grenades to be mapped to a button press, and for some reason the GameCube controller also doesn't let you use the d-pad and not the analog stick. That means that with all the crazy "use your Wii controller upright as a virtual arcade stick" crap that was put in the game there isn't a single mode that lets you use a d-pad along with all button presses for the game's actions. Granted if you don't mind using the analog stick you're fine with the GameCube setup, and if you're anything like us you'll just end up tracking down a few arcade sticks to do things right anyhoo, but the control choices really are odd. *Please note: If you're going to go about the arcade stick method, you'll need to find sticks that take input from the analog signal rather than the d-pad.

As another final note on control, there's no support for the Wii Classic Controller at all. While we don't have a solid answer for you as to why this is the case, there have been more than a few rumblings about the reason, but mostly the consensus was that there was a discrepancy between SNK and Nintendo on whether or not the classic controller should be available to developers for full retail games just yet. Regardless of why classic control can't be used, we'll just state the facts; it can't be. It's a shame, it's moronic, but that's the way it is.

I didn't like Icon at all. The fighting engine was too simple and boring and seemed a tad unresponsive. It's nothing like Vendetta for Fight for NY. The only upshot was that you could import your tunes on 360 and have the environment jump to the beat.

Metal Slug Anthology is a GREAT BUY at that price. You get 7 games! They are all pretty similar but if you like insane button mashing side shooters, this is a great collection.

I think I'm going to wait for Wii Okami. But I would like to check out Elebits and Trauma Center.

Every time I use the Gamer's card it is an adventure to check out. I hear that. I'm pretty sure the system only accepts the card when you're buying a new game at full price, but seeing as how I'm not posting on "Rich Ass Gamer", you can probably guess how often I do that. I usually just tell the tool at the register that the card never works, and they just swipe that magic card that lets them do anything and manually take 10% off.

I've been waiting for "Lunar Knights" to drop. Definitely going to have to go get that ASAP.

Nothing I've seen so far. The only thing similar coming up is 25% certain(maybe all?) "Cool Deals" games. Those are basically anything $14.99 or less. Not necessarily things like "$4.96"; those are difference because they are discontinued stock. Games like Half Life 2 on XBox or Guilty Gear Judgement are eligle for that 25% off promo.

God Hand has humor going for it and that's about it.

The combat system is garbage unless you are fighting ONLY 1 enemy and that hardly ever happens, the camera is garbage, the guy you play as controls like a tank. I really wanted to like it but couldn't.

The Wii version should be better because it is going to run on superior hardware. The company (or Capcom themselves, I forget) stated it would be a straight port. More than likely, it will load faster and look sharper than its PS2 counterpart ... at least in theory.

Wow, CAG is making me go broke. I ran out and picked up Okami and Full Auto 2 tonight. I actually really enjoyed the demo of Full Auto 2, but I wasn't going to pay $60 for it. Now at $16, it's a steal. I'm also hoping I enjoy Okami. That one is a bit of a shot in the dark, but the reviews sold me on it.

I went up to the guy at Circuit City and asked him to scan the games to see what price they were and he looked at me, then the prices listed on the front ($60 and $40 respectively) and then looked back at me like I was retarded. I told him that I heard that these games were going on sale tomorrow but weren't marked yet. He then gave me another look like he didn't believe me, but that he'd humor me and scan them in.

He scanned them in and they came up on sale for $16 each, and the smugness was whiped right off of his face. I just smiled and said, thanks, ring them up.

This may be a silly question covered in a previous CC price drop thread, but if the title is still on the shelves and hasn't been marked for clearance will it ring up as the clearance price or for the stickered price in that store? I mean, you know, if I try and buy something that's marked 29.99 but it's "the list" on page one, which price will I get?

I went to 2 CC's Thurs night. One had no indication that the games were on clearance and they were in the regular stacks (so, to answer your question PacManess, YES they will ring up on clearance). The second had them marked $16.96 and in a bin with the older clearance stuff. Neither had Okami, but I noticed a plastic divider in the PS2 section labeled with Okami so I'm assuming they had a few but either tagged them and put them out and promptly sold them or some other CAG or more nefarious type swooped them all up from the regular stacks. This was at the Clackamas, OR store so if anyone here did so fess up ;).

Both stores had pretty much everything else. I found the only copy of Kororinpa at either store, though, and that was my big target so I did OK.

I'm actually pissed that Okami went on clearance (though it's availability seems limited) because just a few days ago I listed mine on ebay since I never got around to opening my PS2 (preordered) copy and figured I would rather play the recently announced Wii version instead. I was hoping to get the cash back ($40 after fees) to pay for said Wii version. That may not happen now... If only this clearance could have been AFTER Christmas :lol:.

Wow, that sucks. A couple of months ago when I was looking for new copies Okami on eBay, there were usually only ~5 copies listed and they all ended up ~$40-45 with shipping. And it was like this for a few months. I lucked out and was quick to the draw on a buy it now of $20 and change and scored one. Now, I see there are a lot more listed and one of them even has CC label on it.

IMO, it's probably more about people finding out about the Wii version and deciding to hold out on that than people finding a whole bunch of them at CC because a lot of the CCs I went to didn't have copies and the one or two that did only had one.

Mine's still sealed and I'm also holding out to see how the Wii version is and then might sell mine if it's that much better.

Just got Metal Gear Solid 3 for $7.99 at a CC in Northern California.

Heh...I read just the opening post and a few other posts before I left this morning and decided to go to circuit city.

I ended up seeing a printout on colored paper of the TC's original post in the clearance bin. Big thanks whoever left that at the Baton Rouge circuit city. None of the prices were marked.

I picked up Okami, Elite Beat Agents, Trauma Center, Metal Slug, and Elebits.

I'll close this one so we don't have 2 floating near the top of the Deals page. Big thanks to Donnums, though, for getting it started. I think that helped a lot of CAGs get in on Okami and the others before they disappeared (while Neo got his act together ;)).
