I believe I had to have the latest version of windows media player installed in order to do this.

Thanks for that link... I need to connect the Ps3 do the computer directly??... it won't just go through the router?... I think the PS3 is pretty nice, I'm surprised the computer sharing is harder to figure out than the 360's though.

I was able to get it going right over the router...had to allow my WMP to share the media, but it only took a second.

This dude (http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3media&thread.id=69815) found a very long, drawn-out solution...it may help.

You don't need to connect it directly. I stream wireless over my router. Linksys WRT54G.

thanks for the help guys... got it connected... the only problem is that it says 2/6 of my video files are "corrupted" but they play fine on the computer, and it says my windows media files are unsupported? I dunno, I will work on that, but thanks again!

Simply means the PS3 Can't play that file type. That hopefully should change with the Divx support, but for now, the PS3 is kind of limited on what types of files it can play.

Thoroughly off topic, but where in CT are you, Destro? I grew up in Enfield and lived in Plainville up until a few years ago.

Use tversity media server. It is fantastic. It can play pretty much every codec. and translates on the fly, which allows the PS3 to play divx, flv, etc. You can even use with the PSP. It can subscribe to podcasts too. I alwasy watch the 1up show on my ps3/tv now. It also serves up all the photos, and music on your system. I don't my my XBMC at all since I got tversity running... oh yeah, and it is free!

I'm going to try tversity Snowsquirrel, because I can't get this to work by going through my own computer, and wmp 11.

one question - do you have any concerns about tversity leaving your computer vulnerable for exploits/viruses/ etc?

Any of this kind of stuff available for macs? No PS3 yet here, just thinking of the future.
