if you live in europe, have a wii and tons of stars for nintendo site, you may be in luck. although the site is down for the moment, and I have not tried it personally, you can now trade stars for wii points!

but- this is europe only. After the european delay for brawl (until summer) nintendo finally give us something good!

the ratio is 4:1, so if you have 400 stars, you get 100 wii points. this is slightly dissapointing, but anybody with thousands of stars can finally cash in.

hands-on impressions soon, when the site is ACTUALLY accesible. get your wii points here! (http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/2007/swap_your_stars_for_wii_points_6535.html)

*update* hands on impressions, from yours truly!

OK, nintendo europe has completely redone the site. the interface is nice, but its a pain loading pages, most likely because of the traffic. Regestering games is annoying as hell, as you HAVE to fill out a survey, and you only get 200 stars instead of 250. Before accesing the wii points shop, you have to log in, and link your wii to the site (in the shop channel). trading is incredibly annoying, because at the moment, only 100 wii point cards can be purchased. So if you want 2000 wii points, you have to copy down 20 codes, and input them into your wii. well, at least I have 300 more wii points.... *sigh*

I have an account at Nintendo Europe and have quite a few points. Can I use them on my US Wii?

you might as well try. though, the site isnt working. I have it in another window, and when it does work, I will tell you EVERYTHING there is to know. I think nintendo will check the IP addresses to stop non-european users though- it would be stupid not to

What are these stars, and how do you get them?

The american system is different to the european one. several games come with little sheets with a code on it. if you vist nintendoVIP, you can input these codes, and win points. Every DS/GBA code I own has 250 stars when input, so 1 game= 50 points. not so amazing, and if you want to buy one NES game, you have to have 10 DS games that have codes. not all DS games come with codes, which is a pain. I think america has something similiar

That pisses me off, like, real bad. Come on Nintendo. Give us some shit like that. I can understand not giving the United States physical things like game, stylii, and plush dolls because the price could be high. But you can throw us a bone with Wii Points.

munch, I know its a pain not getting the points, but us europeans have been suffering for years. Brawl has been moved to a summer release.

Also, to prove my point, I was over in america, and I picked up kirby squeak squad, for 25$. Now, 3 months later, it was released in europe, with a 45 euro price tag. My freind let me play the game, but no differences werte made, except the packiging and title screen were replaced with ''kirby: mouse attack''

*edit* fuck, you have to be logged in and connect your wii by inputing your email and password, and I logged in all right, but I cant connect my wii.
'' connection cannot be made. check your email and password''
