Looking at this thread has me thinking about new storage options for my stuff. I have way too many DVDs and games, and my personal space is very disorganized right now.

I was looking at something like this:

... But, I think it's too bulky. After going through only roughly 50% of my stuff, I need at least 3 of these swivels to make a dent. I can't even fit all of my PS2 games on one swivel :-(

I'm not sure what to do. Any advice? Any other deals on larger media centers? How about on larger swivels?

I think I might order one of these to see how it is before making a plunge to another two or three. I can't find a cheaper or more effective option.

I picked up one of these spinner racks on Monday, last one at the Best Buy I checked, $59.99. I put it together last night and this morning, wasn't difficult at all to build and looks pretty nice, definitely a steal at $60!

Great Racks i have 3 of these things and plan on picking up a forth...bought my first one about 3 years ago and still doing great, everytime i need more space i only look for this storage unit....the swivel is great and it works well on carpet if you have hard wood floors make sure you get a piece of carpet underneath it or it won't spend if there is too much weight on it. i just found some left carpet at home depot on clearance and cut out the square to perfect match the bottom so you didn't even see the carpet..........****the other thing is if you only fit dvds in it you can do five rows (it took me a while to set the little pegs to maxmize space make , just take a dvd and use it as how far to mark off***make sure you start on the bottom or you have the fun looking empty shelve on bottom) so with five rows you can fit 18 dvd per a row nicely if you wanted to you can jam it to be 19....with 5x18 you get 90 per a side so get exactly 360 with a empty shelf on the top that can fit cds or horizontal stack of 10 dvds....there is many ways to do it but that was the best way i found to use all the space......

Highly recommend this if you need storage and its actually pretty light no way it weighs 82lbs.

I have one of these. I got it at BB for like 80 bucks over a year ago. The thing is great. I was able to manipulate my stuff so that I have some shelfs that fit DS cases and some that fit HD-dvd cases. If your smart you can fill the entire thing up with all sorts of medea.

btw, according to what best buy customer service told me about a game last year, they have to have at least 5 in stock before it will let you order it online because of inventory accuracy issues. so it's possible that a store has the item even if it doesn't show up on the website as being available in store.

I bought mine for pickup in Denton, TX and then I got the email saying that it was out of stock. I called customer service 3 times to get the item shipped to me (the first 2 reps told me the item could not be shipped to my house for some strange reason). Its a long story but the third rep told me that the item is so heavy that Magnolia has to come to drop it off. She said that the USPS will not deliver it because it is too heavy.

I am supposed to get this delivered on 3/24...

well I went to the Madison West side... they checked stock... said they have 1 available.... eep!

so the guy runs back... spends about 10 minutes... comes back empty... and I was like damn...

But... he checked.... was able to find one in Lacrosse that had 3!!!! and they put in a Customer Fulfillment order with the sale price, because their system wasn't showing the 15% off and sale... coming up 85... booooo... so he marked it down to the price of 59.99.....

Shipping to my house... Free!

I should have it by Friday.

Thing weighs a ton and it's huge.....

Just got 4 of these delivered on Friday. I am very happy with them....well designed and very sturdy. They do take up a good chunk of room, but they are also holding about 2000 discs/carts :) I had to pay the $60 shipping, but that was for all 4 combined, so I ended up paying slightly less than $80 apiece after ship + tax. If you shop around the net for similar items, you will find they are often twice as much (or more).

I think it was a valid question. Does it spin smoothly? Does it strain? Does it carry momentum or does it squeak to a halt? Of course, it's possible to guess all that just by looking at the price, and for $60 I couldn't complain much.

I had something smaller a few years back that looked similar and it squeaked when it spun and didn't spin smoothly.
That is my concern with this one.

If that's what you're worried about... then no, it doesn't do anything like that. The only thing that might bother you is that it doesn't spin very easily due to it's weight. But all I mean by that is that it has very little spinning momentum.

I have one loaded up to full capacity, it doesn't squeak and spins pretty smoothly, the only reason why I couldn't just use one arm and just let er rip is because it's own weight is slowing the spinning down. It may only be 60 bucks but it isn't a cheap piece of crap.

Yes, the shelves are quite adjustable. For instance, I have one that has has my PSP, Genesis carts, DS case, Neo Geo Pocket, and GBA machines all on one side. I have 4 and was able to put all of my non-current-gen games on 3 of them (with room to spare) and all of my DVDs on the 4th in the living room.

Regarding spinning, as has been said before, once you put a bunch of crap on it, it takes a little effort to spin it around, and it won't go too fast. It never feels cheap though.

I payed 85 for mine and I LOVE it holds my whole collection and my daughters movies in a 1.5 foot square of space. if it ends up filling up i'll get another one, nothing holds so much in such a small amount of square footage.

Here are some pics of mine. I also paid like 80 bucks for the thing well over a year ago. And I love it. People are very impressed when they see it. It's a great way to show off your collection.

I had mine at my parents house but I was able to move it to my new place with little trouble, just take out the stuff, shelves and get a buddy to help you move it.

No, it was the other statue that got released here, both are now rare as hell. Mine came from Suncoast believe it or not, when Escaflowne the movie came out if you ordered the limited edition online they threw it in for 10 bucks more. Last time I saw that statue for sale was Otakon 2007 , one seller had it for 160 and managed to sell it at that price.

My BB only had the floor model in stock, and said that it isn't yet discontinued and would be coming back in stock, so they can't quite sell the floor one yet. Hopefully I'll nab one in the next week or 2.

How accurate is the description of what it can fit for this one?
Mine claimed 700dvds, but I got much more from it...

Also is the wood really cheap and gets ugly?

No, it was the other statue that got released here, both are now rare as hell. Mine came from Suncoast believe it or not, when Escaflowne the movie came out if you ordered the limited edition online they threw it in for 10 bucks more. Last time I saw that statue for sale was Otakon 2007 , one seller had it for 160 and managed to sell it at that price.Woah! $160? That's crazy. Well, congrats for getting one for a good price. It looks pretty cool.

They should, it's listed in their website as "in store only". There are some branches that are OOS, so make sure to ask them to check other nearby stores for availability.

Damn... I called my local BB last night and they were out of this, as was every other Montgomery County, MD area store.

Anyone have any luck finding something close to this? The closest models I find elsewhere are close to $200. Yipes.

Did you try Annapolis? They were the only location for me that showed up last time around, I go there and they had no display model, were dragging from the back after I ordered online . Might still have one or two, when the store stock checker still worked they had some in stock until it got taken down.

Thanks for the tip. I just called the Germantown store and was told that none of the local stores had it in stock when the girl checked inventory. Not sure if Annapolis was included in her check, so I'll give them a call specifically.

Also of note for anyone interested in these, the girl said that it looks like it's a discontinued item. So if ya want em, go get em soon. That is, unless you're in the MD area. Then HANDS OFF :bomb:

Don't know if this has been brought up, but if anyone is still looking for this, if you talk to pretty much any employee in the store that knows what they are doing, they can order it from a store that has it in stock. It may take a week or two to get, but its a guarenteed way to get it.

Huh... that may be something I have to look into. Does it have to be a local store or are they able to check nationwide?

I'm at the Fargo store and I think the next closest store that had it was down in the Minneapolis area which is 230 miles away. There might be some sort of limit on distance, but not positive.
