I used the OP's link and it offered free 3-5 day shipping, plus it has a cheaper price than your link. sure, watever, but it's there for people who are willing to pay 40cents for faster shipping. Anyway, i actually did post the deal first.
And i don't get what's up with dell. 15% on home and home office is $2.55, but 15% on small medium business is $3.40? That doesn't add up. They both have the same starting price.
Edit: basically it turns out to this:

I was going to get two, but the IGN review wasn't enough to convince me to plunk down the dough for two of these "Thrustmasters". If I like it, I have a nice replacement for my Wavebird for GC games and certain Wii games, and if I don't, it should still be a nice P2-4 option, especially when Brawl and Mario Kart come out. =]

Thanks, but I don't get the point of this product... the CC seems like a nicer fit for classic games, and why would you want one of these if you have a WaveBird? Its like a dual-shock.
Cry Havoc
12-10-2007, 02:55 AM
It isn't plugged into the wiimote, rumble, programmable buttons, doubles as a gamecube controller if you don't have a wavebird, the turbo function (I don't know what that does exactly), maybe you like the shape better, etc.
I got it because I only have 2 wavebirds and I would love to have 4 wireless controllers for SSBB.

Most people have a hard time finding Wavebirds and at this price the controller seems to be a great deal. Plus as mikej012 points out it has rumble and does not plug into a wiimote unlike the classic controller. I bought two simply because I wanted a wireless controller for my gamecube games and brawl when it is released. On the otherhand the big downfall for this (or plus if you look at it differently) is that it is a gamecube controller alternative. So games like Geo. Wars: Galaxies which don't support gamecube controllers are not compatible with this item. Man I wish all companies made gamecube, wiimote, and classic controller standard. Seems like there are a lot of controller options for the Wii. So much for a simplified layout. Scratch my earlier statement. I wish Nintendo would have added more buttons to the wiimote and an analogue stick instead of a d-pad. Imagine the possibilites for fps especially with dual wiimote pointing and free movement on the sticks for looking and movement.
Man I derailed for a second there.
Edit: Damn I took to long to type and Furashu beat me to the punch.

Maybe its me then, I've never had problems finding WaveBirds...they're a little scarce, but I generally run into a couple every month or so.
Let me clarify a little -- is there any difference between this and a third party wireless GC controller aside from a slightly different button layout?

There is rumble in this controller.
I might want to consider purchasing this prior to Brawl.
I'm curious how long the price will stay that much though.

The IGN review was kinda scant -- the thing I am most interested in is how the controls, well, control. They spent the least amount of time on that. First party controllers and Logitech set a high standard, and I hope this controller isn't second rate.
It remains to be seen how useful it will be, and what it will work for and what it won't. Here's hopin'.

It just doesnt appear that CAG are hoarder. But actually more than a few people are talking about reselling Wii, and if you looking at the auction section several people are selling multiple copies of Okami.

Apparently, this guy from Europe left a review on IGN:
"Bought one after reading the review, have to say its an awesome controller, the battery (1*aaa) last +/- 20 game hours, and the mapping option on it is awesome.
3)Wireless and responding real time no doubt, good stuff.
the bad things,...
1)its really small for my big hands, easy to press 3 buttons at once by mistake (yes i got a flat nintende thumb lol)
2)the rubber/plastick on the stick is allready fading away (after 20 hours of gaming) And the A B X Y are fading away completely :o, bad inkt ?? doh..
3)left stick wont hold it for a year in my hands -.-
theres allready less force on the left stick after 20 hours of gaming. "
Less force, and ink alreading fading away? I thought the key letters were traditinally molded into the key itself
But! for 20 euros, its a very nice controller, but it really does not deserve the 9, rather an 7.5 - 8"

I got mine, and so far I've just used it for Sin and Punishment.
Controller feels nice and works well. It's much more intuitive for S&P than the Gamecube controller (without messing around with changing the buttons).
I would give it a total thumbs up, but it cut out on me twice. I'm not sure why, as I was pretty close to the Wii and it had fresh batteries. I need to spend more time with it before making a real judgment.

OOS @ Dell :-( I guess they sold out.
There is one review on Amazon for this -- 5 stars, but they are not in stock:
[Note: I linked to the listing without the review, so here is there correct one -- sorry]

I got one this week from Amazon. I used Wiialerts.com and they sent me a text message when it came in stock. I ordered it and it arrived a few days later. It was $21.99 though, not the $13.59 they had at Dell.
Here are my thoughts on it:
Overall I really like it. I like the design and colors. It's responsive. I used it with Odama, which I just got, and there might be a bit of a lag, I'm not sure, cause it might be how the game plays.
It is small. My hands are about average size. The Xbox Controller S is the perfect size for me. This is a bit smaller than the Xbox Controller S. If it was any smaller it would be too small for me.
The dongle doesn't bother me, but it does turn on when it's plugged in even when the Wii is turned off (the dongle is turned on, not the controller). So I will be unplugging it when not using it.
I might get a second one if I get some coop GameCube games.

Just got my controllers from Dell today. I haven't had time to hook one up and play it yet, but I took one out of the blister pack and it has a good feel to it. It's smaller than I'd prefer, but not too small. Even though it has its advantages (rumble, turbo, etc.), I doubt I'll like it as much as my beloved Wavebird. But since Wavebirds have gone the way of the dodo, this seems like a solid, cheaper alternative.

I got a notice about two times that they will be forced to cancel my order if I do not respond and accept the new delay shipping date (they delayed two times at least). they said something about regulations from the FTC, so they can't hold the order unless I accept the delay ship date. IF you DID NOT email them back (don't hit reply, they give you an email customer service address), or call them back, then your order was canceled. I can see quite a few people didn't read their emails or listened (only heard) their answering machine about the delay on their order.

That's just it though. I did respond to their email and everything; followed the instructions and everything. Guess something screwy happened :(

yes..
If you are sarcastic, do not open this:
IT plays gamecube games, everything's seems fine(i want one myself) except that the D pad and the analog stick is flipped around. Everyone seems to have a problem with the dongle, the color, and the batteries. Don't most dongles get power from the GC port? Why would this one need seperate batteries? :bomb:

? I might be misunderstanding you, but the dongle does not need batteries. The battery problem is that the controller itself takes 3 AAA batteries instead of 2 AA batteries.

I got mine today and it does NOT work with my gamecube :gc: works fine with the gamecube games on the wii but not the cube itself. Which really makes no sence since it has no Wii Specific buttons.

I have no idea it plugs in to the cube just fine but never syncs up but once you plug it into the wii it works right away. Its still worth what I paid for it but kinda disappointing. If someone else would confirm my findings it would be nice.

Wait. Doesn't it clearly say 'For Wii?' I understand the disappointment. However I don't see anywhere on the packaging that actually states that it works on any system besides the Wii.
This does make me curious about the difference between the Wii 'Gamecube controller' ports and those on an actual Gamecube. Does the Wii supply more power to the ports? Did Nintendo set up the ports drivers in some odd way?

Just in case anyone wants to get a Thrustmaster without waiting for who-knows-when a retailer's gonna ship'em out, they are now selling the controllers at Circuit City.
Went by 2 Circuit City's in NY (86th & Lexington and 80th and Broadway) and it's in stock.
They are going for the price of $19.99

I picked up 2 @ 19.99 each at CC yesterday. They work fine with the Wii it is dissapointing about GC compatibility but I only have the Wii out anymore so I'm OK. They take 3 AAA's which seems like a lot but whatever I got rechargables.
CC also had a 3rd party wireless GC specific controller for 19.99 as well if you are interested.

Glad to hear CC has them, I've been looking at this for a long time for Smash Bros.

Has anybody else tried to use the Thrustmaster with Paper Mario?
The LZ/RZ buttons aren't instantly responsive when I'm switching characters. sometimes I have to press one, then the other, or both at once to get it to work.
Is this normal, or is my Thrustmaster just screwed up?

It's simple. The Virtual Console maps the N64's Z button to the Gamecube controller's L button, not its Z button. So, ZL/ZR shouldn't work at all for switching characters in Paper Mario. It's the L button that you want to hit. In fact, it's kind of unusual that you got it to work at all. You must have accidentally pressed L.
Of course, if you prefer to use the Z buttons for some reason, you can use the controller's mapping feature to swap L with ZL/ZR.
Also, I just wanted to add that my Thrustmaster works fine on my Gamecube. My Gamecube is one of the early ones with the digital A/V output, if that can possibly make a difference. Maybe they somehow altered the circuitry for the controller ports in the later Gamecubes?

How would I use the mapping feature? the Z buttons are more comfortable for me to reach.

Could be. My GameCube is a launchie, but I haven't used it in well over a year, so I don't know if my thrustmaster would work with it.

Press the MAP button, then press the two buttons that you want to swap. So, you should press MAP, L, and then either ZL or ZR. After that, ZL and ZR will both act as L and L will act as Z.
Also, if you turn the controller off using the power switch, your custom mappings will be lost. However, they will be saved if you let the controller turn itself off by going into standby mode after five minutes of inactivity.
edit: Actually, after further analysis, this pad is shit.

I just bought one of these to use with Smash Bros. I'm happy with the pad, but the rumble is not working.
Can anyone else chime in with their results using this with Smash Bros? Does your rumble work with the game or is the rumble not compatible with Smash Bros?
Thanks!

So the Thrustmaster is working with some Gamecubes and not with others? U mention yours is an early cube -- is it Indigo?
Any other confirmation on this from anyone?

No, it's black. And when I say early, I don't mean from launch or anything. I bought it around April or May of 2002, so it was about six months after launch. I was just pointing out that mine was early enough to have the digital A/V port, which was removed from Gamecube consoles starting around 2004, I believe.
Anyway, all I know is that when I tried the Thrustmaster on my Cube, it worked. I was just trying to come up with a possible reason why someone in this thread said that it didn't work with his.

See, this has me even more ticked off. I've been emailing customer support over the past week and they've given me nothing but the runaround. They won't even suggest I might have a bum controller. They even told me to try it on another game. They apparently don't know that only what, 3 Wii games, are Cube controller compatible.
So yes, I've made sure the physical switch is set to ON and the options are set to ON.
Besides the left stick being a little tight for my liking, which makes precise aiming difficult, I'm happy with the controller itself.

Considering buying this from Amazon. I haven't bought any VC games on my Wii, but I'm absolutely going to buy Wiiware. Anyone know if Wiiware games are always compatible with the Classic Controller and Wavebird simultaneously? Or do games ever support the Classic Controller and not the Wavebird?
Just trying to figure out if I would have everything I need to play any VC/Wiiware game in a Wavebird and a Wii remote, or if I really need a Classic Controller or this Thrust-pad? I'm thinking about buying this controller anyway, for rumble and a better all-around solution to VC and compatible Wii games.
