EDISON, N.J., December 10, 2007 – Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: COOL), an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, today announced a partnership with legendary multimedia musician and game designer, Masaya Matsuura, and famed New York artist Rodney Alan Greenblat, to develop and publish an original music-based video game scheduled for release in late 2008. Creators of the highly acclaimed, best-selling PaRappa the Rapper series, Matsuura and Greenblat will bring their engaging gameplay and distinctive art style to the Wii™ home video game system for the first time.

I imagine anyone who knows the joy of Parappa the Rappa or Umjammer Lammy will be tickled by this. I still dig out Umjammer occasionally to play, as it is an exquisite game.

I'm all over anything Rodney Greenblat does, so I'm anxiously awaiting to see how this turns out.

Sweet! I always assumed that that was a Sony owned product. This made my day.

Mii too, I thought Sony bought the studio that the creator worked for or something.

I'm really glad to see more and more third-party developers announcing quality software for the Wii. People kept complaining that the system's third party support would be weak, but there's no way the developers are going to shun the system now that the Wii's sold more units than the 360. There's far too much easy money to be made. But now it looks like there's going to be a good amount of grade A software in the Wii's lineup, instead of the pure shovelware the skeptics were predicting.

The title seems a bit optimistic about the game.

What's so wrong with that? Parappa and Umjammer were two of the PS1's best games. I'm really excited to hear more.

I don't see anything in the article about it being a spiritual succesor to PtR, just that it's from the same guy that made that series. What about being closer to Vib Ribbon or the iPod game he made?

I hope it's more Parappa and less Lammy. Lammy was... lame.
