i will probably pick up the NES version. I really should pick up this system, if only for the turbografx games like air zonk and bonk 3. hopefully they add dungeon explorer 2 and beyond shadogate. and there are probably loads of genny games that i missed out on

Also, for the 8 player, is that local or online? Could it be that they mean they are doing something Double-Dash-ish? Perhaps one person controls the Wiimote, the other the nunchuk on a single player? A shitty local 8-player? I know they did something similar to this on Mario Party 7.

It does require sending it to Nintendo, which is a bitch, but it is entirely possible.

Maybe - maybe - the heralding of new colors will jumpstart Nintendo on engineering a way for people to fix this in their own homes.

Was gonna say the same - they'll wait at least until next Fall for U.S. versions in different colors... Maybe the summer if demand takes a nosedive, but I wouldn't count on that. Though, really, I can't see that happening until 2009. And I would also think they'd start with the remotes and not the systems.

Hopefully the Mario Kart news means GS will offer Mario Kart preorders - I have some old dead preorders I never picked up that I need to switch to something! As for throwing wierd stuff in there, I'm all for it. Nintendo has not disappointed with the first-party stuff for the Wii (especially the titles designed just for the Wii and not old GC projects) so I have confidence it will work, or at least just be an entertaining diversion from the main kart racing game.

Edit: I, too, posted before seeing the report about it being fake. But the Kotaku article only mentions the colors rumor being fake - what about the Mario Kart info? I'm pretty skeptical that Mario Kart would actually come out in February given that SSBB is coming out then. I can't see them dropping those 2 bombshells in the same month (even if they are 3 weeks apart). I really can't see Mario Kart coming before the summer.

I'm inclined to say fake, based on the wiimote photo. It's an old mock up, as most of the text is different on them now and the power button is now round.

That being said, he may actually have the thing, and just put up an old pic he found online not realizing the difference.
