Okay, I'm going to give a serious answer, just so this thread at least has one serious answer before it either erupts into fanboyism.

See what games you like, and buy whichever console(s) that has the most games you like.

But also remember:

PS3 has Blu-Ray (if you like watching hi-def movies)

Xbox 360 has Xbox Live (if you like playing online)

PS3 has MGS4 coming.

Multi-platform games tend to look and play better on the 360, at least as of late.

Buy an Atari, and then get ET. Good to go.

If you had to buy one or the other now, then I would pick the 360. Next year, it might be different.

This topic has been covered many times. I would suggest doing a search on the entire forums for some PS3 vs 360 threads.

P.S. The answer is 360.

good answer...

only issue, PS3 has free online, which is pretty solid. Not as robust as Live, [because it doesn't have crossgame messaging, or friend of a friend] but you can get online and play games, and the the basics are solid. Warhawk, and resistance, have 32, and 40 players max matches. Right now most PS3 owners are playing Call of Duty 4, whose online services have been without any problems on psn.

Call of Duty 4 from my understanding looks better on the PS3. [according to one of the review sites] but when I watched the video on gametrailers, they both looked the same.

----------------------------------------------

the best thing is to go to both the 360 and PS3 forums and see what the pros and cons are of each system, and then make your decision. In the ps3 forum there's a compiled list of games that are coming out for the PS3 through

No way, dude. The TI99/4A is obviously the superior machine. It has a 3mhz CPU!

Ok, I'm actually going to post a logical, serious answer here, because I was in the same situation a few months ago.

What everyone else says is right: There is no "best" console. The console for you depends on personal preference and what games you enjoy playing the most. Look at the games already available, look at the exclusives for each console, and look at future releases. Then decide what you want and buy it.

I chose PS3. I'm buying one after Christmas.

I'll say the same thing I say to all joke accounts: Buy a Wii. You'll be real happy.

SL4IN

simple.

if you can't name 10 games you will play on it (and ones you will really play and want) then you don't need it.

Another thing to consider is the music games.
360 has the most compatible guitar controllers. The red octane/guitar hero guitars work with rock band and guitar hero II and III on the 360, they'll also work with pc and mac versions of guitar hero iii.

from what i've read theres no perfect way to play the ps2 versions of guitar hero i and ii on the ps3, no guitar controller works with both guitar hero iii and rock band, and since somehow activision convinced sony not to allow the rock band patch that would let you use a guitar hero guitar with rockband that doesn't look like it will change. Also, I remember reading that you can only play online matches against random people on the ps3 version of guitar hero iii (not sure if that is true).

If you want pure singing games ps3 has the clear advantage with singstar and presumably the old ps2 singing games will work with the usb mic and no similar offerings on the 360.

Just a couple more things to consider.

Neither is "best." Which one is best FOR YOU is simply the one that has the most games that look like must buys to you (both out, and coming out in the future).

Only you can decide that, so such threads are pointless. Just check out the game libraries, and release lists, for each and buy which every has more that appeals to you.

If you can only afford one console you should buy a pair of blue pants because everyone should own some blue pants and a waffle maker because waffles are delicious as hell.
