At my local CVS (Berkley, MI), I found several Mortal Kombat plug and play units in the holiday toys section (!) marked for $9.99.
An OK gift for the kiddies at that price.

It's the arcade version of MK1. It's single player only, but matches the original MK1 arcade exactly.

it's not YMMV. I work at CVS and when facing the isles during closing I saw this. It has 2 player support (need 2 PnP MK1 things though). I can get it for 20% off as well, with employee discount, but it's still not worth it.

It's not quite arcade quality. Think SNES with gore and fatalities.
