I'm extremely hyped, cell phone only or not. But what's with this trend of amazing sequel ideas coming only on cell phones? First Parasite Eve 3, now this.. if this ever gets localized, i'll be the first to get it - FFIV is my favorite.
Why? Because cell phone gaming is huge in Japan. Their phones are also a LOT more advanced than anything we have here, in terms of graphics and whatnot.
The Japanese eat this up, so it, sadly, makes sense, considering that dev costs are cheaper, and no system, aside from the DS, is really setting Japan on fire.

I'm not a FFIV fan at all, but to those of you who are: I certainly hope they treat that game's world with greater dignity than they did the FFVII one with all its sequels, prequels, and whatnot.

Plus WTF is this Cecil's descendant BS? I always thought FFIV had a nice opening for a sequel with Kain as the main character, but looks like that isn't happening any time soon. I suppose I'd be more pissed though if the game did follow through on that idea, though.

I wish I had a japanese cell phone... Maybe the damn battery would last longer than mmy phone's. When I got my cell phone, I d/l'd Burgertime to pass some time. If I play it for more than 5 minutes though, I end up with a dead battery.

So I keep hearing. Anyways, my absurd internet rage at Square has subsided. All I hope for now is that this game is as good as the mobile Dirge of Cerberus game. Still I would love to see the numbers in sales for these cell phone games when they come out. Especially for the ones I previously mentioned.
What people dont understand is that many Japanese spend a long time on bus or train, and they like to play cellphone games for those long tips. This is something that most Americans will not get as most of us dont use the public transportation.

I would play a cellphone game, if I had a cellphone with buttons and some kind of controller nub that lent themselves to gaming.
I have an LG Chocolate, I can barely dial a phone number on that damn thing. Im getting carpal tunnel syndrome just thinking about trying to use the buttons on it to play a game.
Im sure the phones in Japan are amazing, and designed with gaming in mind, but not here.

Really as nice as japanese cell phones can be it doesn't seem like it would take that much power to make emulators for them. I mean we've got semi working PS2 emulators for crying out loud there is no excuse for not making one for these.

No, I don't like the FF cellphone spinoffs because they're obviously made to make money off the fanbase, and fuck the story. No, I haven't played any of them, but I have read much of Before Crisis' script, which retcons the hell out of FFVII. With that said, even if Before Crisis was a DS or PSP game, I'd still have issues with it :-P

The problem would be getting the game out of the cell phone. Even if they managed to hack it, it will take years for them to fan translate it. I mean right now they are still working on Mother 3.

It actually plays more like an SNES game, given it's lock-on strafing system and 16-bit'esque graphics. One of the better action mobile games I've tried out.
Support the American mobile game market and maybe one day you'll see thsoe mobile games being ported here.
Our phones can certainly handle them.

Bad news, this game probably won't suck. Well now we know why it's on phones. Square is selling the game as indivdual chapters. Makes sense but still dissapointing.
