In my experience, day-after-Christmas sales have usually been crowded, but not unbearably so. Parking will suck though (people with returns, other shoppers, etc). The EB/GS's themselves won't be packed wall to wall, but the surrounding stores may be filled to the point that the lack of personal hygiene of others becomes rapidly apparent.


In short, it will be bad in a lot of places, but not Black Friday bad. Try for a GS in a mall or other such shopping area, as the bigger stores should attract the cattle away.

Just search for a game, then scroll to the bottom of your results. There will be an option to show/hide backordered used items. Doesn't work for everything, though.

For example, you can find a used copy of Mass Effect in this manner, but not Naruto:RoaN.

I know this won't help anyone with how late it is (so glad I work late tomorrow), but it's worth a shot:

Plenty of GS stores have likely seen Mass Effect used, but only a half dozen copies at most. You'd have to get there pretty early to find it. Assassin's Creed I doubt we'll run out of (and, yes, limited editions sell for the same amount as regular editions, but given how we take them in, they're not guaranteed to have all the bonus materials).

CoD4 I haven't seen used, ever.

Bioshock we have so many of we have to keep some in the back so they don't fall off the shelf and start mangling lesser games which may threaten the Little Sisters.

The online stock-check-thingy is very not always accurate. Even from our computers in-store it'll tell us what stores had no less than one day previous, and the only value it tends to show then is "less than 4."

The return/rebuy is definitely YMMV - of course it's in our policy to let you return used stuff for store credit within 7 days, but if you approach your local associates like a rude person entitled to their retroactive discount, not every one of them will be amenable, since it's not something we see a lot. You can always talk to a manager about it (ours is pretty good about letting people get the best deal, even if it's a hassle and there's a line forming), but it is their discretion, in the end, to allow the return. I can't think of any of my regulars for whom I wouldn't do this, tho.

The Wii Zapper for $19.99 is not actually a great deal -- most stores have always had it at that price.

These B2G1 sales don't come around that often, from what I can tell - I haven't endured working my GS for a whole year quite yet, but the only time I've seen them were this sale and Black Friday.

I've seen it in tons of emails, and I still don't know what FSI means o.o

picked up Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank: Future, and God of War II. Sure God of War ended up being my free game, and I probably could have played things a little a better getting all things in the same price range ... but these were the three games I wanted.

And I had a super helpful Gamestop employee ... probably one of my best Gamestop experiences. The mall I went to has two Gamestops. The one I walked into had Ratchet and God of War II, but not Uncharted ... so he called the other one told them to hold there last copy of Uncharted for me, etc. Anyway, one quick trip down the hall and then bam, the best B2G1 I could have hoped for.

And I am glad he called. I was the first person into the Gamestop I went to, and via the call, I was the first person at the other one too...so that meant I got the last copies of Ratchet and Uncharted. Which was sweet, because there were 3 other people jumping between the two stores all pretty much looking for the same games.

I was actually amazed at how helpful the GS employees were today. They're usually pretty good, but today there was a grandma, a dad and a little kid around 8 in there together picking up a bunch of games. One of them was Transformers for Wii and the staff actually double-checked to make sure that mom wouldn't object to the violence in the game. Dad said that mom might complain and they took it anyway, but I was kinda glad to see that they didn't just try to shovel as many games on the family as possible.

Went to two GS. Picked up FFXII:RW, Phantom Hourglass, and RE3 (GCN). The clerk said I got lucky on PH since someone traded it in 2 hours before I picked it up. I choose RE3 because I needed something around $30, and it'll help starting my GCN RE collection.

Then I went next door to Target to find Heroes, but no luck there. However, I did find a component cable for PSP slims on clearance for $10.

Well I went to 4 Gamestops today...all in the a.m. All four were packed with little kids running around with gift cards and angry looking parents. I managed to get some DS and 360 games along with a couple Wavebirds.

One gamestop was horrible. I was waiting in line with my things for 15 minutes and some guy in front of me was buying CoD4. He had the PS3 version in his hand, but realized he needed the 360 version. So I held his place in line but he couldn't find a copy. He decided to wait in line and ask if there was a copy behind the counter. I could see a few 360 versions available, though when he went to ask the cashier scanned a PS3 copy. Neither seemed to notice the mistake so I pointed it out.

Then they got in a fight over the price because there was a $20 difference between PS3 and 360 version. I finally told the guy to go across the street to Target or BB because they were selling for $37 over there. The manager gave me a dirty look but I don't care. I bought my stuff and left.

Aside from one of the Fire Emblems being in near perfect condition, I am reminded why I hate buying games used.

My store had a copy of Digital Devil Saga for $40 and Magna Carta: Tears of Blood for $30 which were tempting, but I passed.

They also had a decent selection of PS3 and X360 games, but even when getting one free it seems like you can buy them new if you look around for the same price or in some cases cheaper, so I passed on them as well.

Well damn I thought I cheated them a few bucks but after looking at my receipt I guess they got it fixed. Was only $119 for the stuff above since I paid with store credit so no tax. They had hella trouble ringing me up since it wasn't taking off the free game automatically and then lept wanting to adjust the RE price to $4.05 whenever they'd try to manually make it free.

Wanted the Simpsons on :360: but got cock blocked when the guy checked the system and then called the only store with it to find that it was being held for a employee.. Will probably try to trade back Uncharted for something else at another store since I already beat it when it came out. Went to the one off Southern Blvd. in RPB , FL and the place was WAY busier then I expected (that location usually is dead) and managed to get Valkyrie Profile 2 , Ico and Persona : Devil Summoner for about $45. The local Gamestop didn't have much in the way of used Wii games, but they had some nice 360 games. Picked up Gears of War, Bioshock, and Mass Effect. Spending that much it made sense to get an Edge card, something I haven't had in years. Grand total was around $110.

I also managed to find one of the rare awesome Gamestop employees. He found a few used copies of Mass Effect stashed away, and didn't mind at all when I examined the discs he picked out for scratches. Even went through a few copies of Gears of War looking for the one in the best condition. After carefully peeling off the used stickers, you'd never know they hadn't come right out of the shrink wrap.

It was a very tough decision for me (as I'm very cheap). If COD4 was available anywhere I checked, it would have been easier, but it wasn't. Not a bad loss though, it can be bought new for only $38.

I got Halo 3, Bioshock, and Overlord for $90.

I imagine I payed $40 for Halo 3, $30 for Bioshock, and $20 for Overlord. I'm very satisfied with that idea.

yes, ICO is one of the early PS2 games and wasn't on a DVD-ROM disc. It is on a PS2 disc. Don't worry, it should run perfectly fine assuming those scratches are nothing major.

I got Halo 3, Bioshock, and Overlord for $90.

I imagine I payed $40 for Halo 3, $30 for Bioshock, and $20 for Overlord. I'm very satisfied with that idea.

I've had good luck with that. I know the manager at one of my local stores, and if I ever get a game online or in store that doesn't have the case, I can stop in pretty much any time and he'll let me take just the case/manual.

Yesterday, I bought Xenosaga I and II and Megaman Powered Up (PSP). However, I also discovered that a local B. Dalton had everything half off due to a Barnes and Nobles opening up in the same mall. So, I go to return all the games I bought because I spend a ton of cash on manga and comics.

I go to return the games, assuming I will have to return all 3 games, otherwise I would be getting one free. I start talking to the cashier "I should probably play Xenosaga, but whatever."

"Actually, you can keep it, since it's the cheapest. Would you like to do this?"

"What? I can keep it? Wouldn't I be getting it free then?"

"No, it's fine."

So, I return the games and keep Xenosaga, getting my money back. A quick run to B. Balton, then Best Buy, then I go home. Then, my dad tells me that Gamestop called and said that I kept one of the games that I returned, and he says I should go return it later.

I have no intentions to return the game, because:

A: If a company/story makes a mistake and you get away with it, they have no right to try to get you to fix it by calling your house. I was fully aware that I was supposed to return all three, but the cashier let me keep the game.

B: I want to stick it to Gamestop as much as possible.

Returned the unopened copies of GH2, GH3 and 2K8 to Gamestop for $220 in credit (which apparently they were happy to do because they were sold out of the GH bundles) and picked up GH3 PS3 along with:

Heavenly Sword - $49
Madden 08 - $49
Uncharted - $0

Which left us a balance owed of $1.08 which they put on a gift card.

I didnt want Madden so I went to the Gamestop on the lower level (our mall has a GS on each floor) returned it (He gave me the pre-edge price of $54.99) and bought Ratchet & Clank new and paid the $5 difference.

End result as of now is about $94 out of pocket total for GH3 PS3, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, and R&C: FTOD.

I took my son to BB to spend a $25 GC he got in his stocking and we picked up Assassins Creed PS3 for $27 after coupon. We passed on COD4 as we have it for the PC.

Anything else we should pick up for the PS3 thats a must have?

it is against the law for employers to force an employee to pay for or dock someone pay for lost goods. It's definitely $19.99 new cause I picked it up along with TimeShift for a total of $54.xx. At first they rung up with their normal prices but were quickly changed.
