Isn't Pack 4 supposed to be the Island one? And I thought it'd be coming out in November.

We're finally ready to unveil the first in a wide range of new Burnout Paradise content for 2009.
Our first pack of the year will be called Burnout™ Paradise Party.
Burnout Paradise is an awesome social game, but the action's all online. With Party, we wanted to create something for when all the players are in one place – gathered around a single screen.
Fans of the classic Crash Mode from Burnout 2: Point of Impact will know that this is not the first time we've done something like this. And we hope the response to Party is as warm as it was for Crash mode.
So, if you like to get together and play games, it's time to break out the drinks, party hats and balloons!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3157/2989100408_f7a7ac6a3b.jpg
Now you can enjoy Burnout Paradise in a completely new way.
1. Get together with up to 7 friends and gather round a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Here you can see us lining up for a little Halloween-themed fun with Burnout Party. You can see the full session in our latest Crash TV video podcast (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=282477732)- it's The Halloween Special!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3251/2988244053_78aa742400.jpg
2. Start Burnout Paradise and get the Party Pack update from the Store or Xbox Live
3. Pause to admire the excellent new Party Edition visuals and atmosphere! We've overhauled not just the presentation screens but also the in-game visuals, which are now brighter and more colourful in recognition of Burnout's new party theme.
4. Select 8-player party and get ready for the action.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3046/2988243825_46e4380728.jpg
5. It's pass-the-pad, so you'll only need one controller to play, no matter how many players are involved!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3272/2988244013_9150ce2f6a.jpg
6. The game selects a player at random and drops them into Paradise with a simple, fun challenge to complete.
Land a barrel roll!

Race a circuit of the dirt track in the best possible time

There are 3 types of challenge to take on – Stunt, Speed and Skill. Stunt involves jumps and tricks. Speed features quick time trials and timed challenges. Skill includes racing through oncoming traffic and drifting your car.
7. Pick up the winner and run around cheering / commiserate the loser

8. Give it another go! Don’t forget, there are extra trophies and achievements available within this pack.

You'll be able to purchase this awesome premium Burnout Paradise content from February 2009.

Is that the first Paradise update that'll cost money?
Also, that looks like it has no use unless someone has a bunch of real life friends that likes to play video games. Most of the people I know that enjoy video games I met on CAG.:)

Looks like I won't be getting that pack.
Oh well. Too bad the first of the year isn't Islands.
I bet they wait until the last update to give us that.
Oh well, that keeps me free to play Gears 2, LBP, etc.

It has trophies, therefore, it has a use. That's pretty much it though.
But the trophies would, most likely, have to all be "faked" unless you have a group of "real life" friends that like video games.
It just seems silly for them to focus on local multiplayer.:???:

Yeah, generally if I have more than 2 people at my house it's SingStar, Rock Band, Buzz Quiz. I'm going to bet that those people probably woudn't really be up for a bout of BP Party.
If I'm going to pay just for trophies I'll pick up something I want to play.

Yeah, that too, there are better local multiplayer games to play, ones where it's more fun for the people that are waiting for their turn to play. Racing games aren't that fun to watch, in my opinion.
This just seems like a bad idea...

They announced that they're using the in-game browser for a new Burnout Live News page:
We're working hard to get closer to our fans this year.
We've already invited many to join us here at CriterionGames for a tour of the studio and a chance to meet the Burnout team. We introduced a blog and an in-game news service, so we could deliver all the latest Burnout news direct to the people that matter most, and we're bringing you all the latest information on what we're building and why, as we go about bringing Burnout Paradise the greatest online support for a game ever.
Now, we're making use of Sony's incredible in-game PlayStation 3 browser to go a step beyond.
We're taking the existing Burnout Live News Page and revolutionising it using the PlayStation browser to bring you a massively upgraded news service, enhanced social play and much, much more – the result is something we're calling the Burnout Paradise Network.
We're looking forward to bringing you more information on this in the new year.http://www.criteriongames.com/article.php?artID=366
They also announced a Burnout Paradise rerelease, called Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box:
The Ultimate Box will be available in Feb 2009 and will contain the original Burnout Paradise, including Codenamed Cagney and Burnout Bikes, and also Burnout Paradise Party plus a mountain of new refinements.
Edit: There's no reason to get upset about paid DLC yet since the bikes were planned to be sold until a few weeks before it came out.

Here’s this week’s big announcement!
We’re talking Burnout Paradise Legendary Cars.
This year, we’ve introduced some of the most incredible vehicles yet seen in a Burnout game. Our FREE Cagney pack brought you the crazy Steel Oval Racer and the Hippie Wagon, and the FREE Bikes Pack brought motorcycles to Paradise City for the first time ever.
In 2009, we’re taking Burnout vehicles to the next level with some truly unbelievable new vehicles. First up – The Jansen 88 Special.
This classic 1980’s styled silver sports car is based on the fan-favourite Jansen P12, but we’ve made a few interesting modifications.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3071/3010941974_ba41bf8a0b.jpg?v=0 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/criteriongames/3010941974/sizes/o/)
Fill the gauge and hit boost to trigger burning flame trails from your back wheels. The 88 Special’s fast, manoeuvrable and great in the air.
In fact, if you want to take off, this is just the car for you. Hit L3 to switch to hover mode – the wheels retract and the car takes off and hovers through Paradise City at head height.
Seriously. It hovers.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3064/3010104971_206be766b2.jpg?v=0 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/criteriongames/3010104971/sizes/o/)
This is the first of 4 cars that we’re making available as part of a wealth of new downloadable content for Burnout Paradise. They’re available to buy individually or discounted, if you pick up the whole set. In addition to the Jansen 88 Special, look out for the Cavalry Bootlegger, Manhattan Spirit and the GT Nighthawk.
We’ll bring you details of these in a future post or on Crash TV – our video podcast.
We’ll be back next week with another cracking podcast and another killer announcement for next year’s awesome Burnout Paradise content.

I want to unlock all the cars in the game and was wondering, do I need to complete all the Stunts to do this? I really hate these and have NO fun doing them. Im on the elite and have 10 left, along with 42 other events.
If I have to do the stunts, does anyone have any tips for these? They keep raising the damn goal and I cant get anywhere.
I have to get the Ubershcall online by completing 2 challenges. Is anyone here in the same boat and want to give it a shot, or is anyone here willling to help me out? Everyone I know owns a 360 so I need some PS friends.

I'm also terrible at stunts, but what I've learned is to just kep boosting for a second every little bit (or drift) so you keep the same chain going and just try to bump up the multiplier with big jumps and signs.
There used to be CAG online nights and we were having 8 people in a room, I hope they haven't dissapeared...

I think it's on a long hiatus. A lot of new games came out these past few weeks and there's still more on the way. But you can still ask around and see if anyone wants to play.

There used to be CAG online nights and we were having 8 people in a room, I hope they haven't dissapeared...It will be back, do not worry. The thread is still around. Things have been a bit crazy as of late due to various games. TBH, part of it has to do with debating how to fit in a few games.
But if people want to play it together (without me), they are more than welcome to, just let me know, I'll update my Burnout thread (it's a page or two back) and tell everyone who is hosting.

I've been very busy myself lately (so much that I've purposely avoided getting LBP and Resistance 2 just so they don't tempt me yet), but once December rolls around I'd be up for bringing burnout back occasionally.

Here's my secret: no matter where the event starts, just boost and keep alive until you get to the bridge in the southwest. Flatspin while flying off the ramps, making sure to go through the billboards. When you hit the west end, turn around and drive back east, hitting any jumps you missed. Directly after the bridge there's a shortcut to your right which goes over some shipping crates. Just stay off the roads, and you end up going through a ton of billboards, super jumps, etc and get a huge multiplier. Just don't crash.

Well I had been trying that but I could never make it. What really helped was the mentioning to use boost once in awhile to link! Because of that I can get there now, I was just draining boost to get there asap. I have 5 stunts left and theyre the furthest from the bridge, Im curious if I can make it..... just dont crash is right! Thanks man.

This. Also just north of the west end of the bridge (driving south past the quarry entrance) is that stupidly big super jump. Barrel roll off that and it's an automatic 4x multiplier. And then if you make it through what pete said keep going up to the naval yard and go west across the beach.

I just got a PS3 and one of the few games that have intrigued me has been Burnout. I don't particularly like racing games but with all the content that I keep hearing they add I feel that after LBP (won w/system) and Fallout (B.Fri sale) that perhaps Burnout should be my third game. I did recently hear that if you download the game you don't get all the content as opposed to having the disc. Is this true? I don't really care if I have to use the disc. I kinda prefer it actually but if I can't find it easily in stores can I get the same extras on the DL version or should I extend my looking radius?

The only thing you miss out on in the PSN version is the retail cars (which you put in via password, which isn't there). Everything else you get. Bikes, Challenges, etc. You get it all for free.
I don't like racing games, but I love Burnout Paradise.

When you host stuff online, you have to have at least one other person in the lobby in order to do Challenges.

Here's some news:
- The Ultimate Box will be released on Feb. 5th/6th. PS3/360 get it everywhere outside of North America. UB will not be released on PS3/360 in NA.
- The PSN version of Burnout Paradise will be lowered to $19.99 between now and then
- The Party Pack is not free (Like IGN wants you to believe)
KingBroly, I think you lost some words off of the first bullet point. The UB is PC-exclusive in NA (i.e., not coming out on PS3/360).

The best part of the release date announcements:
And finally, for all those of you that aren't ready to part with your hard-earned cash just yet, comes the great news that on the 5th Feb, we'll be giving Burnout Paradise yet another barrage of FREE improvements, with a massive free update.
We'll bring you full details over the coming days, but this overhaul to the game includes the introduction of our all-new in-game website and awesome in-game store. We've also worked on changes to game modes, visuals, the entire vehicle dynamics system. Oh, and we've added a restart !
So I guess that means a new revision for the front end.

I'm only 70 events away from getting the coveted Burnout Elite License. I also have 2 cars still lurking about the city that I can't find (1 new one just popped up though). The races are pretty easy on this level, even with the insane AI if you have use the Carson Inferno Van, or its' Burning Route car.
This is because it's very hard for your car to wreck and they sort of rubber band back to you if you're behind them (once you're in front though, unless you crash, they aren't catching you). I'm definitely going to tackle the Burning Routes last, though.
If someone doesn't update the OP soon, I might just have to start a new thread myself. Why? Because I love this game that much.
EDIT: 63 events now
pete5883
02-01-2009, 11:20 AM
I think saving Burning Routes for last is a bad idea. Since there's no restart yet, losing the event means you have to drive all the way back to the start with nothing to do, because you've already done all the other events.

I'm guessing that not only do we get the Party Pack, but the Time Savers' Pack (Unlock everything for a price) as well. I hope they release the Legendary cars as well, though. As for everything else, they're being very, very silent about it. We haven't even seen proper screens of the Toy Cars.

Okay, I've been doing my research and whatnot, but I still have some unanswered questions between the Disc version and PSN version of that game. And now that both retails for $20's, this will be my first racer on the PS3
The biggest question that I have is that I heard that the PSN version comes with all the DLCs that is available for the game, BOTH the free and the paid ones. Am I right to assume that the disc version doesn't come with the paid DLC, and that I would need to pick that up those up is I went with the disc version?
I heard that the PSN version also loads noticably faster than the disc version (which is a big plus). Aside from that, anything other important differences?
PS: I know I could score the disc version for cheaper than $20 if I buy it used somewhere, and there has something to be said on owning a physical disc and the nice packaging it comes with, but for the sake of argument, I will omit those facts.

How bigs your hd? I didnt really think of this but I got the 80 gig so I guess it can hold more.. plus I figure paying $4-5 dollars for the game then play the hell out of it can delete it later if needed for more space for a new game is slightly better than buying it for $20 and having to sell it for $5-10 after I am through with it... but thats just me..

Hmm, well that dispels that rumor that I heard.
I guess another question that I have is "can I get ALL of the content available for the PSN version for the disc version too?" I read somewhere that the PSN version has access to the stuff from the "game of the year" edition (or something like that). I know this may be an obvious yes, but I'm just making sure.
I rather ask a ton of stoopid questions, than just buy the game and feel and be stoopid afterwards.

Both are the same, no paid DLC yet. But assuming HD space isn't an issue (if it is you'll probably need to upgrade eventually anyway) get the downloadable one, I love not needing to put in a disc and have probably played it much more because it's on the menu then I might have otherwise (it's a great game so I would have played it a lot no matter what). If you find people to share with that is ideal - if you're into that, but I find having it on the system is more valuable than having the physical object (which I didn't expect).

One thing to note, in case you didn't know, the games are not compatible. You cannot play one, and then decide that you'd like to get the other and continue your progress. The save files from one version (Psn vs. disc) are incompatible.

Except for the media they come on, the versions are identical.
The PSN version is sharable so if you are in a group you can split the cost legally. I can't speak for the loading times, but having it on my harddrive has been a big plus for me. Much easier to just boot up and go.
Since I got it through a game share which made it essentially $6, it has been the best purchase value for me on my PS3 and one of my top 2 games overall.
Since you posted a few hours ago, know that you could already be playing it if you bought the PSN version. :)
For what it's worth, you can't type in the sponser codes to unlock those cars in the PSN version. (The Best Buy, Gamestop, ect cars). Believe me when I say that it doesn't detract from the game in the slightest. I'd prefer to have the PSN version, but I got my Burnout license already after the trophy update with the disc version so I'm sticking with it.

Yep, do a few events or just drive around and explore for a bit. Look for super jumps, billboards to smash, parking garages to drive off, etc.
After a few events you'll start unlocking cars. Once you unlock a car you can hop in that car from a junkyard. There are also events called Burning routes for most of the cars, completing them unlocks a different version of the car with different focuses in attributes (usually more boost power). The handy thing about the early burning routes is they'll often point you in the direction of good streets/shortcuts to take when the race events start getting tougher.
ohvermie
02-04-2009, 05:49 PM
I'm not quite sure why everyone poo-poos this game for not having a restart race feature. There are just so many events to do, but I guess this isn't really a problem early game when you only need 15-19 wins to upgrade your license, so you can just do any challenges you find. I guess to get the highest grade you will have to complete every single challenge?
StrandedBrit
02-04-2009, 06:07 PM
To get a Burnout Elite license you have to do all. I was there once upon a time before a dead PS3 and honestly by that point driving back 30-60 seconds to restart those last few events isn't too bad, especially seeing as by that point you should be so good that most events don't need to be done more than once anyway. So yeah the restart isn't a biggie for me seeing as driving about the map usually helps find new routes, billboards, jumps etc.

Ehh... I don't usually watch the podcasts. When I saw "Time Saver's Pack" I thought it was named that for the "Restart".
And here (http://criteriongames.com/article.php?artID=384)'s where I saw the patch was coming the 6th.
Also, it says
We’ve tweaked the handling on the first available cars, like the Hunter Cavalry, to make the game easier and more accessible.
These cars are now slower, harder to crash and less likely to spin out at low speeds. This’ll help any newcomers get into the game, but it also delivers greater variety between the early cars to the faster, more challenging later ones.
The speeds of the rival cars and Burning Route times have been changed to accommodate new car speeds.
I hope they didn't make all the cars slower.
KingBroly
02-05-2009, 02:20 AM

Well, from what I can see, nothing is slower. If they are, it's not really noticeable. The dots in the Junk Yard are less now, but I'm guessing that's because the upcoming DLC cars are faster.

Hitting restart, then as soon as the race restarts hold the brakes to end the challenge, then wait a few seconds and manually start the race again should fix that I would imagine.

In short, I'd avoid the party pack unless you have friends you'd like to play with, pass-the-controller style and/or are a complete trophy whore.
I really think this add on should have been more like $5, considering what you get. I don't see any way to pick a particular event; you only choose what *type* of event to do (skill, stunt, speed) and then it just gives you a random one of that type (or you can pick random type). This should increase variety and make it feel kinda fresh, but some fine-grain control over what specific event to play would have been nice too.
I already had money in my "wallet", wanted the trophies (which are ridiculously easy), and figured I'd throw them a bone since they have done such an amazing job supporting the game with patches and free content thus far.
To those of you hunting for trophies: obviously you need a camera for one of them.... it took me a couple tries to unlock it; I think you might have to actually edit each player name AND take a pic. I may be wrong, but it didn't seem to work if I just left 'player 1', etc. and then took a photo.
Also, I apparently need to working on my reading skills, because I played a couple of single-round 8-player games and didn't understand why the 'massive party' trophy didn't unlock. It requires playing an *8-round* 8-player game, which is clearly stated in the trophy description, but I overlooked that. I got all the Party Pack trophies (except massive party) within about 15-20 minutes.
Also, just FYI.... this is one of those 'not-really-a-download' kind of downloads. All the game data is included in the new patch, the $9.99 download is only 100 KB and thus obviously only unlocks the new content. Not that it really matters, but just FYI, you won't have to wait for a big download if you choose to purchase it.
I noticed the Burnout billboards are now a bright neon and really stand out at night. Not sure how much they stand out during the day - but they are super bright at night. Also the smash gates appear to be brighter also.

Yep, that was all part of the patch. Super Jumps are also brighter now.
Vibrant Visuals
Paradise City is filled with a whole world of objects waiting to be discovered. We wanted to make it a little easier to spot them, so we’ve modified the colours of the Billboards (red) and Smashes (yellow) and Super Jumps (blue). They also now pulse for added visibility.

We’ve also overhauled the lighting to bring you more vibrant visuals. We wanted to make it easier to see at night and give everything a more vibrant feel with brighter, more saturated Burnout color.

I really like all the new colors that they put it. Everything is brighter and the visuals really pop and it's much easier to see things at night. I didn't need a restart button because I finished everything but I'm sure it's appreciated by those who do. I won't be buying this dlc and I hope we don't have to wait a month until legendary cars.

90% sure this was the case before restart was implemented. Going around a certain bend, I'd see the same car every time no matter how many times I failed the event.

The only car restrictions are the Burning Routes (where you have to use a certain car in a "Race against the clock" to unlock a "better" version of the car). Otherwise you can use any kinda car for any event.

If the release of the Party Pack wasn't enough for you, we've got more!
Today, we're proud to announce a brand new pack for 2009.
But, you'll have to head for the pages of the all new Criterion Games Network in Burnout Paradise on PS3 or PC to find out about this one.
See you there!

Yeah, it's just screenshots though. It just seems like Marked Man to me, but with sirens. I'm beginning to think that the Legendary or Toy cars and Boost cars will be bundled together. There are only 2 boost cars, and charging $10 for just those 2 would be sort of ridiculous. Either way, we're getting 3 car packs before Big Surf Island, at least if the Trophies are deemed to be the order of their releases. I've also heard the possibility that by the end of the year, Burnout will get a 2nd Platinum Trophy. I doubt it's true, though.
So, people are wondering about the Party Pack. Well, because I'm a weak, feeble minded fool, I bought it. Is it worth $10? Uh...maybe. I played it for an hour, seemed pretty fun. Could've been streamlined a little better. It doesn't tell you which round of a party you are on, which is sort of annoying. Pretty easy Trophies, too. It seems like a Challenge Mode to me more than a Pass the Pad sort of thing. Sure, it can be used for multiple people on the couch, but you can, I believe, do a 1 person party.
If you have at least 2 people who could play it in the same place, probably a good buy, even though it'd be short. But like I said, it's basically a Challenge Mode. And yes, some of them are kind of difficult.

well i finally caved. I stopped by my local electronics store with a $11 gift card i had and there wasn't any excuse left to not buy Burnout so I picked it up. I even played for a few hours unpatched so I could get a feel for how much changed. I don't think i need to tell most of you that it changed a lot. I'm not 100% on how the flow of the game works yet but I'm getting there and on the whole. I dig it. I guess I'll be reading this thread now that i can get a feel for what's going on.

I "had" a similar problem, before the patch, right after I unlocked the "Gamestop" car. Right after choosing my car the game would lock up. I fixed it by choosing the "Gamestop" car.
If you can choose the car, but it locks up after you choose one, I'd say try picking the one you most recently unlocked. If it locks up right after picking "Play with cars", or whatever it says now, I'd try playing with bikes, then going into a junkyard to see if you can choose cars that way (I don't know how it works since the patch, since I haven't done that.)

My advice for getting the Elite License is to use the Inferno Van, or its' Special model. Why? The opponents rubber band to you if they're in front of you, mostly. Also it's very hard for you to crash from cars they take out. Races aren't the hard part. The hard part becomes the Road Rage events.
Oh, and for Stunt Runs, take it very slow. Really easy once you do it that way.

Don't feel bad, I thought the same thing, tried looking for it on the start menu and it wasn't until I clicked right to do some online freeburning that I saw the "restart event" option.
For the PCPD, I don't see how it could be much different than the online freeburn marked man game. Maybe it's more like the offline Marked Man event where the target has access to boost and has to escape to a certain location? It'd also be nice if the PCPD pack gave us some more siren choices, a few more from other European countries, old fashioned hand-cranked, etc. Maybe the PCPD pack adds cops patroling for speeding/wanton destruction in between events in Paradise city?

They took out the codes with the update. If you already have the cars, you can keep them but there is nowhere to enter the codes after you've updated with the latest patch. According to one forum, to get those cars, you'd have to delete your game data, don't delete your save files, and reinstall the game without having your ps3 connected to the internet. You can then enter the codes for the cars and then go online for the update patches.

Dang, I'm glad I already entered those codes, I wonder why they took that out?
Also one other thing about the restart, you can use that even if you successfully complete that event. I've found that highly useful when I've completed all the events in the NW corner of the map and all the rest of the events keep sending me from downtown all the way up there. Once you complete the event to the NW corner, restart, hold the brakes to stop the event, then you're in prime position to do another event from the eastern side of the map to the NW corner.

After the Party Pack was $10 I figured the collection of all 4 cars would be $10, making them 2.50 to 2.49 each then a bundle pack for a dollar or two less. That is what ended up happening, but since there is perceived extra interest in the Delorean they just shifted some of the cost from the other cars to the one with the most interest. Like those DVD bundle packs which have 1 or 2 good movies and the rest crappy movies. It was likely also done that way so that all the cars would cost the retail trickery of XX.99 (does anyone still fall for this?)
I'm interested in at least 2 of the cars so I'll probably just go ahead and get the bundle. It's a shame there couldn't be a 30 second timer when you select them at the Junkyard to try out the cars for free to see how they handle and if you wish to purchase them.

From the Burnout Paradise Network, the pricing:
Pricing for the Legendary Cars:
Individual
88 Special (DeLorean) - 3.99
Manhattan Spirit (Ghostbusters) - 1.99
Cavalry Bootlegger (General Lee) - 1.99
GT Nighthawk (KITT) - 1.99
Legendary Cars Pack Bundle - 7.99
I mainly want KITT and maybe the DeLorean.

I love that song a lot, by Avril Lavigne. I wish I could have the game loop that song playing it over and over again. ;)
Burnout is tough to play on an SDTV. The mini map is tough to read.heck yeah Mana.. I love that song too. I remember when I found that song online (actually it was the Lil Mama Remix) I used to game to those two tracks on repeat. ahh I'm easy to please.

This... I can't stand how 90 percent of cars in the game handle.

I'm wondering how much the island will cost. I was hoping for 10 ( maybe 15 ) but with how overpriced the DLC has been so far I'm thinking it will be more. I understand Criterion has given us a lot for free but these prices are kinda high IMO.

I suspect the island will be $20 or $25. Though if it adds another Platinum trophy, I wouldn't be surprised if it were $30.

Open up Easy Drive by hitting right on the D-Pad. Go to Soundtracks, hit right, then choose Custom. From there, you can choose which tracks you want to play.

Criterion definitely wants our money today it seems. Alongside the Legendary Cars pack is the Time Savers' Pack, where you get the ability to use every car, but you have to get the appropriate License first (defeats the point of saving time?), and several Toy Cars Packs, which if bought together is $12...
Recap for today
Legendary Cars: $8 ($10 for all 4 separately)
Time Savers' Pack: ??? (???)
Toy Cars Pack: $12 (???)

Thanks for the vids randy. Cars actually look decent, but that pricing really detracts. I'm really wanting ECTO1 but I keep reminding myself that it probably handles like a barge.
Time Saves' Pack is EA ghetto.
Toy Cars Pack = more info please.

Here's hoping that all this new DLC will come together in some cheap to get bundle in the future... I really do want all this stuff (for obvious reasons), but I just can't justify paying for all of it at this time.

Wait, so is the KITT-clone the 1980's or 2008 version? Looking at that trailer it looks like the latter and if that's the case I'm kinda disappointed. It already had a strike against it since I don't like speed-boost cars.

Yeah, it's based off the latter version

Just got a hard copy of Paradise City and I'm tooling around with it. I seem to get kicked from most lobbies so I guess I'll work on Solo until I get used to the world map. I'm faintly familiar with the series so I'm more looking into crashing :)
Any tips for newbies? (I'll try and join CAG night once I get a mic)

Man 8 bucks for 2 cars, the same price as the Legendary Cars pack. At this rate I can't see Big Surf Island being less than $20.

If the island is less than $30 I'd be surprised.

Just learn the city and the layout of the streets in the various burrows. There's nothing that can improve your game as much as that.
