A hex upon thee! Ye do not know the evil that be "Top Gun"...
The solstice has come and gone many times since the day at the school where the Seminoles roam free (FSU) was afflicted by the horror. It was supposed to be a time of meriment and relaxation. A break from hard labor and higher math! He Who Guards The Tapes, those tapes shown on the box with images, joined the revelry of his classmates.
Alas, as He Who Guards The Tapes went off to imbibe libations and carouse with many women, he forgot his noble duty to change The Tapes with which He guards. So, for this week, the evil know as "Top Gun" repeated for many, many moons! At first the dorm folks were amuses by it's novelty. Yet, as the sun raised over and over, the insidious evil of "Top Gun" wove it's blight.
The symptoms were subtle... At first the dorm people had trouble sleeping. Then they would hear strange warnings about a "Danger Zone" like from a dream. Alcohol began to lose it's power to block out the evil known as "Top Gun" as it played over and over and over. Hundred's of geese died! Cats started giving birth to dogs! Men would bleed from the nose and eyes! Women from the remaining orifices! The suffering was indescribable.
A great cry came forth for a hero. Word spread quickly among the halls! A quest was undertaken to find He Who Guards The Tapes. After several days, He was found passed out in a womens bathroom across the green. After a day of medication, He was able to summon the strength to Unlock the forbidden room and swith The Tapes so that "Top Gun" would never, ever. ever again curse the home of the Seminoles.
So, I wartn thee, heed this story well, lest the evil that be Top Gun work is subtle blight upon your kin and keep!

It's evil. There was an infamous time at FSU When they repeated top gun for like two weeks straight! No one who lived thought that can ever ever enjoy Top Gun again! It shows the truly insidious evil that is Top Gun. You sit around and have Top gun play on your TV for 300+ hours straight.

I may have only seen snippets of the movie, but it was my dad's favorite movie (since he was in the Navy) and would always play the soundtrack. So Danger Zone and Take My Breath Away became some of my favorite songs. :3

I saw the movie in the theater and I didn't like it. It was too cheesy and the dogfights were all over the place. To me the movie represents all the excesses of the '80s like Big hair, goofy music with drums with too much sustain, etc...
Still, the movie made a lot of money so I'm sure there are a lot of people who liked it. More power to them...

How many more evils will Jerry Bruckheimer unleash on the world? HOW MANY MORE?

i loved that movie when i was 4...that was almost 20 years ago...the jaw snapping thing that kilmer does...classic man...and would the navy really allow all the showboating and undisciplined crap they do? if this movie were more realistic it would have ended quickly with a courtmarshall...if it were more ridiculous it would have had will smith as maverick's wingman as they fight alien invaders...oh wait...that's another movie...

I'm not a Tom Cruise fan but I like Top Gun. If I'm flipping through channels and come across the once a week showing of it I'll watch it.

I dont hate the 80's.
I didn't like the Big hair which was fashionable at the time. Lets not forget the bad Saturday Morning Cartoons or the fact that it seemed like every movie that won best picture at the Oscars sucked during the 80's.
I did like some things about the 80's like Prince, the early arcade games, Differnt Strokes on TV, etc.
Overall, I had mixed feelings for the 80's.
