my cousin, she kinda has her heat set on this university she wants too go to, but she only has like and 83 avergae and 1030 on her SAT, what universtiy could she possibly get into I ask myself, she wants Adelphi, I think she has a very slim chance, what do you all think
She has her heat set on the university?
Anyway, at least in California, you can go to a Community College for 2 years then transfer into the school of your choice as long as it is in California.

This definitely raises the question, is she hot?
The next question is, can she claim some special ethnic distinction or horrible suffering in her life? Many colleges value whining over academic achievement these days.

community college will pretty much take you if you have a diploma/ged and money...otherwise retake the sat cause not many will take below 1100 due to higher competition now...unless she was heavily involved in extra cirricular activities...

What about state universities? I went to a state university and had SAT scores of 1080 or something like that. It was known at the time as one of the top party schools, but that's beside the point.
SAT scores aren't everything when it comes to getting into schools. Previous grades, extracurricular activities, employment history, etc.... those all count too.
Many 2-year colleges offer an education comparable to many 4-year schools but at significantly lower costs. If she doesn't get into where she wants to go she can always try a 2-year school for a year or 2, prove herself, and then re-apply.

the main reason i say scores of less than 1100 aren't that good anymore is that they were good 4 years ago...but with the economy troubles the past 3 years the first thing that happens besides layoffs is college enrollment goes up...big time...people that got laid off or those who want to secure their current jobs enroll to either finish a degree or get a masters or some certification to make them more valuable...most colleges the past few years have been filled to capacity and can be picky about who they accept...so if you don't have the academics you better have something good to offer like being very involved around campus

83 Average?...What is that in GPA exactly? Also, I know of a few people that weren't exactly academic all stars and got into Adelphi thanks to outstanding skills in arts. So if she is truly good in that then there's a shot too. Also, tell her to retake the SATs once more if not twice if she can bear the cost...Your scores genreally goes up 50-80 pts each time. One more thing, what was the class percentile? If you are top 30% or so and have some extra-coricculars that can help alot too.

Depends on the school and major for real standards. I probably would have gotten into Berkeley had I gone undeclared, but I decided to apply for biochem-eng/bioengineering and I'm going to Davis. And my SAT was a 1440, so you never know...

I got into a private university with a 3.6 GPA (out of 4.0) and a 1040 SAT score. They even tossed in two academic scholarships. You'll never know if you'll be able to get into a university without sending in the applicaiton.

Truer words were never spoken...If you really want in, then apply there no matter what because the only way you can is by applying in the first place. Also the earlier she applies the better.

Colleges these days are putting a lot less weight on SAT's than when I applied. It's seems to be almost "chic" for colleges to disparage the SAT as an indicator; some universities (good ones too, I think even the UC system maybe?) even considered dropping the SAT requirement altogether. As long as you can stand out in a good way from other applicants, especially during the interview, you never know.

I took the ACT test, so does anyone know what a 26 is equivalent to for the SAT?
