WHY?! WHY, SUMMER, WHY DO YOU PASS BY SO QUICKLY?!?! It is true, I have to go to school tommorow. Yep, stuck in that shit-hole for a whole 'nother year. I can't believe I'm already going back to fucking school! I'm heading into 8th grade, so I gotta start going deeper into algebra (yay), so that's one thing I'm dreading. Besides that, I think school should be alright, like 7th grade was, but still, it's not like I'm looking forward to going. At least 8th grade is the only hall that's been re-built during the construction, 'cause our school was pretty shitty before construction started. Man, it's gonna be a bitch tommorow waking up as I'm used to waking up at 12 PM. I think I'm gonna take sleeping pills by 12 tonight so I can go to sleep easier. But I'm also thinking about not doing that as I used to stay up till 1 to 3 AM on school nights and just take a nap to re-energize myself after I got back from school. Yeah, I think I'll just stay up since you don't have to do anything on the first day of school. Anyway, when do y'all start going back to school?

Whoa, 8th grade? I've read your posts, and I never would have guessed you're that young. Anyways, enjoy it. Middle school is hell. Just remember that after this, you go to high school. Not that high school is great, either, but it's much better than middle school.

I'd say High School is better than Middle School. Midde Scool is the test before High School. If you are looking for a good time in Middle School, you will find it in High School.

Hehe... You'll learn soon enough.

8th grade was probably the best year of my school career until maybe this new year because I'l be a senior. If you go to a middle school, 8th grade is going to kick serious ass. Do as much crazy and fun stuff as you can think of because next year you will again be at the bottom of the totem pole. High school life is tought for some but was awesome for me. You'll meet hundreds of new people and make an entire new circle of friends. You'll lose contact with some of your old friends but get closer with others. You'll go to parties, not the parent-monitored dance parties you're used to, I'm talking all night multi-kegger and smoke out parties that will end at 3 am when the police show up. You'll meet many fine girls, just don't get too invloved until the end of sophomore year. You'll get to experience a sweet sweet thing I like to call poonanny. It really is great. Some advice: Don't hang with the wrong crowd, don't smoke too often, and don't hold grudges.

Don't think for a second high school is going to be this awesome experience. While still a fantasy-land in regards to the processes of the real world; you'll be seeing human nature at its worst. Just prepare for a heaping-helping of bullshit in the likes of which you have never seen. I'm glad I graduated just a few scant months ago. At anyrate, enjoy yourself. Only 5 more school years to go!.....Then 4 of college....and possibly 3 or so more after that! YEAH!

for k-12, high school was the best, elementary is 2nd and middle school is the worst. but enjoy you're time while you have it. before you know it you'll be outta school and wondering what the hell you're gonna do with you're life (besides play videogames).

If the thing that makes high school is beer or pot, then you could tell me as I'm definitely not sheltered in that area. I already smoke pot (please people, don't start a flame war), so tht won't be as much as a plus, but I am looking forward to more parties without parents. :D Also, in your opinion, how much is smoking too much?

I remember in my middle school, they kept scaring us into how we are basically set there into a path for life that got really annoying by 8th grade. In high school, all the counselors tend to shut up. And I definitely thought you'd be in 10th or 11th grade.

A tip for everyone who's entering or still in high school- try and find Freaks & Geeks on DVD. It somehow just seems to really help sort things out and provides a nice commentary on stuff you're going to be seeing.

High school will suck, but the trick is to stop caring as much. I'm not talking about your education, but about other people. Give em the finger whenever they piss you off and walk away; the idiots in high school feed off attention, so don't give it to them.

Enjoy middleschool while it lasts. 8th grade is way better then 7th grade. Oh, and despite what they want you to think, MS grades don't count for shit. They mean nothing. So don't worry about grades or anything, and have a hell of a fun time. Personally high school is a lot like middle school to me, but middle school was way easier. Just enjoy it while it lasts.

It's just that so many of the kids here express themselves in a manner that verges on gibberish. It's not so much English as a second language but as a second form of illiteracy. Seeing those postings is a bit dismaying to a high school dropout GED type such as me. I find I could have racked up a serious set of academic credentials if my continued presence didn't require substantial death and property damage to be tolerable.

I start college on Sept. 7th, which I only have one class, my busiest days are tuesday and thursday. It kicks so much more ass than HS. My school system was so screwed up, I went to elementary till 4th, when it was shut down and sold to the church next door. Then went to the closest one for the next year, and then onto middle school for 2 years. Next is Jr. High for the next 2 years, and then finally high school for 10th-12th grades.

I very much agree. Either kick their ass or give them the finger or ignore them. I've done both numerous times.

Oh man, you all don't realize how lucky you have it. Seriously. When I was your age I wanted to get out of school as much as you do. But do you know what happens when you become an independent adult?

You have to pay bills. This includes rent and/or mortgage, which will likely suck up around half of your monthly income, if not more. If you lose your job, you risk becoming homeless. (The economy sucks and many of my co-workers have lost their jobs due to layoffs, and I'm sure there will be more.) Don't forget the car payment and car insurance as you will need a car to get to work. This will suck up another huge part of what little income you have left.

Think you're gonna do nothing but party? Think again. You probably won't have enough money left to party. You still have to pay for your food and utilities. And if you can get a full-time job where you don't have to work 50 hours a week, you'll be lucky.

But I suppose some of you think you'll get a great-paying job even though you screw around in school. Yeah, I thought the same thing too. But it doesn't happen that way. The ones who work hard in school and don't give other people a hard time and go on to college are the ones who make the bigger bucks. The people you curse at now and give obscene gestures to may very well be your boss in the future.

Just speaking from experience here, and I've got plenty of it. I used to think the way a lot of you think, and if I could go back and change any of that now and start over, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If you have a roof over your head, food on your plate, and don't get abused by people in your house, you should thank them. Stay in school, stay off drugs, and don't let your life waste away. Mistakes are costly.

I move in to college on August 28th (a day early thanks to the Republican Convention). For those starting your junior year in high school- HAHA. I promise you, 11th grade will be the WORST year of your life. SATs, visiting colleges, college essays and the like all SUCK. I hope you at least get better teachers than me. I had to write so much during my junior year that I just can't bring myself to do it anymore. But once you finish it, you're practically done with real school. You have half of senior year and then it seems everyone just kind of gives up, including teachers.

Trust me.. get into real life and you'll regret ever graduating. Life is many many times easier and more enjoyable while you're in school, especially HS. Oh, and be glad you atleast have a summer break, those of us who are already out of school get to work year round.

But hey, if I ever get around to starting a crime wave and/or mafia family, atleast it'll be easy year round work.

For once I agree with Cornfedwb. School is so much easier than the real world. Honestly what do you really have to worry about in school? Once you hit the real world, theres no such thing as summer vacation and winter and spring breaks. There work, and more work and if your really good you can take a week off durring the year, but dont take more than that, or they'll get mad and fire you.

I think I have at least a slight case of anxiety. I'm always thinking of ways we're gonna crash if so-and-so car does this. If my Mom checks me outta school early and doesn't tell before-hand, thoughts of a close relative dieing or some kind of emergency race through my mind. This also makes horror movies have a lasting effect on me. Now, with all this thinking, do you think I haven't thought of more important things? Like, for instance, how hard the real life is gonna be? For awhile I was afraid of getting a car when I was older because of gas. Hell, I've contemplated for countless hours on where we go when we die and the point of life. And I've already mapped out my wanted lifestyle all the way till I die. I may not have as much responsibilities than other kids my age, but I obviously do my share of worrying. Yes, it's obvious that after the transition from college to the real world, my life will become more difficult. I think about this just about everyday. So why don't you stop the "you're so lucky you're young, you have no responsibilities" act, it's pretty unoriginal. I was mostly looking forward to tips for middle or high school. Or posts describing the dread others my age or close my age are facing because of school. If I want to hear a lecture about how hard the real life is, I'll go talk to my ISS teacher.

Enjoy the eighth grade, it's really the last carefree year of your life. High school can be pretty tough, social Darwinism at its worst. College years were definitely the best four years of my life where you really find yourself and figure out what you want to do with your life. The worst thing you can do is waste them with drugs and alcohol; if that ends up being the highlight of your highschool or college years, then that really would be a shame.

8=Hell
9=Starting to trust people again after hell
10-11=Awesome

For some reason people started to be real assholes to me in 8th grade despite the fact they'd been in school with me for 2 years. Oh well, it's in the past. And I'm going to be a senior. Oh, and I start September 1st.

Ugh, I think back about all the music people liked when I was in 8th grade and I want to puke. It was the height of the Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and N Sync craze, and 8th graders all want to be cool so they follow MTV blindly. And then, of course, were some of the "radical" people who were the diehard Blink 182 fans. Occasionally I'll hear one of those old songs by either of the above mentioned bands or other similar stuff (Vengaboys, bunch of others I can't think of right now) and laugh when I think how popular it used to be. Middle school rock, I call it.

It's important for older people to remind younger people that life will indeed be more difficult in their later years. This is simply because many young people today live in a huge fantasy-land where all responsibilities are on the shoulders of the parents. I used to think that going to school was the worst thing ever, but time sure has taught me a great deal. You'd be wise to listen to the older members as,honestly, it's all going to hit you all at once. It's a huge mindfuck.

So... how was the first day?

I wanna say it was terrible, but in the end it was an okay day. I was happy to see a lot of my friends when I first got there and I got a funny homeroom teacher. For the first hour in the classroom, he was going over the normal first-day stuff, the lights blinded me. I guess I wasn't used to those lights and was in the dark a lot during the summer. I started feeling sick right before we could actually go to one of our classes, so I went the bathroom where I commenced throwing up. I got back a little after they had dismissed so I rushed to my first class without telling my teacher I had thrown-up. I thought I was gonna be better, but ten minutes into my class, I started feeling bad again. I put my head down and tried to go to sleep. The teacher was really nice and it was the first day of school, so he didn't care that much that I was going to sleep. As long as I kept my head down, I felt okay. I eventually told him I needed to go to the office and that I had already thrown-up earlier. He told me that he'd said me at the end of class and that I could go to sleep. So I go back over to my desk and do just that. A fellow student wakes me up and I get up quick. I walk over to my teacher and he starts writing me a note to the office. I started to feel really sick, really fast as he was writing the note. I knew I had to get outta there quick, but I'm not a pushy guy, and I thought I could hold my throw-up long enough, so I didn't just run to the bathroom. I finally get the note and walk out the door. As I was doing this, I could feel my vomit coming up and I started to tilt my head upwards. But it was too late, I started throwing-up right outside his door. After getting most of it out, I ran to the bathroom and finished in the trash can in there. I then went to the office, but no one was home, so I had to stay the rest of the day. I felt better after that, I guess I got out whatever was making me feel bad. After all that, most people would call it a bad a day, but since I gotta catch up with friends, I'll call it okay.

So... how was the first day?

I was thinking and I remembered something. You actually do have to try in middle school, 'cause if you don't, they'll fail you and you'll stay back. A couple of my classmates are in 7th grade again.

Technically all you have to do is try to pass.

I have two books to read for English 4 H, one book to read for Physics, and 24 compositions to draw for my AP Art class. It's 8:45 right now. My first day is tomorrow bright and early at 8:00. I'm screwed.

I go back to college at Purdue University in two weeks. I'm somewhat glad to get back because most all my friends are there. My problem is that it will be my hardest semester yet.

Heh, I go back end of aug. and I will be a junior.

High School > middle school

Middle school is full of annoying people who are stuck up and stubborn. High school everyone is just kind of "Yeah whatever". At least at my school it's like this. Everyone is just OK, no "social supremacy" like middle school has. Then again I switched towns when I switched schools, so who knows. Anyway, I guarantee HS will be MUCH better than Middle School.
