We've all seen in the 360 forum how everyone is advised to keep their consoles in well ventilated areas. I can't speak for PS3 owners, but I know my Wii gets rather warm to the touch while the air behind the 360 can get rather warm.

For those of us who don't have the means to place our consoles in well-ventilated areas, what are we to do?

The Intercoolers void your warranty, and can do more damage than good. Laptop coolers don't do the job, and USB fans aren't blade-shielded.

So what's a gamer to do in a tight space? A small fan might work, but some of us don't have the room for that.

Discuss what you've seen or know that works well for the rest of us. I could put my consoles in a space with more air, but then they're subject to being terrorized by my children. I can't cut out the back of the bookcase, and a normal small fan won't fit.

Well, my house doesn't have central heating, as that's for the higher class. So I have the back end of a furnace/heater blowing in my room. All my consoles are spaced between each other to allow adequate breathing room. I really have no means of keeping my systems cool, unless I don't play them :/

If I could, I would create a tube running from my Air Conditioner to my room, to blow on the systems. Of course, that probably means more dust in my living quarters.

Are your consoles on a bookcase? With all the wires wrapped around it? Maybe you could stick it in a mini fridge, and raise the temperture above 20 degrees?

Yes, they are on a bookcase shelf. The TV sits on a very low platform in-between the two bookcases, and the first open shelf is the only place I have for them.

The USB fans that most places carry seem like the ideal solution, but I've not found any that have a screen or cage for the blades.
