Here's a "mainstream" article (ESPN.com) about how 3 bowls (National title game, Holiday Bowl, Alamo Bowl) are giving Wii's to all the players as part of the $500 gift allowance. It says each one secured 250 Wii's for this! So THAT is why they are so hard to find ;).

It pisses me off to think of those dirty Scum Devils (ASU) playing Wii's...

The interesting aspect of the article is how they make this out to be one of the best prizes (only better one is the $400 shopping spree at Best Buy - the one I'd want as well).

My brother got a PS1 when he played for Mississippi State. The players get all types of bad ass gifts, and I'm pretty sure they got more than $500.

The article says it was $300 max until 2005 when the NCAA bumped it to $500.
