Right now I listen to my music off my 360 hard drive when playing games. Could I free up the space on my hard drive and just stick the music on a USB memory stick and do the same thing? Wasn't sure if the 360 would allow me to play it off the memory stick while playing games. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you can do that. I use a flash drive to store my tunes that I listen to on my 360.

Works just the same, any music you can listen to on the dashboard you can in-game.

Thanks! This is good. Now I don't have to re-rip my CDs, or re-burn MP3s from my PC to CD just to get them on the 360. Now I can just dump onto the USB stick from my PC.

You can stream your music from your PC as well and cut out the middle man (USB flash stick) if you want. I used to use a USB stick but I wanted more music and didn't feel like switching the songs on it every few times.

But it took me about an hour to figure out how to do stream, I had to use tversity.

Then again, I am a dumbass with computer/technology stuff.

exactly what i was going to say.. if you can stream, that's the best way to do it.

Can I use Tversity to steam since I have Windows XP?

You can still use WMP if you use WMP version 11 I believe.

Though it never worked for me for some reason, I messed around with it for 2-3 days on and off with no success until I used tversity and I got that working pretty fast.

Streaming from your PC is cake....
The media center feature of the 360 owns... when my computer is done tasks, my 360 lets me know. Shit is bomb son. No lag due to the streaming either.

I highly recommend streaming from your pc. It's no work to set it up and saves all the hassle of moving music to the USB drive or your hard drive.

The only drawback to streaming is if you dont have a valid window's key, and cant install WMP11. If you do... NP whatso ever. Vista actually makes it EXTREMELY easy to setup. Lets you know when a media share compatible device is turned on.

I actually have a valid but academic version of XP and WMP11 was a pain, so I just use TVersity. You can even stream shoutcast playlists and listen to internet radio, but when I did it I think I overloaded my network with all the streaming.

I seriously dont understand what the problem is. Changing a tire, and finding the spot that is G is more difficult...

Yeah, definitely stream it if you can. Right now I'm using Vista with WMP11 and setting it up took maybe a minute tops... it works fantastic.

If you can't stream even on XP (if you have a pirated copy of Windows or something) then using a thumbdrive would work.

It used to be pure torture trying to get it to work prior to WMP11. They had a program called Windows Media Connect that didn't work for shit. I tried for months and gave up. Luckily WMP11 was released around that time.

Never found the 360. That was the problem.

Is there a way to stream without a router?

how would you connect your 360 and your computer? i suppose they can just connect directly to each other, but then neither of them will have internet access. unless they had wireless cards, but then you would already have a router. just use a router.

My DSL Moden has a USB and Ethernet port, 360 goes into Ethernet, USB goes into comp. When I was trying to follow this site : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/howto/mp11/Xbox360toWMP11XP_StepbyStep.aspx, I got the 360 to read on my computer so I think they are connected lol.

But er, I don't have Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 PC and the Microsoft site says I need it lol. Any ideas on what I can do?

not sure if you need WMP11 or if that's just video, but i use a program called tversity to stream things from my computer to the 360.

No, how else would the 360 pull the music files from your pc.
