I placed an online order for AC PS3 for in store p/u. They clerk said she couldnt add the $10 off coupon to the online order. I then asked her to cancel the online order. She told me what I already knew, that it would cancel by itself after a week or so.
She then let me pay for the same game in store and use the $10 off coupon. Just about $30 with tax.
I then grabbed another copy from the game section. They had 6+, I was surprised. I paid for that one via regular check out lines. I used another $10 coupon. Neither cashier had any hesitation when using the coupon.

btw, the second copy of AC was for a gift. not trying to make a buck.

I would stay away from Madden or any EA Sports games for the PS3. I've read nothing but bad things about them. Low res textures, sub 30FPS stuttering frame-rate, slow load times, etc..

Burnout Paradise seems to be the only EA game that (Should according to devs) run better on the PS3.

It's notably better on 360. But it's a pretty great game either way, just don't be in a rush to beat it or it sucks then. I strolled through the first 8-10 hours, and then rushed to finish and I got really frustrated instead of relaxing and enjoying it.

Actually, and upon further review: On the website Call of Duty 4 for Xbox 360 has FREE SHIPPING included with it but NOT PS3 version. Then, the opposite is true for Assassin's Creed. The Assassin's Creed for PS3 gets the FREE SHIPPING included but NOT the Xbox 360 version.

Sorry if I'm just dense but I was at BestBuy earlier today and picked up Call of Duty for Xbox 360 at $37.99. Assasins Creed was right next to it but was tagged at the regular retail price( COD had a sale price stiker on the shelf)of $59.99. I picked it up today for PS3, I like these kind of games, so I was optimistic. I have played it for about 30 minutes so far. It seems fun, lots of jumping around, decent story I guess. What kind of annoys me is how slow the game goes. So many cut scenes, characters just sitting around talking....makes me want to shoot myself.

SO to clarify, the $37.99 price IN STORE rang up BOTH games at the same price even though the store itself had ONLY put out the copies of COD 4 for the XBOX 360 and Assassin's Creed for the PS3 !

It was funny because the BIG SIGN they had ONLY listed the XBOX 360 version of COD 4 and the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed as being on sale at $22 off !

This was just like CheapyD's post mentioning ONLY the specific versions of each game.

THAT SAID, when you look at the back page of the circular, it actually does say XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 below all 4 games BUT the pictures of the games show the 360 version of COD 4 and MADDEN08 BUT SHOW the PS3 version of SIMPSONS and ASSASSIN'S CREED.

Point is, it was confusing but the fact that BB.com and the ACTUAL STORE REGISTER's ring the games up at $37.99 each (note: I had printouts from the BB.com website just in case I had to argue a price with someone) means that the price was ALWAYS intended for BOTH versions of ALL 4 of those titles !!

One last thing, My first coupon scanned fine but the second one wouldn't scan (maybe because my print out or scan was too grainy) but I shmmooozed the cashier into typing in the coupon code for me and it worked fine !! No hesitation ! Funny thing is the cashier CRUMPLED up the coupons and threw them away when he was done with 'em !! LOL !!

Both these games are awesome ! To those who are wondering if they should get Assassin's Creed, JUST GET IT ! At $37.99 or $27.99 after coupon this game is a visual TOUR DE FORCE MASTERPIECE and I definitely felt my fear of heights coming into play when climbing the tallest buildings due to the INCREDIBLE VISUALS on this game.

This is one game that SHOWS off your system ! That's for sure ! I think EVERYBODY should own this game, but what do I know !?? :roll:

What's the verdict on the PS3 AC? It's very tempting for $30 and the patch was supposed to fix most of the problems but if it still has slowdown I would rather get the 360 version.

Edit: After some more research, it seems that the patch is essentially worthless and this game is full of freezing problems for PS3. There is a thread with 78 pages on the AC forum at ubisoft.com with people complaining about the game. $30 is a great price but it doesn't seem to be worth the headaches.

But then, all you do is take your purchase and reciept right over to customer service and show them the ad (online or in your newspaper) and they will do a adjustment for 110% of the difference. But only if you go a pay FULL price 1st.

Just FYI... Same thing at Best Buy when you price match as well. I always pay full price, then walk my behind directly over to customer service to get the 110% ! :lol:

Yes. I bought them both at the same time on the same receipt.

To be safe, you could just use 1 coupon on each game and then ring it up. Then on your next purchase use one coupon for the next game and then ring it up.

I didn't want to wait in the huge line again though so I busted out two coupons to use for both games on 1 receipt !

My coupons were color though. Not sure about a black and white one but would probably work if you told him it was emailed to you and you didn;t have a color printer.

Also, look for a 'new' or 'younger' cashier. Look for TEMPORARY SEASONAL HELP or rookie cashiers (if there is such a thing or way to do that....Just trust your gut) THIS IS ALL JUST MY OPINION but lookout for a manager or someone who might give you a hard time. Funny thing is my guy was a young kid and he scanned the first coupon just fine. The second one would not scan and so I had to COACH him and tell him he could always just type the coupon in and he did that and it worked. He then crumpled up the coupons and threw 'em in the trash or down below his register.

Both games rang up $37.99 - $10.00 promo or $27.99 a piece all on 1 receipt.:D

I think it also helps when you go during a BUSY time because when there is BIG LINES or the store is busy, they just want people getting out of there ! LOL.. Less likely to fight you or complain on anything, at least thats what I think..

Just go buy a copy during this sale and keep it sealed and return it to the place where you bought your buddy's copy with your receipt from your buddys copy and you can still get the deal since you only paid retail for it last week !

I did that on CARS: Maternational for my kids. I bought it at Toys R Us for $49, then Amazon had a sale for $29 ! and so since my kids had already been playing the Toys R Us copy, I just returned my amazon copy still sealed with my Toys R Us receipt back to Toys R Us and got my money back ($49)

Obviously this only works as a 30 day price protection policy but since Toys R Us got back exactly what they sold me ( a sealed game) no harm no foul in my book.

IMO COD4 is the much better value if you have online capabilities. Assassin's Creed is amazing visually but the gameplay is repetitive and after you beat it there is close to no replay value (compounded by the shorter length of the game and repetitiveness).

I would say rent AC or borrow and buy COD 4.


Another fact to consider is that Assassin's Creed is selling very well, i'm sure in large part due to ubisofts incredible marketing. This means there will be a huge influx of used copies in a few months and inevitable used price drops due to it being a single player game.

I actually showed them the ad and she said that someone had come in earlier and the manager said that the price was only for the versions pictured. I pointed out that online they had both on sale so she checked. When she came back she said she was willing to change the price or let me use the coupon, but not both.

Typically when a sale goes across all platforms of a specific title, they note on the bottom of the pictured ad: "Also available on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, etc."

The ad only seems to show the PS3 and 360 logos for shoppers to distinguish between what a PS3 and 360 game look like.

I've heard AC is pretty much identical on PS3 vs. X360. I have the X360 version and it's great.

This is an awesome deal. I think I paid more or less full price for most of these very recently, so this is a healthy drop for all of you who've been on the fence. Simpson's game is definitely worth $35ish if you like the humor of the show.

Should be interesting to see if anybody can get a price adjustment at BB. Bringing in the actual ad might help, but in my experiene, BB can be real jerks about that kind of stuff.

Other than the fact that the "Playstation 3" and "Xbox 360" are under the representative games, the box around the games implies that they are all on sale for both systems. If I try for a price adjustment and they deny it, I'll be shouting "Shenanigans!"

I got CoD4 for 27.99 today. Had ordered online for in-store pickup on Tuesday, and despite getting a "ready for pick-up confirmation email", the game wasn't in the back, so the guy had to walk around and find one.

10 bucks off right there, just because it wasn't ready for pickup. Second time this year I've gotten compensation for in-store pick up (the other a 24 dollar giftcard at CC) goof-ups, and man-oh-man if 27.99 ain't a sweet price for one of the best rated games of all time.

Just got back from BB, picked up Assassin's Creed (360) for 37.99- the actual price of the 360 version is supposed to be 60 bucks, you simply have to convince the cashier that 37 is the correct price.

Try to get an inexperienced cashier, and try to get rung up when a manager is not present- shouldn't be difficult today, your local best buy is probably packed.

The override requires a manager's code, but some of the cashiers know it..and will enter the code for the others without even looking because they are so busy. That what happened for me, anyways

Dont bother printing out the online ad, there should be thousands of the weekly ad in the store and those are probably more convincing.

Just got back from my trip to BB. No go on AC for the 360 for $38. the floor clerk said it was on sale, but the cashier wouldn't do it. So I went for COD 4. But, they wouldn't take the $10 off $29.99 coupon. I got the game and a CD for $2.02 out of pocket.

Back from BB, of course, no luck with AC 360. It's hard to argue when it's clearly in black and white that only the PS3 is labeled $37. Seriously, though, if you look at the advertisement, it shows both the 360 and PS3 logo encased in the little ad box. This is borderline bait n' switch tactic, and I'm not even joking.

I've heard, although I haven't witnessed personally, that there are glitches in the PS3 version. Someone else might want to confirm/deny this though. It should be fixable with a patch? Plus, GAMERSCORE

Grabbed COD4 & Assassins Creed both for PS3 and both for $27.99 each. Cal of Duty 4 rang up as $59.99 but after I showed the ad the cashier adjusted the price with the help of a manager. They were having some problems getting the coupon (that I printed) to actually reflect the price on screen so they just adjusted the price of one of them by $10. Then when the guy hit total it adjusted the other game with the coupon. Both games for less than the price of one normally sure is a deal.

Ive never had a problem. There isnt any major difference between the two versions. Gamespot has said that the framerate is better on the PS3 but IGN said its better on the 360. Both were plagued with bugs when it was first released. It was worse on the PS3 but it has since been patched and it runs fine now. If you cant decide which to get, its a matter of which controller you prefer and achievements on the 360. Thats about it as far as real differences go

It was for both at the beginning of the sale. Now AC is $37.99 only for the PS3 version. Maybe you can get lucky and get them to lower the price to $37.99 for the 360 version in the store.

I had an excellent trip to Best Buy today. I ordered Stranglehold CE for in store pickup for 39.99. When I went there, I saw one on the shelf so I grabbed that one and brought it to the register. I figured it'd be a lot easier to use the $10 ps3 coupon that way. So I scored that for $32.
Then I called my buddy and asked him if he wanted a copy. He said sure, so I scanned the racks and couldn't find anymore. I went to the dreaded in store pickup. I handed the lady the e-mail, credit card & license. After 10 minutes of running around she didn't find anything. I then asked for a manager. After another 20 minutes of them searching for the game she offered me a $30 gift card. This must have been the nicest manager ever. Her logic was I could order the game online for $20 more and she included another $10 for shipping. I was stoked. Then I see her coming back with the game in her hand. I put a fake smile on my face and acted all happy. She said she was gonna still give me the gift card because she already rang it up. At this point I wasn't even going to bring up the $10 coupon. I took everything and bailed.
Later in the day I went to another Best Buy that I passed by. To my amazement there was no line for customer service. I asked the guy if I could return & rebuy Stranglehold with the coupon. He said no problem. I paid with the $30 gift card & scored myself a free copy of Stranglehold CE (well $2 for tax).
Sorry for rambling, but this was probably the best experience I've ever had at one of these type of places or probably any store for that matter.

Yeah they patched most opf the problems with AC on the PS3. When you start it up it will download a patch to play it.
