Got a glimpse at an upcoming ad. Looks like we are going to start carrying Bluray movies now. To kick it off there was a buy one get one free. I didnt look at it to extensively so I will get back with details if there are any.

*Update 1-4*

Ok it looks like all the movies will be 24.99.
Not bad for a buy one get one sale huh.

*Update 12-27*

Final List

Ok, it appears there is only going to be a selection of movies.

Open Season
Bridge to Teribithia
Casino Royale
Pirates 1
Pirates 2
Pirates 3
Meet the Robinsons
High School Musical 2
Cars
Ratatouille

I couldnt remember all of them but i will get a definitive list tomorrow.

I'm not too familiar with TRU's DVD selections, is this mostly going to be family/PG type stuff, or do they carry R-rated titles etc?

chunkay
12-23-2007, 10:53 PM
They carry a good amount of tv shows that can be rated up to 14 but movies there are no rated r only g to pg-13, but Im guessing that a lot of the blu rays on sale would be the animated movies and pirates. Pretty good imo though if you can get those movies

I've only seen Blu-Ray online for Toys R Us, but the selection so far is very very very limited and the titles look like this -- High School Musical 2, Meet the Robinsons, The Simpsons Movie, TMNT, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, etc. The online prices are also on the Borders/Barnes & Noble side of things.

Ratatouille and Cars are $19.99 on Amazon right now.

They're in there, they just don't have Bluray in the title. There's a bluray sub catagory now too, I looked it up the other day. I pulled one of the SKN's off the website and it came up in SIS, but it doesn't give any indication in the description that it's bluray, other than the price.

The way to get Cars cheap was to buy it the day it came out, send away for the exclusive diecast car that comes with purchase of the Blu-Ray (plus like 5 shipping) and then sell that sucker on ebay for $60. That's what I did...dunno if the Cars are all given away yet tho, there's a limit of like 15,000.

I would be interested in Meet the Robinsons and Cars. Couldn't find Cars Blu-ray on TRU site but I found Robinson's at $34.99. If Cars is priced at that amount this offer isn't too tempting. After BOGO and tax it is only $2.15 less than Amazon's regular price for these two Blu-ray titles.

If BB and CC can't get below $30 on most titles, theren's no way TRU can get much lower. It's basically to get impulse shoppers to take some of their merch of their hands.

Its basically a Disney promotion. As I stated most movies we did not receive a whole lot of. My store also only got 3 Casino Royale. We have already set our endcap in the R-Zone too, so if anyone wanted to get these movies I would see if your local TRU put them out already. Buy them then price adjust come Sunday.

Again the movies are buy one get one free. An incorrect sign was sent to stores that states buy on get one half of but it is incorrect. All the movies are 24.99. Meet the Robinsons was incorrectly labeled at my store for 26.99 but it rings up 24.99.

YMMV on that.. Technically, you buy one and get the other one "free". So you are really buying "one" movie. It makes no sense to use another coupon to take another $5 off the free movie.

Anyways, I got Cars and Meet the Robinsons for 24.99 - 5.00 (Disney Coupon) = 19.99 + tax

Everything at my TRU was $24.99 except Meet the Robinson's, which was $26.99 for some reason. It may have been priced wrong and ring up at $25 though. I thought it was weird that it was the only one priced differently.

I just got back from TRU (Columbus, OH) with the following for $43.36 with tax out the door....

Pirates 3 (At World's End)
Meet the Robinsons
Cars
Ratatouille

I did two DVDs on one transaction and then the other two on a second transaction as I had two of the $5.00 off Disney Blu-Ray coupons...

My TRU didn't have any movies besides one copy of Casino Royale and 3 copies of open season - they gave me a rain check for Pirates 1 and Ratatoullie, however.

I didn't walk away empty handed, though - they had one CE copy of Oblivion hanging out in the back, but not marked as clearance. Game came up at $15, though - so I figured it was worth picking up.

I bought:
Pirates 3: At World's End
Bridge to Teribithia
Meet the Robinson's
Cars

I used a $10 Pirates Coupon and 2x$5 Disney coupons to get out the door for $30 plus tax :)

It was such a great deal I went back in and got the following for my Father-in-law:
Pirates 1
Pirates 2
Pirates 3
Meet the Robinson's

I used 2 more $5 coupons and got those for $40 plus tax.

Best B&M deal I've seen in a long time! Thanks OP!

I got there just a little after they opened. Got one of their 2 copies of Casino Royale and 1 of 2 of their Pirates 3. I saw 5-10 copies of Ratatouille.

They basically had 2-3 copies of everything except Ratatouille which they were overflowing with.

This was at the smaller of the two Chattanooga, TN stores.

Inside MOST (but not all) of the Pirates 3 Regular DVD. I'm not sure if the one disk has it, but the 2-disk usually does. I've read you can identify which ones have it by whether or not there is some advertisement sticker on the front of the package. (Might be travelocity but I can't remember).

It came only with the 2-Disc SD version I think, but there are scan of it floating around just search on Slick Deals for it.

I'm def getting POTC 2 & 3 now! Today I got Cars & Ratatouille for $14.23 using my discount and two $5 off coupons. Note: A cashier can scan a coupon twice and not have to override the second scan. So technically you can bring one coupon for multiple disney movies, but it's YMMV if your cashier will allow it.

Is that coupon supposed to be printed offline (like when you register the movie on DisneyMovieRewards.com (http://slickdeals.net/?sduid=161898&t=709358&u2=http://DisneyMovieRewards.com)) or is it just they printed it and you allowed it?

That was my experience, I think if I went any other day than yesterday I would have missed out at the local TRU. They literally had maybe half a dozen trays to fill with discs on their display case, but they had to spread out all the discs so that the display looked respectable from a distance. I think there was max one or two discs in each, half of which were PotC:AWE, and one Ratatoille.

I found it a bit disappointing that they made such a large ad in their flyers but had close to no stock to support the sale.

My TRU, doesnt even carry BR moviesDid you ask someone to help you? Cause they might be in a place you might not expect.

I went to Toys R Us on Sunday but they said they didn't get theirs in yet. I called up this morning (Monday) and they said they had some. So I went there, walked to their movie section and was surprised to find none there. I found someone in another section and asked what the deal was. She went and asked her manager where the Blu-rays where and reported back to me that they were in the video game section next to the DS games (huh?). I'm not sure why they are next to the DS games (with the PS3 games being on the other side of the video game section), but that's where they were.

So could someone clarify something for me...do we have to use 2 $5 off coupons in a transaction of 2 Blu-Ray movies....and in a transaction for 4 Blu-Ray movies, including Pirates:AWE, we use the 2 $5 off coupons and the $10 off Pirates for maximum effect? Am I getting that correctly? If you are only buying two movies, I don't believe using two of those $5 coupons will work. I don't believe they allow you to use two of those $5 coupons for the same Blu-ray and the second Blu-ray in the BOGO deal actually rings up as $0.00, so you obviously can't take $5 off of that.

Though if you are doing two $5 coupons for 4 movies (Movie A minus $5, get Movie B free, Movie C minus $5, get movie D free) I'd imagine that would work.

And using the $10 coupon and a $5 coupon on the same movie will work (did it today).

(Hopefully that wasn't too confusing. Seems really confusing to me as I'm tying it up, lol.)

As I stated in the post below I used the $10 POTC coupon, and 2 $5 coupons. If you bought 3 or 4 disney movies you probably could of gotten away with it if the person didnt care but I think that might be pushing it.

Thanks OP and other who posted coupons, I just tripled my Bluray collection.

I went by today at 10am(opening) and got:

Casino Roayle
POTC3 AWE
CARS
RATAT...

For alittle less than $35 w/ tax.
I used the $10 Pirates coupon, and 2 disney $5 coupons, the store had just opened the lady wasn't even caring just scaning away.

I also got 3 Bongo Drums FREE from some disney jungle book promo, one with purchase of a disney DVD. (IDK what this is I guess YMMV)

They had everything on the list with atleast 3+ of them.

Now I plan on getting all three POTC movies, so I'm going back on Friday and getting POTC 1 & 3, so I can get those for less than 5 bucks. I went to get Pirates 3, Rat, Cars, and MtR. Had all four and tried to use two coupons, the guy had to get his supervisor and she asked the manager, it was a no-go. I then told them these were legit coupons and who should I call to get the authorization. She went back to the manager and they allowed me to use it but said I could only use one coupon. I then asked if I could do two transaction, she then went back to the manager and they finally agreed to let me use them. Took awhile but I got 4 movies for a little over $43.28. Persistence paid off and I was never rude. I'm happy with my deal, don't know what dumbass you guys ran into that allow multiple coupons, I have no luck finding absolute morons.

I went in to the Toys R Us near me and the guy said "I only got one box in and I'm not sure if I'm gonna get more by the time the sale is over"... yippy. So I went over to best buy and they were 1 Pirate movie short of what I want (pirates 1-3 and casino royale) so I didn't getting anything. I instead went over to CC where I work and actually found one of the last copies of At World's End. I thought I was all set until I couldn't get a price adjust with a bogo... So the CC price of $29.99 per movie would have to stand but I'd get the 4 movies for $60... still not 4 for $40! The problem with CC is that we can't price match the TRU price of $24.99 a movie and combine that with a competitors BOGO. And you can completely forget about using the $5 off coupon at CC with price match/bogo.

Also the Toys R Us near me didn't have Casino Royale and weren't sure if they were getting anymore in because they said they had recieved some only because of "some promotion"... I'm going to a second Best Buy near me now that has the movies I want so we'll see how it turns out with the coupon and price matching stuff. It is really retarded that TRU doesn't list the price of the Blu-ray's in their ad! That makes price matching a lot harder!

Why dont you print out the homepage of the Disney $5 coupon? Show them that its from Disney and inorder to get the coupon, you had to print it out from the web considering it says "DOWNLOAD/PRINT FOR COUPON" (or whatever it said).

I had 4 $5 coupons and when the cashier saw it...she scanned the first $5 and it worked. When she saw the second one..she said "this one too?". I said "yep" and she scanned and it took another $5 off.

Most retail stores (especially chains) have their company's coupon reimbursement program fully in place, they'd be foolish not to. Those coupons are like to cash to stores that receive them and you don't exactly see ToysRUs handing out $5 and $10 bills do you?

Price matching at BB or any other stores is a HUGE YMMV. Reason being is that the BOGO isnt a price match. Its a promotional offer. But pricing down to $24.99 is doable but giving the BOGO is YMMV.

TWO BLURAYS.... $1.50... How Slick is that?!?

I must have gotten the best deal ever...

So I went to the Novi, MI TRU.
After finding the BluRay section I grabbed a copy of POTC3, and the last copy of Casino Royale.

Here is how everything went from there out:
I walked up the guy working and pulled out the coupons.
I said, "I'm not sure if this is going to work, but hopefully we can try."
His manager was there... She looked at the coupons and said, try it.

I started talking to the guy about POTC... he said he never had seen them.
I give a quick review of the movies, and talk about how f'n hot Keira Knightley is, while he tries to ring up the coupons.
I may have been distracting him a bit because he was having a hard time getting the $10 POTC AWE coupon to scan.
He eventually gets it to scan after about 3 attempt and he also gets the $5 coupon to work as well.

Then he says, and I quote... "Wow... Do you know how good of a F'N deal you just got?"
Bewildered I say... "Yes... I think"

Salesman: "Your total is $1.50"

I've never walked out of a store faster. All I got charged for was Tax.
Somehow he scanned the $10 coupon twice and it actually worked both times.

Casino Royale $0 BoGo
POTC3 AWE $24.99
Vendor Coupon -$10
Vendor Coupon -$10
Vendor Coupon -$4.99
Tax $1.50
Total $1.50

In my case for the BB pm - I found and bought Rat and Bridge at TRU, then called their other store for Pirates 1-3 and Cars (the other store agreed to hold one of each). I then went to BB just across the street from the first (TRU) with the flyer and my receipt.
BB easily pm'd the other 4 movies and accepted the coupons for each.

If anyone wants any of these TRU movies and has any minty blu Disney's to trade, I'll go back and pick up extra copies just pm me about what you have and what you want.

Tax $1.50
Total $1.50
NICEEEEEE!!!!

I personally couldn't bring my conscience to use the scan of the $10 off Pirates:AWE upgrade coupon. I'm still satisfied given that I went to a TRU that recently re-stocked everything. For whatever reason Casino Royale was not stocked in the sale display but outside of the R Zone near the other movies.

Well, considering how great of a deal it is and how the future looks Blu, I picked up Ratatouille and Cars, the clerk scanned the $5 off coupon twice by accident, saw that it went through twice and said "thats weird" and "oh well $10 off", so I got both movies for $16.xx

I usually just say Email from (Company). Or I just talked with the girl and told her that "disney reward site" is REALLY cool, they send you these coupons and stuff.. etc.

I felt like a traitor when I made my purchase

No PS3 yet...I might start looking in February after I get my tax refund. Because of my son I should be getting hooked up with a nice amount this year ;)

Called my local TRU and asked if they would set aside Casino Royale and POTC: DMC. They said they don't do that. Not happy about it, but I hoped they had what I wanted. Got there later that day and got the last copy of Casino Royale as well as my POTC.

Going back there tomorrow to pick Ratatouille and Cars.

From reading the first page and this last page, it seems there is more to this deal than what is in the OP. Can someone please summarize pages 2-12?

Get the $5 Off Disney Movies coupon from here:

Some users have reported being able to purchase 2 Disney titles and use 2 coupons, so you get $10 off on top of the B1G1...Seems to be YMMV though, even using one is YMMV since some stores refuse to acept printed coupons, though printing the front page (http://dvd.disneyemailcenter.com/functions/message_view.html?mid=1521370&mlid=72002&siteid=13493&uid=ccf4e8ecba) and taking it with you might help.

If you plan on getting Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End you could try to use this $10 Off Coupon instead or along with the $5 coupon above if getting another Disney BR (YMMV):

Also, if you're buying Cars, you can get this exclusive Blue Lightning McQueen (http://disney.eprize.net/movierewards/index.tbapp?page=offer_cars&lid=dmr_promo+box_cars) car for free + $3.50 shipping. And if you already own the movie on DVD, you can get a $10 MIR (http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/bluray/?EMC-disblu1221) for upgrading to Blu-Ray

That's it in a nutshell, hope it helps.
