Yeah I like to use the keep it sometimes when I have bonus dollars since I already have the disc and know the exact condition. I rented an older ps2 game once and i swore the disc had been through a war. I'm considering Forza 2 though since I played if for a week and liked it but don't know if its worth keeping.

Just for the record, I have been a member of Gamefly for a year now. I have bought about 5 games from them. All have been in excellent condition. The case and manual looked brand new. I don't know I rented Heavenly Sword at the beginning of December and it was like brand new (the disc).

I think there's variables. The older the game, the more of a chance its beat up. The more wanted the game, the bigger chance its beat up. Then you have to look at the system. PS2 games have the highest chance probably of being beat up because its install base is the largest and has likely the most rentals. Now switch that over to the 360 and I believe they have the most rentals probably on GF, so the 360 discs out of the new-generation probably have a higher chance of being beaten up. Then look at that install base, PS2 owners range all over the map, there's also a lot of younger 360 users. The PS3 probably has the oldest install base, so it's more than likely PS3 games will be in better condition on average than any other platform on there.

I think you have to buy them one-by-one. When I hit buy (while logged in) it automatically purchased the game, rather than confirm shipping/billing screen which is how most online stores work.

Odin Sphere is my personal PS2 GOTY--beautiful art style, solid gameplay, and one of the most unique stories (as well as unique means of telling a story) in years... Upscaled on the PS3, it's one of the best looking 2d games ever, IMO.

Some nice deals there really. Since I needed to expand my Xbox 360 collection anyway, I picked up Bullet Witch, Spiderman 3, Armored Core 4, and since I missed out on it in BOTH of CC's sales, Call of Juarez. All rather distinctly average games really (except for CoJ which was well received), but I've actually gotten some enjoyment from the generic action games like those, so I'll give it a try.

Haven't played any of the Spiderman movie games, so I figure I'll be able to put up with Spiderman 3 since it's supposed to be a lot like 2, and I thought the demo of Armored Core 4 was pretty decent. Bullet Witch...ehh, looks like a poor man's Devil May Cry, but I'll give it a shot since the spells are supposed to be pretty cool and the basic gunplay looks fun enough (even if the AI and enemies are supposed to be pretty lackluster).

Although after playing the demo, I think I'll return Superman Returns that I had gotten from Target for $10. I really can't see myself putting up with that game for long if the flying is really the most entertaining part of the game. The games I'm getting from Gamefly sound repetative too, but Superman Returns just felt clunky and stale.

Just bought Two Worlds. I hope it's decent. I'm sick of people comparing it to Oblivion just like they compared Gothic II to Morrowind. Just because it's a fantasy action rpg doesn't mean it's going for the same kind of gameplay that the Elder Scrolls is going for.

Anywho, I didn't think that the DS titles were that marked down compared to the 360 games which were much cheaper in general. I suppose it's because the DS prints money and all.

DS and GBA games tend to hold their value. I was initially shocked when I bought a DS and had to spend over $15 for a good game (I'd been buying a lot of cheapo Xbox titles at the time).

I was going to say portable games, but I don't follow the PSP at all, so I can't really comment.

I think it's PSP games, too. Portable games in general never go down in price. They seem to disappear from store shelves faster, so that's probably why.

Anybody know why Gamefly charges sales tax for sales from states where they have no physical presence? According to Wikipedia they have warehouses in California, Flordia, and Pennsylvania. I live in Arkansas and they always charge sales tax.

Now with these prices and free shipping they're still lower than everybody else, it just seems weird. No tax is a big advantage for online retailers and they usually go to great lengths to avoid having to charge it.

Well I havent gotten it yet so I can't realy agree with them, but from what I've seen the combat system is what I wanted the first Bushido Blade to be closer to. There is more contact and push pull with the swords, parries etc rather than just block button.

If you're a fighting game/martial arts nerd and are constantly looking for the evolution of these, then this is a pretty cool step on the way and for that price, can't complain

Contact them and tell them your issue. For me personally they are notorious for sending me broken cases after I buy the game. Use the contact button and just say you received the case and it was broken. As for the other issue, sounds wierd but I'd go ahead and mention that too.

Case/cover look great. Game is a little beat up, naturally, but no deep scratches - just surface scratches. Nothing that looks like it'll have an effect on the playability.

I can't imagine this game rented well considering how badly it got panned and when it released. Sounds like you might have lucked out and got a brand new copy. GF probably bought a bunch and then when the reviews started hitting realized they had too many, no wonder its down to 9.99 used already.

The Darkness came, took about a week, but I've got to say the condition is perfect. The case and manual are flawless and looks brand new, it even had the protective sticker over the case opening. The disc itself has a few minor scratches but it looks nothing short of what you'd expect from a used game. I'll try it out soon but I'm pretty sure it's going to work.

I ordered one game a week ago and prceeded to get a flurry of emails about my "Membership" requiring the proper Zip+4 zip. I gave them a normal five digit zip like I give every other online vendor. They sent me an email saying I had to go to the USPS site to figure out the right Zip+4 myself and email them back. Of course, every correspondence with them has a two day lag. Finally, after making me do all the work, my "Membership" is active (I just ordered a game...) and my order status stands as "To be Bought" (whatever that means...)

I had a similar experience with their address validator. I live in an apartment complex with 3 units, and when I ordered a game, the validator stripped the apartment number from my address. I tried re-enter the address several times, and it wouldn't let me include the apartment number. I finally had to email them and have them fix it from their end.

To offer a contrary opinion, I finally booted up Two Worlds last night... and have already put a good four or five hours into it. The core RPG elements are great IMO, and I love being able to stack weapons. It almost feels like a traditional hack and slash transposed into an Oblivion style world. If you're the type who enjoys hunting for loot in RPGs and can overlook some technical short comings (which really don't seem that bad to me... but maybe that's because I'm coming fresh off of Mass Effect), there's a very enjoyable game to be found here.

My order of seven games supposedly shipped on 12/26/07, and I've not seen it yet. Coming from the LA Warehouse, from the email I was sent.

I've emailed them and asked for shipping information from my order.

I just received my order, which shipped 12/26/07, yesterday.Their service is way too slow for me, and that is why I canx my membership in its trial phase. 8-10 days to receive a game from them + 8-10 days for them to receive a game from me was not worth my money. BTW the game I purchased came with a crused game case (broke the CD spindle area that holds the game). Their packaging leaves a lot to be desired.

I love Bullet Witch and quite a few out of the 'norm' and considered "good" games. It just all felt really clumsy to me and couldn't help thinking I could be playing something much better.


Out of curiosity, how long did you play before you gave up? I was only mildly enjoying it for the first two and a half hours, but then it finally clicked and am now actually addicted to the darn thing :(

The first of my five just arrived and... when they said "includes box and manual" they meant ANY box and manual? I probably wouldn't have bought this copy of The Darkness if I knew it was coming in a Two Worlds case with an unrelated manual.

I know it was only ten bucks, but do I have a right to complain to GameFly? God forbid I actually get the materials that correspond to the game I ordered.

Well thanks for making me feel totally ball-less. I thought I heard a few claims of the same on this here board, and I'm assuming that as, with most sales of this nature... "all sales are final" blah, blah, blah.

Any one had any success dealing with these Gamefly knuckleheads on the issue?

Anyone get their copy of Odin Sphere yet? It looked like a good disc. I put it in and it makes my ps2 click like the beginnings of a DRE error. I put in ICO to check and it and ICO plays fine. I tried the toothpaste trick to try to fix the straches but that didn't work. Anyone think I'd be able to return it and get another copy?
