Why does the 360 disconnect from LIVE when I enter a game?

that's a good question, i'm not positive on that, probably just signs you off to start the game in a defaulted state so it can automatically check for updates to apply before signing you back in, that's the only real reason i could see but maybe someone else could shed some more light on the situation.

I'd bet it has something to do with their netcode and the way it switches to a game's main servers.

But who really knows.

is it a recent problem? because live has been having some issues lately

i don't think so it always does it to me too, if my 360 launches on the dashboard and i go to play a game, upon initial loading of the game it says i just disconnected from live, then once the game is loaded, i am reconnected.
