xbox Live Registration Problems

My kids got Xbox Live for X-Mas. When I go to join I get an error message that says "Due to Account Restrictions on this console, you cannot create a new account. You must use an existing account provided to you by your service provider" Has anyone gotten a similar error. MS support has been no help.:cry:

Did you put family settings on because if you did you might need to use a password or somthing to make a new account. and if worse comes to worse you can always format ( delete ) everything on your Hard drive
