Do you have to be online to achieve Achievements?

In other words, do you have to be online for the achievement points to be recorded? I was thinking about playing some games offline since Live is down, but if I achieve something offline I want to make sure it will be recorded to my profile we I go back online.

Yes, but it just says "achieved" instead of "Achieved on xx/xx/xx"
