Today is my birthday, yipee!

I get to celebrate my birthday with the knowledge that thousands of Japanesse died in the blast of the Hiroshima bomb 59 years ago on this very day. Would you consider that some kind of Omen for my life?

Sure is, you will no doubt suffer an agonizing death.

I agree completely. Painful, slow, un-fun, death.

Your life shall live in misery, hopefully suffocating, may you die painfully on this date in the year 2045, and be then that may you remorse to live!! [/harsh offensive sarcasm]

I guess it sucks to be born on September 11th though. :?

Today, yes. But in 15 years, it's going to suck as much as having a birthday on December 7th. And I'm willing to bet many people don't even know what happened on that day.

My mother's birthday is December 7th. Only way I could ever remember Pearl Harbor Day.

Obviously you haven't grown up watching The Time Tunnel. One of the episodes has the time travelers land at the Japanese consulate a day before the Pearl Harbor attack, and one of them gets to meet himself as a kid.

Back to the subject,
you share a birthday with Geri "Ginger" Halliwell, Soleil Moon Frye, M. Night Shyamalan, Michelle Yeoh, and Asia Carrera. Was being born on that day some omen for their lives?

No. There are 365 days in the year and lots more bad things have happened over the course of human history. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find tragic events to mark every day of the year...

If you look hard enough you'll find that something awful happened for every day of the year.

On my July 28th birthday falls the anniversary of the most deadly earthquake on record. Almost a quarter million people killed in China in 1976. But it's also the day the 14th Amendment was adopted and that 'Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein' opened in theaters. It's the day the Bonus Army got chased out of Washington DC by the US Army, for those of you who really know US history. By far the worst disaster on the day that would later mark my illustrious birth was that in 1945 the US Senate appproved the United Nations charter, somthing that has been a snowballing disaster ever since.

It's also the day Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Wollstonecroft Godwin eloped to France, leading up to her writing one of the most influential novels of modern times, 'Frankenstein.'

I've even come across eyebrow raising events in fiction. One SF novel in which an atom bomb test led to the create of a new human sub-species had that test take place on July 28. Wheee!

THere are numerous sites online that will let you see how awful your birthday has been for humankind. For instance:

Also Andy Warhol and Lucille Ball as well as some less familiar names:

My mom shared a birthday with Hitler and Napolean but she's a sweetheart. It's only an omen if you believe it is.

Well, Lucille Ball was born before WWII, so it couldn't have been an omen for her.

On July 4th, a sick, sick 10 year old will shove an M-80 with a slow-burning wick up a rabbit's butt, light it, then let it go. He will hop over to you and as you bend down to pet it, the M-80 will ignite, blowing one of your hands into a bloody pulp.

Year's later you will accidently drop your prostetic limb out of your apartment window while having a heart attack. With only one functioning limb, you will be unable to open the child-proof top of your pills and die.

No, most days in history now have a massacre of some sort that happened on them, you simply need to go back far enough.

I'd consider it a stigma if you were born on April fools.
