GameLiquidation.com has marked down the prices on all NGPC games. It's actually been that way for a while, but it hasn't been mentioned here.
Dark Arms and Metal Slug First Mission are both $10.50.
Card Fighter's Clash (both versions), King of Fighters R2, and Sonic Adventure are $11.50.
And the much ballyhooed Faselei is $18.50.
Games are cart only (with the plastic cover). Shipping is free. Plus you can use the 15OFFNEONOW code to get another 15% off.

will they ship you a specific color if you request it? I'd like to get one, but I really only want one in anthracite.

If you're getting Card Fighter's Clash, get ready to kiss your GBA goodbye for a while. I loved that game so much I bought both versions, got a second NGPC, and ordered a link cable from Lik-Sang so I could get the handful of 'trade only' cards.

I don't think so. If you want a specific color, you'll probably have to shell out the $30 to Amazon.

you da man 8)
I remembered your post when I hit a local EB Games today, picked up a silver NGPC w/ the six games for $40. the four-game pack was another $15 (!!!) so I bought that as well. btw, the four-game pack I found has different games than either of the ones listed on gameliquidation.com.
the games are:
Last Blade
Sonic: Pocket Adventure
Puzzle Bobble Mini
SNK Vs. Capcom: Match of the Millenium
so, for a "whopping" $55 + tax, I got a brand new NGPC and ten games. I love this site :D
EDIT:
does anyone know if (or where) I can get a carrying case for this, and maybe some first party accessories (AC adapter, etc)?

I got an exclusive code via the Slightlydark message board, not sure if it still works or if it's any good, but it's for "15% off + free domestic USA shipping", probably the same as the other coupon i imagine. Anyhow, if the other one doesn't work you can give this one a try: slightlydark15

GameLiquidators has the third party AC Adapter, Lik-Sang has the link cable. I've never seen first party accessories for the NGPC.
And if/when you get ready to sell/trade that Sonic game, drop me a PM.

Anyone know if these come with box/instructions? Cause a lot of the supposed "English" versions come cart only and are bootlegs...

almost every NGPC game I've ever seen is cart-only, no box or instructions. I'm thinking this means some of these are actually bootlegs, but I can't find anything to back up that feeling. I see systems w/ boxes on eBay, but almost no games have them... it's strange.

I think that when SNK stopped making the system and games, many stores sold their stock to liquidators (not necessarily Game Liquidators). The games and system were then stripped of boxes and manuals to be sold in those blister packs you see now. Bootleggers likely would not go through the trouble of putting their wares in a blister pack.
It's also why you see most carts coming as cart only. Though I believe Defender has some sealed NGPC games at www.videogamedeals.com . I bought Bio Motor Unitron from there and it came sealed. NGPC game boxes are a little unusual...they open up like a book. Note that you'll pay a lot more just to have that box and manual.

will this pocket system play the japanese games

I believe there is no territory lockout on NGPC systems. So JPN games work on US systems, and vice versa.

will this pocket system play the japanese games
Yes it will, certain games will even be translated, much like the AES system.
I can say this with 100% certainty as I own an American NGPC with a Japanese Baseball Stars Pocket cart and it plays in english. (the screen shots of the game on the back of the box show the game's text as Japanese)

I don't think Faselei does 'cause I've seen quite a few translation FAQS for it. This doesn't NECESSARILY mean it doesn't, but I'd be cautious.

thanks guys i have been eyeing this system for a while but more so eyeing the AES system. Some on ebay are around 500 but others are around 50. I don't know much about this system. Do the jpn imports consoles of these need a converter to be played here? How many versions were there? Anyone know alot about this system and can educate me cause i don't wanna get ripped off. I think i know enough about the ngpc to not get ripped off now but the aes i don't. Which version of the ngpc is the best to get also.

there's a lot of info available at:
www.neo-geo.com
I'm new to the Neo Geo scene, so I've been checking out the AES info as well. might be easier and cheaper to turn an MVS PCB into a home system, based on what I've read thus far.

if you're looking into buying AES carts, from what I've read, it's a crapshoot. even if you open the thing up and check the parts, you won't necessarily know if it's legit. go through the FAQ on that site, it's rather eye-opening.

All carts (US, EU, JP) will play on all systems. However if you play a US game on a Japanese AES system all of your text will be in Japanese.
Neo-Geo.com sells a bios chip that allows you to tell the console wether to think its EU, US, or JP and AES or MVS
MVS is the name of the arcade system. The carts are different for MVS & AES, but, with a few exceptions, they contain the same info. There is a converter to play MVS carts on an AES system. It's called the phantom 1 and it's not cheap (about $250, I think). The advantage to an MVS cart is that they are usually cheaper. Metal Slug AES is worth thousands, as someone already said. However a Metal Slug MVS cart is worth a couple hundred I think.
Your best bet for Neo-Geo info is Neo-Geo.com - however be cautious of the message board there. Lots, & lots of trolling, so take what is said on there (the message board) with a grain of salt. Also don't hesitate to order from neo-geo.com, I've done so a few times with no problem whatsoever. They are the offical US distributor of Neo-Geo merchendise.

oo crap just reading this i want an AES system with a UNVIVERSE BIOS i wonder how much that would cost. It lets you check to see if your games are bootlegged and can switch from jpn uk and us plus a bunch more.

It takes some SERIOUS skills. My roommate installed mine & it took us about 2 evenings. There is two methods of installation, both can seriosly damage your system if not done right. One method involves de-soldering the current bios chip from the board and resoldering the new bios. The second, more complicated method is to piggy back the new bios over the old. If your willing to spend the $$ get a premodded Neo-Geo, with the S-video & Stereo upgrades already installed. They are all over ebay, so check there.

thanks im eyeing an ebay auction right now. Looks as though most go for close to the range of 300-500. Does this sound right? I'm also thinking of buying the cheapest non modded one I can find and send it away to be modded. Although that sounds like much more work and shipping to worry about then just spending the money for a modded one.
