For under $72 shipped. Way to break my "spend less" resolution.

I'm pretty sure that's a Paramount title, so it not only won't be on any BOGO's, it won't be reprinted in the near future.
EDIT: It's Dreamworks, which is the same as being Paramount.

Kingdom of Heaven is the best looking blu-ray, looks gorgeous. Its also the directors cut that Ridley Scott wanted to put in theatres and has extra scenes, overall this cut is quite a bit better than the theatrical version.
Its available in this BOGO deal.

Yeah, the difference between the Theatrical and DC is incredible. You're actually given a reason to care about Orlando Bloom and Eva Green's characters in the DC due to all the additional scenes that have been put back.

Scissorhands, Robocop & Planet of the Apes will be upgrades for me (gotta have my hi-def Burton) and the others will be new pickups. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but leaning towards it.

Man, Blu-ray is awesome. I bought the ps3 for 500 and sold all the crap blu-rays i got with it for 80 bucks. Then I bought POTC 1 and 2, fifth element, black hawk down, road warrior, goodfellas, enter the dragon, hellboy, troy, and 300 for ten bucks each with the amazon bogo then i sent in for casino royale for free with the b2g1free sony promotion, then I bought ratatouille for 15 bucks with the disney coupon and POTC 3 for 11 bucks with the fake disney coupon at BB. I also got a free enchanted movie ticket with ratatouille. I wish I had known about the amazon visa to make the BR's even cheaper. all in all it's gonna average 9 bucks a BR. If I had amazon visa dvdsave 5 it would be 8 bucks. WHO NEW THAT NEXT GENERATION HD would be so cheap? ALso, if you live in the city and look around at night you'll see a lot of boxes of bluray players and ps3 boxes that people got for christmas and didn't redeem the 5 bluray free promotion. Just ripoff the upc and make a fake receipt and voila, 5 more free br's. I already found 2 ps3 boxes.

Ok, placed my order. I decided to swap out Planet of the Apes for Music & Lyrics, and grouped my 3 orders so that I could use the $5 off on two of them:
Order 1:
Troy: DC
Robocop
$22.95
Order 2:
Music & Lyrics
Edward Scissorhands
$22.95
Order 3:
Blood Diamond
Alexander Revisited
$19.95

Said thread is for users that are more than happy to violate the terms of Amazon Prime, which says that all associate memberships for an Amazon Prime account must reside in the same household.
From the Amazon Prime info page:
* Share one membership with up to four additional accounts in the same household and get even more value.
* Shared benefits with up to four family members living in the same household.
If you want to get Amazon Prime, spend your own money to do it for your own membership. Amazon.com could easily remove and and all associate memberships that don't reside at the same address as the master account.
Also, the master account can revoke any associate membership at any time, without any recourse by the person who "had" the associate membership.
Keep that in mind before tossing away $16.

In for 28 Days, 28 Weeks, Edward Scissorhands and Rescue Dawn.
My 10% wouldn't work :(
A couple of days ago I picked up Blade Runner, 2001 & 3:10 to Yuma from Best Buy with the $20 off 3 BR coupon. Then I got all the Harry Potters on HDDVD with that Amazon B1G1, and picked up PotC : AWE, Superbad, Pan's Labyrinth, Hot Rod & Queen : Rock Montreal in an effort to use my 10% at the end...
17 movies in the last week, I have no idea when I'm going to watch all these. Oh well, I'm done for awhile.

Not just the PQ, but there are NO additional features for Robocop on blu-ray.
The new DVD got a shit-ton.
It definently looks HD, it's not god awful, and you can tell its not DVD. Then again the reviews made it sound so bad I might have lowered my expectations. I saw Robocop 2 on Uni HD and that definently looks a lot better. But Robocop sounds surprisingly good for such an old title.
I'm a real big fan, no extras suck. Probably the best it will look, so it was worth it.
Thanks for the op.
I held off buying the Smiths and Cast Away for a few weeks in hope of this. Jumped on both.
Too bad I need to have Sunshine as soon as possible.

Fox's habit of dropping special features really ruined this sale for me. I just got a PS3, so I was psyched for this sale, but after reading reviews for the movies I want and don't already have on HD DVD, I only wound up with one that I would buy... If only there were Buena Vista movies included.

I'm in for The Shining and Full Metal Jacket.
I'm still holding out hope for a proper Robocop blu-ray release...this one is supposed to be pretty poor.
I also bit on the Kubrick double feature, especially since this is the newer version of Full Metal Jacket. I still have the original Criterion release of Robocop on DVD and have yet to see all that material presented in a re-issued HD format.
I'm glad I waited out my trigger finger on the Harry Potter HD-DVDs last week since they are offering the Blu-rays this week! Considering that we received the most recent release for Christmas, it's as if we got our own bargain bin boxset... minus the box.

You basically paid $15 for the box, which I think looks pretty awesome.

The Departed
Troy
Enter the Dragon
Blood Diamond
I haven't watched Troy so I don't know if I should buy it. I'm also thinking of geting Beerfest instead of Troy. I really liked Beerfest.
What do you guys think?
P.S. Does anyone want to buy Terminator 1 for me? I only have Dejavu (new/sealed) for trade. PM me if you're interested. My goal is to have the Terminator trilogy on Blu-Ray. And hopefully the Sarah Connor Chronicles series on Blu-Ray as well. Do you think it will be on blu-ray?

Troy is an amazing movie defiently a buy for its price. I'm grabbing it with Departed. And Sarah Connor Chronicles is Fox so defiently should come to Blu-ray day and date of the Season 1 DVD set if they are made.

I've never seen Troy either, but the review of it at HighDefDigest (http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/976/troy_dc.html) says it's recommended... although the reviewer seems to think the movie is not that great overall:
The additions to 'Troy: Director's Cut' are substantial enough to make this new release a net gain over the theatrical edition. But whatever its form, 'Troy' is still not a great film, and the problems with the original cut remain despite the copious amount of new footage.
DVDTalk gave the Director's Cut on HD-DVD (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=31491) and DVD (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=30489) a Highly Recommended, and the Blu-Ray a Rent It (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=31002). RottenTomatoes.com places it at Rotten (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/troy/), with average reviews 6/10.
From what I've read there is great production value here but not much else... I'll have to rent it myself to see just what I think, but I know with reviews like this I wouldn't blind buy.

Can someone please explain to me how they are getting this 10% off discount. I searched for it on here and nothing came up.Although it doesn't matter (and hopefully this won't have to be explained again since it's ended, apparently), it was a discount given to early adopters that bought HD players or 3 movies near the beginning of 07, and lasted until the end. Just thought I'd give you a proper answer, although it's nothing you nor I can hope to take advantage of.

Buying? Isn't the entire purpose of der intarwebz to search for and find free pr0nnage?
On another note, does anyone have the original full/complete list of titles that were available? Sounds like I missed some that I wanted. Was Live Free or Die Hard on there, or Casino Royale? What about any of the Resident Evils?

Those interested in Fox's movies should chekc the review sites first. They are notorious for having low grade video on their blu-ray transfers. 28 Days Later is basically the DVD version and Robocop does not fare much better. They also pull crap like making the blu-ray version of Live Free or Die Hard the theatrical version, rather than the unrated version available on DVD. On top of that, they chargesmuch more then other studios. Highdefdigest.com is a good site for reviews.

Yeah check the reviews first, especially on 28 Days Later (at $27 bucks), the entire film was shot on low-grade videocameras, it looks exactly like the DVD version so save your money. And 28 Weeks is an absolutely terrible sequil so...just save your money there too and view the DVD version :D
I hate these sales..thankfully however I'm running out of BD's that I'd pay money for.....Apes, Heaven, Xmen (nope I never got it) and FroM Hell....and yeah I do like Burton's Apes :D

This is of course all YMMV. Nobody knows how a person's setup is like. If I tried to watch 28 days later SD on my 65", it would be ass. The Blu-ray is HD enough to bump it up to viewable, plus the audio is better than the dvd counterpart.
Opinions are great and all, but keep in mind that not every one is watching these on your tv and listening on your speakers.

However the Audio on both is leagues ahead of the DD on the standard DVD's. the 2nd movie looks amazing visually on Blu and the audio just makes me wet my pants. I've bought a lot of movies that were in low tiers just because the audio upgrade alone was worth it.

On another note, does anyone have the original full/complete list of titles that were available? Sounds like I missed some that I wanted. Was Live Free or Die Hard on there, or Casino Royale? What about any of the Resident Evils?
No.

A few comments on what you've said... 28 days is awful but robocop is a clear upgrade from the dvd but with no extras. The PQ is very good though not as great as the newer titles. Lastly Live Free or Die Hard is preferable on the theatrical version as if you've seen the latter you would see how bad the synching is and some scenes he is clearly not mouthing the audio coming out of the speakers.

Thanks for the heads up, OP.
I placed an order the first night this was posted for the four Harry Potters. I got a shipping confirmation on 3 out of the 4, which reflected the promotional price. The fourth will be shipped when available but does not show the promotional price. Here's hoping that when it does ship, the discount will be taken off and I also won't be charged shipping for it.
I just think it's weird that the order was split up because I didn't choose that method of shipping.

FINALLY picked up 28 Days/Weeks Later. It was pretty high on my 'to get' list. I would've picked them up at Frys.com's BOGO, but the $7 shipping killed it. Unless they eventually get down to $10 like the DVDs are now, I think this is as good as a deal you'll ever see for them. 28 Days Later seems to be kind of rare too, you usually don't see it going for less than $25.
But now I'm really pissed that I picked up the Harry Potter movies with the Warner Bros. 20% off coupon, it doesn't even compare to this. Hell, I got a terrific deal on the Die Hards and even this would have been better. These deals seriously make me weary about buying movies on release!
I'd go for Xmen 3 and AvP.... but as far as I know that isn't the 'good' version of AvP and.... I... REALLY... NEED.... TO STOP..... SPENDING MONEY!!! :(
And yeah, I know 28 Days isn't a good Blu transfer at all, but I enjoyed it and have yet to see 28 Weeks.... and my OCD insists that if I buy one I need the other.

hahahaha sounds like my problem! i actually did an abnormal psych paper on compulsive buying and it's amazing some of the traits that i possessed O_o just watch the dvds you have, as im trying to do right now, and THEN buy more. I luckily only bought 2 things from this sale simply cuz i had a burned copy of transporter and bought the Transporter 2 in SDVD so i had to purchase them. Plus i had a $5 Amazon gift certificate i won from Blingo so all the more justification...tho 28 days and weeks later are both tempting ME...tho so far i've held back...hopefully this sale will end before i give in to my desires...grrrr

No at the end before finally checking out. It will take $5 off if you meet the requirements.
1) DVDs total $50+
2) Use Amazon Visa for payment
If you enter it and don't meet the requirement, when you do meet the requirements it will take $5 off without entering the code again.

At the risk of thread-jacking, while I agree with you in the initial stages, we must all always be aware that there are other formats that are competing, i.e. digital downloads and other on-demand-type services.
And it is not like these BOGOs are all over the place, they have been almost exclusively Amazon deals with an occassional Fry's and J&R BOGO. I have faith in Amazon continuing to be our HD source and the most competitive in pricing.

When is the deal going to end?
I actually called Amazon this afternoon to find out about some items and asked them that exact question and they said they didn't know. Their sales don't run Sun-Sat like Circuit City, Best Buy and the like do. I wouldn't wait long if there is something you really want because even if the deal doesn't end in a week or two the movies offered in the bogo deals do change randomally.
They also can't say for sure when their deal on players will end even though there are dates given of when you have to purchase the players by to be able to get the 5 free movies by rebate. No biggie though I'm in no rush especially since the big announcment today by Warner Bros.

To be fair, no one "wasted" money on buying HDDVD. Despite popular belief, if HDDVD officially loses the format war the discs will still work. Its not like the high def police will come into your home and confiscate the HDVDs that have been purchased.
Those individuals will forever own a high def version of that movie that they can continue to enjoy.

Those individuals will forever own a high def version of that movie that they can continue to enjoy. If HD-DVD loses, it is a waste to have invested money on a HD-DVD player. Once the format becomes obsolete, you would then need to spend additional money for a blu-ray player for the latest movies.
Also, it wouldn't be very convenient to have a both a HD-DVD player and a Blu-ray player in your entertainment center. Sure you can get a dual format player which will play both formats, but that costs more money.
Sorry if my post sounds negative, just trying to be realistic.

Your HD DVD player and collection are now obselete, do not let anyone tell you otherwise. What happens in a year from now when your buddy says "hey bring over Mr Bean in HD and lets watch it!". Blu-Ray is now the set standard. What're you going to do, pack up your HD DVD player and movie to watch it at your friends place? Or just buy it on Blu-Ray when its released? One of these makes sense, the other does not.
To anyone with HD DVD equipment, i suggest selling everything as quick as possible before more people find out. The stuff will be completely worthless in due time, sell the hardware and software and invest in a PS3 + a stack of awesome Blu-Ray flicks. The war is over, time to jump in!

Wow, your post reeks of an over-reactionary Sony employee. Perhaps you should change your screen name to ChickenLittle?
Toshiba and MS have too much invested in HD DVD at this time. There will be some sort of retaliatory answer... will HD DVD survive? who knows... seems unlikely, but it ain't going anywhere for awhile folks... so, buy your cheap HD DVD's when available, and enjoy your HD DVD players.
Oh, and if I had any friend that wanted me to come over with Mr. Bean on high definition, regardless of the format, I'd shoot him.

wow, with all this talk about hd-dvd going to eventually become obsolete, I'm glad I only have blu-ray. Of course, the thing that made me choose blu-ray over hd-dvd is that I have had a PS3 since launch. Figured why not get blu-ray if I already have the player. Glad it seems to be turning out to be the winning format. But even if it wasn't, the PS3 would be used for games anyway. Win-win situation.

Microsoft has washed its hands clean of HD DVD, you will see once CES is done. Toshiba also CANCELED its 2 hour CES Presentation completely. Not postponed, not moved, CANCELED. Its not there. If that is what happens when they "Retaliate" as you say, then what would they do as an attack. It is over. HD DVD is finished. Sooner you accept it, the sooner you will be happier with HD Movies.
And i am just a very big fan of Blu-Ray, supporter since 2005. Glad to know that if you think of Blu-Ray as the winner, you work for Sony. Guess the microsoft schills did a fine job of brainwashing people here!

How did this turn into a debate of blu-ray vs. HDDVD? They're both great formats. Personally, I like the load times of blu-ray (PS3), but I like the features of HDVD as well (interactive PIP special features). I'd be curious what the installed base looks like after all the HD-A2 and A3 deals from the holidays. Spending $100 on a player and getting 5 free movies is hardly a waste. It's basically free at that point. I got the HD-A3 from Amazon for $150 w/ 10 free movies. That's MAKING money.
IMO, the Xbox360 HDVD attachment was kind of a missed opportunity. It lacked some of the features that set the format apart. Walmart is still pushing HDDVD to my knowledge, which cannot be underestimated. Best Buy seems to promote blu-ray more.
Oh, and my Potter order got split as well. Still waiting for the Goblet of Fire to ship.

Now I just need to sell my HD DVD versions.

I have both the 360 HD-DVD attatchment and a PS3 and consider myself somewhat format neutral. I have bought way more blu-rays than HD-DVDs but I have rented a ton of the HD-DVD exclusive titles from netflix. If blu-ray does end up winning the format war I don't think I will have wasted my $170 on the HD DVD drive because it has seen lots of use.
Anyway, back on topic, I was in for the four Potter flicks. Great deal! :applause:

I, too, just ordered the blu-ray potters--at $27 for the first 4, it seemed like a no brainer in case HD-DVD goes away (10% + DVDSAVE5 discounts). Is a shame as the 4th and 5th HD-DVD versions had the nice in-movie experience which isn't on the blu-ray. Will probably try to dump my HD-DVD box set eventually--the packaging was awful and bulky anyway. Would have been better if the chest just contained the normal HD slimcases.

What from this list of BOGO's are must haves?? PQ is high on my list.Kingdom of Heaven was one of the first Blu-Ray movies I picked up, good movie, amazing PQ.
The Departed transfer was sort of so-so, but the quality of the movie more than made up for it.
The Fountain was a great if depressing film, also fantastic PQ.
I've only seen the Transporter playing on demos at BB + CC, but if you liked those movies the PQ seemed rather good.
All the HP movies are higly regarded for their PQ, so those should also be safe bets.
Aside from that I don't see any titles on the list that I remember being trashed for poor PQ, they all seem like safe bets if you like the movie. Just don't pick up Enter the Dragon and expect the same PQ you might get from Return of the King HD :o

Just letting you know... Best Buy will have some $14.99 movies tomorrow in their ad. With the $20 off 3 movies, you can get 3 for $25. Just letting you know because with this deal and coupon, it MAY be cheaper than Amazon. To make a fair comparison, you'd need to do it with six movies.
Six $14.99 movies w/2 $20 off coupons = $50 + tax
Six $20 movies w/BOGO at Amazon.com = $60 w/o tax & shipping
It'll be cheaper with 3 movies or 6 movies. Problem is that most of the movies that are $14.99 have already been on the BOGO via Amazon.com.
Also, there have been the reported issues with people using the $20 off coupon with three $19.99 movies with the current sale at BB, so it may be more of an issue to use it with 3 $14.99 movies.

Picking up the three Die Hard's and Rocky, as well as RoboCop and Speed. Great action flicks that should look amazing in high-def.
I was tempted to get the Fly and 28 Days Later, but I heard how horrible the transfer to HD that Days was, that I won't even worry about it until the eventual ~10 dollar price Days will go to.

Just bought a ps3 yesterday - was debating buying the Samsung HD DVD & Blu Ray player, but after reading some bad reviews, and the Warner news, figured the PS3 was the better bet. Unfortunately, the mall near me overcharges for DVDs and especially the high def formats, so I didn't buy any blu-rays. I didn't see Order of the Phoenix on the B1G1... the other 4 harry potters were there though.
As for the other guy that asked how much it cost...
Subtotal: 428.12
Minus 82 odd dollars for the B1G1
Total was 345 dollars. BUT I had a lot of Giftcards/giftchecks so it cost me I think 100 bucks out of pocket.
This was my treat myself weekend, since I'm getting my bonus tomorrow. Should be between 10 and 15 grand AFTER tax :-)

Exactly the same concern for me... but the first Rocky is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I wanted to jump on it. The box set will probably be 120+ MSRP, kind of like the Die Hard set, but the Rocky one would have more movies, so it'd be more expensive retail.
